Chapter 1

Settings
1 day Song: you are not the same I woke up in a white bed and white walls. Everything seemed so familiar to me, but just as elusive. I felt a sense of deja vu, but I couldn't remember it that way. The only thing I remember is my name. Curly Burlington. Looking around, I saw a bedside table next to the bed, where there was a player with a cassette already inserted. But before I could do anything, strangers in white coats entered the room. I couldn't recognize the faces, but I could remember that there were three of them. One of them put headphones on me and turned on the tape again. A pleasant melody surrounded my body, forcing me to immerse myself in pleasure. I didn't even notice how the men in white coats helped me up and led me out of the room. There were other people in the hallway. In the same clothes as me. They looked at me strangely. Someone was smiling, someone was frowning. The people seemed unfamiliar to me, but there was still a strange deja vu. Soon I entered a small hall. There was a huge table in the middle, with pale people sitting around it. Even through the music, I could hear screams, shouts, and loud conversations, which started to annoy me. People in lab coats (later I found out that they were orderlies) sat me down at a table and put strange food and a mug with some drinks in front of me. Noticing my confusion, a girl came up to me and said it was porridge and compote. She even called me by my first name. To which I could only nod and pick up a spoonful of porridge. Yeah, it didn't taste like much. Too tasteless. After eating, the orderlies took me by the arms and led me into an office. On the way, they switched the tape back to me. They seem to know me well. When I entered the office, I saw a small table with a man in a white coat and glasses sitting at it. I vaguely remember his appearance. But they called him the chief physician. The man pointed to a chair in front of him. The paramedics sat me down on a chair. I felt confused and slightly agitated. The head doctor talked to me about my well-being and gave me this diary. They say that I should write down the days and not forget them. The man also informed me about some new guy. The conversation didn't last long. The head doctor released me and the paramedics took me to my room. I was already listening to music there and from time to time I fell asleep. Day 2. Song: abbey After reading this diary, I was surprised. The recording, which I do not remember, was written by my hand. Which worried me a bit. I woke up according to people in white coats in the afternoon, so I skipped breakfast. But I just shrugged my shoulders and continued listening to the music. But closer to lunch, something happened. I was lying there listening to music. I was almost falling asleep when suddenly violent screams began to be heard outside the door, such as "I'm normal", "let me go". The voice was completely unfamiliar. A guy came into the room. Well, how did you get in. The paramedics literally pushed him into the room. Despite the music, I still heard one of the paramedics shush the guy and point at me, saying, "Don't bother him." The guy looked at me in surprise. The rebel even calmed down. But despite this, the paramedics injected him with a sedative and left the room. The red-haired, blue-eyed rebel looked at me frowningly. And he started asking questions that I ignored. Realizing that I wouldn't answer, the rebel grinned and just started chatting. During his monologue, he mentioned his name: Marcel. Quite interesting, it seemed to me. After lunch, the paramedics dragged me to an office. I felt strangely calm as I looked around at the man who was sitting across from me and talking to me. A man, or rather a woman. The doctor, as I later found out, asked me questions about my well-being. He also asked a question about the new neighbor. When I returned to the room, Marcel was all worried and kept asking about me. I didn't answer. By the way, this neighbor is sleeping in the same bed with me right now. He's having nightmares, poor guy. Day 3 Song: golden brown Little by little, I'm starting to figure out why these notes are written here in my handwriting. I don't seem to remember the days. Marcel also confirmed this when I almost nailed him with a slipper because I forgot it. That rebel is still mad at me. Well, I'm sorry. When everyone got up, people in white coats took me by the arms and put on headphones and helped me out of the room. Marcel came out with us. He was talking all the time, but thank God I couldn't hear his chatter because of the music. After walking down the hallway for just a minute, we came to the dining room. Marcel sat down next to me. To be honest, I don't even know why. I don't even want to know. Let him sit. After tasting the porridge, the rebel grimaced and asked me like, "Do they always feed us this badly?" To which I just shrugged my shoulders. After