Chapter 17, The Unforeseen Simulation Joint
May 30, 2026 at 3:09 AM
Mineta’s face pales.
“Villains?! No way!”
Kaminari frowns, looking down.
“What villains would be dumb enough to break into a hero school?!”
Momo turns sharply to Thirteen.
“Sensei! Aren’t there intruder sensors?”
Thirteen nods, tense.
“Yes, of course there are…! One of their Quirks must be interfering with the system!”
Todoroki says nothing.
His gaze moves across the group below.
Counting.
Positioning.
Assessing.
Momo’s eyes narrow as she looks toward the facility.
“Are they only here… or at the main building as well…?”
A beat.
“If the sensors aren’t functioning—”
She stops.
The implication hangs.
Todoroki speaks.
“This location is isolated. And they chose a time when only students would be here.”
His gaze remains fixed on the villains.
Below—
The hand-covered villain notices Todoroki.
He lifts a hand.
He waves.
Casual.
Todoroki’s eyes narrow.
“So… not as dumb as they seem.”
A brief pause.
“This is a coordinated attack.”
Another.
“They have an objective.”
Izuku’s eyes widen.
The words echo in his mind—
Where. Is. All Might?
“They’re here to kill All Might!”
Aizawa’s gaze lands on Izuku.
Kirishima scoffs. “What?! That’s stupid! Who could beat All Might?!”
Izuku’s gaze shifts.
To Aizawa. His brows knit slightly.
“They’re confident…”
A beat.
Aizawa’s lips press into a thin line.
Iida steps forward, wearing a tight expression.
“A-Aizawa-sensei! What should we do?”
Aizawa turns, ignoring Iida.
“Thirteen—begin evacuation. Contact the school.”
A beat.
“They’re jamming the sensors. Likely an electric-type.”
His gaze snaps to Kaminari.
“Kaminari.”
Kaminari straightens. “Y-yes…?!”
“Try using your Quirk. Signal for help.”
Kaminari swallows.
“…Okay.”
Aizawa nods, turning to Iida.
“Iida. Help Thirteen with evacuation. Whatever happens, do not engage the villains.”
Iida straightens.
“Yes, sir!”
Izuku steps forward.
“Wait, Sensei! You can’t take them all alone—!”
A beat, breath catching.
“There’s too many of them, your Quirk isn’t suited for it! And if there’s someone there who can kill All Might-!”
“Midoriya.”
Izuku stiffens.
Aizawa glances back, just slightly.
“Stay. Protect the class.”
Izuku clenches his jaw.
“No good hero is a one-trick pony.”
His gaze shifts forward.
“Thirteen. They’re yours.”
Izuku steps forward again.
“Aizawa-sensei—!”
Too late.
Aizawa is already moving.
He leaps—
Clearing the entire staircase.
Dropping fast.
Straight toward the villains below.
“Ranged squad—move!”
“Wait—intel said it was just Thirteen and All Might—who’s that—?!”
“He’s coming straight at us!”
“A dead fool, then—!”
They raise their hands. One uses her hair. Fire—
Nothing happens.
“…Huh?!”
Still falling—
Aizawa’s scarf lashes out.
It wraps them in an instant.
He lands—
Yanks—
CRACK.
Their heads slam together.
Bodies drop.
Another voice cuts in—
“You idiots! That’s Eraser Head! He cancels Quirks just by looking at you!”
A heavy thud. A larger villain steps forward.
Rock plates grind over his body as he brings two fists together—his other arms spreading wide.
“Let’s see if that trick works on heteromorphic types!”
The villain swings.
“Graaa—!”
Aizawa steps in—
CRACK.
His fist slams into the villain’s face.
“—GUH!”
No. It doesn’t.
The rock villain staggers back. Aizawa’s scarf lashes out, coiling around his leg.
Only against emitter and transformation types.
Another attacker charges in. Aizawa ducks under the strike.
Heteromorphs favor close combat.
He yanks—
The first villain is ripped off balance—
Swung—
And hurled straight into the oncoming attacker.
Bodies crash.
Aizawa straightens.
But I’m better.
The villains circle Aizawa.
They hesitate.
From within the portal—
the voice speaks.
Calm. Measured.
“He’s skilled in close combat… and those goggles obscure his line of sight.”
A brief pause.
“We can’t tell whose Quirk he’s erasing.”
Another.
“And even in numbers… you’re not slowing him down.”
A cackle bursts out beside him.
The hand-covered villain’s body shakes as he points at Aizawa.
“I LOVE pro heroes!”
His fingers dig into his neck, scratching slowly.
“It’s so fun watching small-time trash get crushed like the bugs they are!”
He leans forward slightly, almost bouncing with energy.
“Keep going, Eraser Head!”
Another sharp, delighted cackle escapes as his arms shoot into the air.
“Whoo! Plus Ultra!”
——
Iida stands beside Thirteen.
“Everyone! Please remain calm and follow evacuation procedures!”
Izuku watches, a scowl forming.
I have to go!
He shifts forward, about to move.
“Midoriya!”
He stops and turns.
Thirteen stands firm.
