ㅤ A lot has changed since Senel and Shirley arrived on the Legacy. Since they left it… to return to the life they had loved most. They returned to the small house by the river where they had lived for three years. But now they had no need to hide from anyone, except perhaps from grateful travelers who knew of the deeds of the great Merines, who had built a bridge between the peoples of land and water. She had strengthened the bond so much that relations between the peoples grew more peaceful and closer with each passing day. Enjoying the fresh air and unspoiled nature, Shirley rocked in her rocking chair, vaguely imagining the waves. Whenever she missed the sea, Senel would take her to the port, but usually a simple chair and the quiet view of the river flowing past were enough for her. Although she was a poor knitter, she continued to try to make a scarf for her husband. The yarn lay on the table next to the baked goods and fresh milk—getting her own cow didn't seem like such a bad idea. Senel returned with a large catch, grinning broadly: he hadn't caught such a large fish in a long time, something to be proud of. After hanging a bunch of fishtails in front of the house, Senel hurried to sit next to his wife until she went to the kitchen. The best moments of their everyday life were spent quietly on the veranda, where, in fine weather, they spent much time, often enjoying a delicious meal. Shirley was an excellent cook! They rarely spoke of the past, cherishing the present. While many good things had happened on the Legacy, they had also endured many hardships, even after confronting a supernatural foe and proving the strength of human will. Every stone laid under the bridge was earned with sweat and often blood. When life brought her to her knees, Shirley never lost heart and always rose, leaning on Senel's shoulder, who was always by her side. He was the embodiment of her unwavering spirit. Without him, she would not have achieved even half of what she had achieved. It took time. A lot of time… But every wrinkle was worth it: their grandchildren lived in a beautiful world where wars and millennia-old feuds were a thing of the past. If any regrets remained, they were insignificant, fading with each happy day, gradually fading into oblivion. As Senel swallowed another piece of pie, he gazed lovingly at his wife, seeing in her the same young woman whose feelings he had so long and stubbornly rejected, denying his own. She, looking softly with hidden sparkling enthusiasm, saw his soul, in which the ardor of a lively youth, capable of moving mountains for her, had not faded. Although fate had destined one to go to sea, the other to return to the land, nothing of the past or the inevitable future mattered on the banks of a very quiet river. ㅤ
