Nicole, a grieving widow, connects with Christian through her online diary. After her husband dies in a traffic accident, Christian invites her to Norway. She accepts using settlement money, but Christian is arrested for murder in Thailand. Desperate and alone, Nicole reaches out to cyber friends, eventually staying with Adele in Germany. Their friendship deepens when they reunite with mutual friend Frida in Turkey. When Adele dies of lung cancer, she asks Frida to care for Nicole.