“Remember what Aizawa-sensei said! Trust your teacher!”
“But—!”
Izuku starts to argue, then stops.
The whole class is looking at him.
His gaze shifts.
Bakugo. A contained frown, his body angled away, not fully facing him.
Then Todoroki. Blank. Unreadable.
Finally, Kaminari. Looking nervous, raising a brow.
Wait… if I take these three—
A massive black portal opens before them.
Eyes blink within the darkness.
Watching.
“Greetings…”
Aizawa’s eyes shift.
Dammit. In a blink…
That one… might be the most dangerous here.
The portal distorts. A figure begins to take shape within the darkness.
Only fragments at first—
A silhouette. A glint of metal at the neck. Then, eyes. Yellow slits.
Watching.
“I would like to introduce ourselves.”
A calm, measured voice.
“We are the League of Villains.”
A brief pause.
“Forgive our audacity… but today, we have come to U.A. High School—this bastion of heroism—”
Another beat.
“—to end the life of All Might. The Symbol of Peace.”
The class goes still.
From within the portal—
the voice continues.
“We were under the impression that All Might would be here today, but…”
A soft chuckle follows.
“It seems his schedule was revised. No matter.”
Thirteen’s hand lifts. A finger port opens.
The voice continues grimly.
“My role remains unchanged.”
Kirishima charges forward, arm hardening mid-swing.
Bakugo is already moving. An explosion bursts from his palm as he rockets ahead.
Their blows connect. The portal shrinks.
Kirishima shouts, “Not if we end you first!”
“…That was close.”
The portal pulses and expands again. For a brief moment, only a tie is visible within the darkness.
“Yes… students though you may be, you are the best of the best.”
Thirteen lunges forward. “No! Get back, both of you!”
“Begone.”
The portal surges outward, darkness swallowing everything in an instant.
The last thing Izuku sees is Uraraka reaching for him.
“Deku!”
“Ura-!”
Izuku reaches back.
The darkness reaches first.
——
A portal opens.
Izuku’s hands emerge—
Then the rest of him.
“-raka!”
His eyes widen.
He drops.
Straight toward water.
The flood zone!
He hits the surface hard, sinking briefly before kicking back up.
Why not somewhere lethal…? Space. Underground. Is that a limit of his Quirk, or—
A shape cuts through the water.
Fast.
A shark-headed villain lunges, jaws wide.
Izuku’s arm snaps back, ready for a flick—
A blur.
A foot slams down.
The shark man is driven under.
Tsuyu. Mineta tucked under one arm.
Her tongue lashes out, wrapping around Izuku’s torso.
She pushes off the sinking villain—
Launching them upward. Water explodes around them as they break the surface.
A cruise ship looms ahead.
Tsuyu’s tongue lashes out, guiding Izuku onto the deck.
Mineta dangles under her arm, his cheek pressed against her chest, completely drained.
“For a frog… she’s got pretty nice boobs…”
Tsuyu blinks. Then flicks her arm.
Mineta hits the deck.
“Gah!”
Tsuyu pulls herself up, climbing onto the ship.
Izuku exhales, catching his breath.
“…Thanks, Tsuyu.”
Tsuyu steps onto the deck beside him.
“No problem, Midoriya… but we seem to be in big trouble here.”
Izuku frowns.
“The schedule… and their intent to kill All Might…”
He looks between Tsuyu and Mineta.
“We’re dealing with professionals here… but not everyone seems to be a pro villain…”
Mineta stammers, eyes wide.
“B-but is it even possible to kill All Might?! There’s no way, right?! Especially from some unknown, cliché-sounding ‘I ran out of ideas for a good villain team name’ League of Villains!”
Tsuyu stays calm, watching the water.
“They must have figured out a way to kill him. Otherwise, why come here just to get beaten?”
Izuku continues, eyes scanning the water.
“Yeah… they’ve definitely figured out a way to kill All Might.”
A brief pause.
“Maybe one of them is their ‘secret weapon’…?”
His gaze hardens slightly.
“That guy covered in hands… he feels like the one in charge… Could be him.”
He exhales.
“Either way… we can’t forget what he said. They’re here to kill us.”
Mineta points.
“Midoriya! Look!”
Izuku turns.
The water shifts—
They’re surrounded.
Shapes circle beneath the surface.
Villains.
Dozens.
Mineta’s jaw is trembling.
“A whole school of them!”
Izuku glances down, already muttering.
“But why All Might…? Just because he’s the Symbol of Peace…?”
His brows knit.
“They didn’t care that Thirteen and Aizawa were here… so they’re not trying to eliminate all pros…”
A brief pause.
“Why him specifically…?”
His voice lowers.
“Because he’s the best of the best…?”
Mineta looks exasperated.
“Midoriya!!”
Izuku looks up.
“…Ah.”
Aizawa’s voice echoes in his mind.
Stay. Protect the class.
Izuku steadies himself.
“Why All Might…?”
A brief pause.
“…It doesn’t matter. We don’t even know if we can hold out for that long until he comes.”
He clenches his fist.
“So right now…”
Tsuyu and Mineta look at him.
“…let’s do the rescue simulation.”
