Sync hated his origins. It brought him nothing but torment. He could be neither Ion nor himself. No one… No matter how hard he tried, no matter how hard he fought for his right to exist. In the end, he still surrendered to Van's will, following him. There he found his destiny. Not in his intended goal. But in a pure girl whose mind and heart were completely captivated by his original, as if fate itself were mocking him.
Hearing Ion's name over and over again from Arietta's lips was unbearable. Even after learning the truth, she chose to ignore it, continuing to cherish the desire to return once again to the wing of someone who didn't even respect her.
Arietta continued to lament, trying to organize her thoughts and feelings, but she couldn't get rid of the chaos in her soul. The pain it was causing her… It was as if she wasn't here, completely consumed by him. By this damned Ion.
Sync grabbed Arietta by the waist and turned her to face him, looking her in the eye.
"Enough. The one you're looking for is no longer here. And I'm right here!"
"But…" she looked at him with sadness, "you're not him."
A painful stab pierced his heart. Sync didn't dare take out his anger on the sweet and innocent Arietta, but simply said decisively:
"But I'm here. With you."
Arietta shook her head, unable to speak. She burst into tears. She clung to his chest in despair. Which gave Sync no hope, because:
"I want Ion to come back," she said with difficulty, sobbing, sharing the bitterness of her tears with Sync. "Ion…"
Sync hated that name. Without Ion, Arietta wouldn't be suffering. But… there would be no Sync either. He wouldn't be able to hold her. Comfort her. Believe that one day she would notice him, accept him. But for that to happen, the name Ion had to vanish from her mind. Only Sync had to remain. For her.
'Otherwise, why do I even exist?'
