She couldn't jump out in front of him at any time, otherwise she would have changed their first meeting, damaged their budding feelings, and jeopardized the chain of events that led to the salvation of the world.
She waited patiently for a hundred years, basking in thoughts of Chester. She imagined so many different scenarios, even began writing them down, almost publishing a collection called "A Thousand and One Meetings That Never Happened." But even the publication had to wait, even though it was only half a century away: time was slowly ticking away. She didn't want to ruin the experience for herself or her beloved. What if Chester read the book, or one of the scenarios came true? Then she would have to exclude it from the collection, since it only contained those that were destined to never happen—that's what Arche had decided.
The book remained untouched. Arche hadn't expected such a reunion… On the appointed day, she hurried to the town of Toltus, revived by the power of her friends. To see the town in flames, her friends in blood and agony. Mint had already lost consciousness, if she was still breathing at all. Cless lay nearby, blind and deaf, slowly fading. And Chester…
"Chester!"
Arche rushed to him, powerless to help. He was literally choking on his own blood in her arms.
"No! No, you can't! How!? Why!?"
Arche burst into tears, realizing the horror of what was happening and her own helplessness.
"Ba… n… dits…" Chester managed to utter through a cough.
"Bandits…? Common bandits…?" Arche couldn't believe her ears.
They fought great evil together, they defeated the demons of the Underworld, but the lives of great heroes were taken by common bandits?
"No…" Arche shook her head, refusing to believe it. Tears continued to flow from her eyes onto the bleeding wounds. Arche was on the verge of cry a loud. "No! This can't be! This wasn't supposed to happen!? How!? Why!?"
Chester couldn't answer anymore: the life had left his glassy eyes.
…Arche had waited for this moment for a hundred years. A hundred years of blissful ignorance…"