breakfast, this restless puppy dragged me out into the yard. I remember the courtyard the most. These are huge trees with creatures called "birds" sitting on them. People are almost the same as us. They're just as pale, gray, and sad. Of course, there are also smiling, joyful ones. But Marcel called them "rainbow cocks." Why? God only knows. But what attracted me the most was a huge tree with red fruits. I even took out my headphones to ask Marcel what kind of tree it was. He replied that it was an apple tree. And these red fruits are apples. The redhead said that apples are very tasty and healthy. I immediately climbed a tree as a poet. Marcel, realizing my idea, almost skipped up the tree. His eyes were shining with moronic happiness. If Marcel had been a dog, his tail would have been spinning like a propeller. Perhaps he would have flown so far away. Or maybe it would have been too heavy for that. Soon Marcel was on the same level as me. I reached for the first apple and plucked the fruit. Biting into it, my eyes widened in surprise. The sour taste of the juice immediately filled my mouth, mixing with the sweet taste of the fruit. Marcel's lips stretched into a wide smile at the sight of my face. And soon the whole courtyard was filled with the laughter of the rebel. So bright and bright that I immediately forgot about the apple. And the hands reached out to Marcel's face by themselves. He was mildly surprised by my reaction, but did not resist. Then we picked apples from the apple tree and, having safely descended, ran from the orderlies to the ward. There we spent the rest of the day talking loudly and eating delicious apples. Day 4 Song: genesis (Marcel's cassette) I woke up today with a slight surprise. I partially remembered yesterday. I remember climbing a tree with this guy and eating apples. When I woke up, Marcel, who was sitting in the same bed with me, immediately introduced himself so that I wouldn't yell or hit him. That's very good of him. It was quite noisy at breakfast. Even through my headphones, I could hear screams, the sound of smashing plates, and conversations, which really, really annoyed me. Noticing this, Marcel hugged me to him and covered my headphones with his hands so that the sound would not pass into my ears. I was very surprised and grateful for this action. But Marcel's act was noticed by not very pleasant people. Especially violent patients from the fifth ward (the head doctor told me about them later). According to the paramedics, they were guys with principles. And one of those principles was that a guy can't be close to a guy. Otherwise he's gay. And they beat you for that. There were three of them. Big men who were sent here because of aggression. According to other patients, these bros beat their wives because these poor girls allegedly cheated on them. And so, these individuals considered Marcel's act to be gay. And after breakfast, they stopped us in the hallway. One of them, the most important one, presented Marcel with the fact that he was gay and such people were not liked here. The redhead replied that he didn't care, and that there were guys making out in almost every corner. These words infuriated the leader in a matter of seconds, and he ordered his men to deal with my friend. WITH MY FRIEND, DAMN IT. I immediately intervened and tried to explain my difficult situation. The men didn't believe me. They laughed, took the headphones away from me, and broke the cassette player. It pissed me off. I do not know how long I have been beating them. Whether they tried to resist or not. It was like a dream to me. It was as if I was walking out into the courtyard at that moment. I woke up from this "dream" already covered in the blood of these bastards and in the hands of Marcel and the paramedics. The paramedics took us to our room and injected me with a sedative. When the men in the lab coats had left, Marcel took his cassette player with headphones out of the drawer and offered it to me. I agreed. By the way, his music was even good. Very pleasant and soothing. The redhead sat down next to me. He hugged me tightly and stroked my head. I buried my nose in his chest and closed my eyes in pleasure. It couldn't be expressed in words. I felt safe and at peace. It's like Marcel tamed me. He took it to himself and hid it from the whole world. I fell asleep in his arms. Day 5 Song: you too I started memorizing the days. I remember lying in Marcel's arms and listening to music. And it was something with something. I remember the warmth of his hands. I remember him touching my hair with his lips. And so when the redhead introduced himself to me in the morning, I said that I remembered him. The rebel was surprised and happy about it. Oh.. you should have seen that happiness in his eyes. He literally wanted to kiss me. But he just kissed me on the lips. And on the cheek. And in the neck. Okay, who am I lying