The world we knew shed its old skin.Papa Emeritus III called it the Purification—hellfire wrapped in a beautiful word.They stroked our ears with words from floodlit stages,threading a new faith into our minds like beads on a profane rosary.They prepared us,instilled in us our chosen singularity.We clung to the snowy pallor of gloves as if they were the only meaning left.We were on the square.We swore.And when the Hammer of His Truth struck,shattering the thin asphalt skin—we were ready.