to. He kissed my whole face. We went to the dining room under the supervision of the orderlies. Pleasant music was playing in my headphones, calming me down. At one point, Marcel grabbed my hand, interlacing his fingers. I wasn't against it. On the contrary, I squeezed his hand in return, for which the redhead smiled the brightest smile in the world. The dining room was exactly the same as yesterday. People shouting and talking. Flying saucers with disgusting food that almost flew into my head several times. Marcel stayed close, protecting me from other violent patients and being jealous of me. I was amused by his reaction when a girl approached me. At these moments, the redhead frowned and scowled menacingly. And when the girls left, the rebel immediately mimicked their words. It was hard not to laugh. At the end of breakfast, Marcel leaned over to me and suggested in a whisper that we rob the dining room at a quiet hour. I agreed, because there's nothing to do anyway. And so, after lunch, we carefully got out of the ward. We walked on tiptoe, trying not to make any noise or attract attention. There was no one in the dining room, absolutely no one. There weren't even any cooks in the kitchen. Which was good news. And first we took some forks, spoons and knives. Because they were beautiful. Then we went into the kitchen. Of course, the room has seen better days. And Marcel even started to feel sick, realizing where the food was being prepared for us. We didn't steal much from the kitchen except for the matches. We're moving on. Next place: the closet. Since the room is small, there was nothing to steal except potatoes, carrots and beets. But Marcel found some kind of key and lock picks on the top shelf and took them with him. There's nothing much to steal next. Therefore, after lingering in the dining room for a while longer, we decided to leave the room. But at the exit, the paramedics were already waiting for us. They grabbed us and dragged us to the head doctor. Anyway, according to the cameras, the guard saw that we were robbing the canteen and reported it. Yeah, we didn't see that. But the head doctor reacted calmly. The man even laughed. He asked Marcel to take out all the stolen items. The redhead took out everything except the key. No one noticed it. The head doctor talked to us about the behavior and let us go. When we returned to the ward, Marcel sat me on his lap and hung the key around my neck. It was very sweet. In response, I hugged the rebel tightly and clung to him. Day 6. Song: head you The day started terribly. Marcel was packed up somewhere this morning. As I understand it, this place is called the isolation ward. The redhead rebelled and shouted, demanding to be released. It sounded so pathetic and heartbreaking. He screamed and screamed. But there was nothing I could do to help him. It took me an hour to get away from this horror. But still a question. What's wrong with him? What did Marcel do to get him taken to the detention center? When I came to my senses, I went to the redhead's bedside table and started looking for cassettes with songs. Rebel once told me that I could borrow music from him. Ten minutes later, I finally found the right tape and started the player. The melody was quite creepy and stressful. Right on the situation. (By the way, I noticed from my notes that music is very suitable for the days and reading old pages to written music is very atmospheric.) The day itself was boring and gray without Marcel. Flipping through the tape, talking to patients, and chapters. A doctor. In the evening, I just lay in bed and listened to the tape I found. I fell asleep with the music. "A week later" Day 13. Song:... Happy news awaited me in the morning. Marcel returned from the detention center. But.. He became different. The redhead was distant, even slightly aggressive. He wouldn't let me listen to his tapes. That's why I'm without a song today. When we went to the dining room together, he was silent and frowning with displeasure, as if I had done something wrong. And at lunch, he poured soup over me on purpose! I wanted to hit him, but.. Marcel is still my friend. Probably. When I offered to lie down together, the redhead called me a faggot and went to bed. I don't really like these changes. 14day:..... Song: NERVE STAR Dear Mrs. Burlington, Unfortunately, your son, named Curly Burlington, was stabbed to death in ward 6 by one of the patients, named Marcel Wheeler. The incident occurred at 3:00 a.m. (three a.m.). I offer you my condolences. Chapters. Psychiatric Hospital doctor Jeremy Wymack" The woman's hands shook with grief. And the diary of the deceased son fell to the floor. Mrs. Burlington was beside herself with grief. Her son. Curly. Her beloved son was stabbed to death by an aggressive bastard. That same night, the woman's body was hanging on the chandelier. And the frail woman's neck was tied with a thick rope.
