Chapter 48

After another ten minutes of soft, unhurried kisses, I finally managed to push him off me.
He allowed it, rolling onto his back and smiling at me from under his thick lashes. Then he yawned, squeezing his eyes shut, and stretched his entire flexible, slender body like a big sleepy cat. He threw his arms behind his head, and I quietly laughed, shaking my head.
“You really are tired, my love. You need to rest.”
Jay let out a dramatic sigh.
“It’s just that my insatiable tigress wore me out with her passion and constant demands to ‘kiss her more,’ and I’m already too old for… ‘that kind of mischief,’” he paraphrased my recent words about the uncomfortable bed.
I rolled my eyes with a quiet snort and asked mockingly:
“Weren’t you the one who just recently threatened to kiss your insatiable tigress until morning?”
“Looks like… I slightly overestimated my strength,” Jay drawled thoughtfully, biting his lip with a sly smile.
“Men… always promise the moon and then disappear,” I grumbled, pouting in mock offense.
A quiet chuckle escaped Jay’s lips, then another, and soon it turned into full laughter. A few seconds later, I started laughing too — it was completely impossible to stay mad at this charming bandit for long.
“Well, since I’ve tired you out so badly, go to sleep, darling. But just so you know, those words wounded me right in the heart!” I grumbled, still smiling, and wagged my finger at him. He immediately caught it and pressed my hand to his soft, smiling lips, narrowing his eyes mischievously.
“Don’t be mad at your elderly husband, sunshine,” he asked, still quietly laughing and tenderly brushing his lips over my knuckles in apology. “Be a little more lenient with my respectable age, and in return, I promise to make up for everything I missed very soon.”
I just rolled my eyes and snorted.
“I didn’t think you’d run out of steam so quickly, but fine, I’ll make an allowance for your ‘respectable age’,” I smirked, making air quotes with my fingers. Then I leaned over him, carefully brushing the dark lock that had fallen over his eyes, cupped his handsome face with both hands, and added with a smile, “I think we’ve had enough mischief for today.”
Jay watched my every move as if enchanted, never taking his caressing gaze off me. He didn’t do anything else, letting me take the lead for a while. Or maybe he really was tired. The thought made something unpleasant twist under my ribs — after all, it was partly my fault.
“Rest, tiger,” I whispered with a soft smile, stroking his hair. He closed his eyes and let out a quiet, blissful sigh, surrendering to my touch. “You need to sleep at least a little… so you can perform your professional duties in the morning. What would all your sweet old ladies do without you, hm? Because of me, you’ve already pushed them into the background. They’re probably jealous, and I’m afraid they’ll soon rebel and report you to your boss if you miss rounds because you didn’t sleep all night in my bed… And if he finds you sleeping in it, he’ll definitely fire you, and no high connections will help.”
I lightly kissed the tip of his nose. My tiger chuckled cheerfully without opening his eyes and grumbled:
“Oh, women, your name is treachery… Something tells me you won’t even defend me if it really happens. You’ll just add spicy details about how I spent the night instead of being on duty.”
I rolled my eyes, gently ruffling the soft strands I had just brushed from his forehead, and pressed my lips to his temple, whispering:
“Yes, yes, that’s exactly what I’ll do. So sleep, so the rounds don’t happen without you. It’s already past midnight.”
But my words caused a completely different reaction than I expected.
“Sweetheart,” my beloved husband sighed so heavily that I got scared I had said something wrong and he was genuinely offended. He opened his eyes and looked at me meaningfully, whispering hoarsely, “You can’t cuddle up to a guy for half the night like a playful kitten and then declare it’s time for him to sleep.”
Hearing this, I smirked and bit my lip, immediately understanding what he was getting at. It seemed Mr. Doctor wasn’t planning to sleep yet and was still playing with me. I raised an eyebrow, deciding not to stay in his debt, and leaned down, breathing against his lips, which were curved in a completely hooligan half-smirk:
“Oh really? And why is that?”
Jay finally moved his hands from behind his head, wrapped them around my waist, and pulled me to him, letting me fully feel that… one of his vital organs, located below the belt, was… WIDE AWAKE, LIKE NEVER BEFORE.
“Well… At least for this reason…” he purred hoarsely. With one smooth movement, he rolled me onto my back and pressed me to the bed again with his slender, hot body.
I gasped in indignation, but this bandit bit his shameless lips, smiling daringly, and looking at me with laughing eyes, purred:
“Do you see what you’ve done, Mrs. McFell? Now you’re simply obligated to help me solve this problem.”
Hmm… Someone was really in top form today.
But I had long stopped being that innocent “good girl” who could be embarrassed by such things — the one I was before I met him. So I wrapped my arms around his neck, smiled lazily, provocatively raised an eyebrow and asked:
“And what exactly do you want me to do about it?”
“Don’t you know, Bambi?” this shameless man breathed against my neck, leaving a wet kiss there.
Of course I knew. Moreover, I wanted it just as badly.
My hand smoothly slid down his hot chest, stroked his firm, toned stomach, lightly scratching the cubes of his abs, and covered the impressive bulge in his jeans, gently squeezing.
Jay sharply inhaled, biting his lip, and closed his eyes for a moment. I smiled innocently, looking at him from under my lashes, and asked:
“Is this what you meant, darling?”
Jay’s eyes darkened even more, and a hoarse sound escaped his lips:
“Oh, fuck… Baby…”
“So what were you saying?”
His fluffy lashes lowered, almost hiding the dangerous dark fire smoldering in the depths of his eyes. He exhaled hoarsely:
“Nothing, sweet girl… just… continue…”
Under different circumstances, I would have done exactly that and gone much… much further. But as revenge for how much he loved to tease me and challenge me, I soon removed my hand and shook my head, declaring with a sly smile:
“No way, Mr. McFell.”
He opened his eyes slightly. The corners of his lips twitched as he purred:
“What’s wrong, Bambi? Are you really not going to help your beloved husband in such a difficult situation? Come on, baby… just put your gentle fingers back where they were…”
What a serpent tempter…
Even though my face was already burning with hellfire under his caressing, scorching gaze, I wasn’t going to give in so easily to his dark desires.
“I can only help my beloved husband by washing his shameless dirty mouth with soap! How do you even have the nerve to demand something like that from a decent girl?” I snorted in mock indignation, biting my lip and smiling down at him, trying my hardest not to laugh.
Jay raised an eyebrow, smirking daringly, and declared provocatively:
“I think we’ve already established that thanks to me, there’s nothing left of decency in your pretty little head. So…” He wiggled his dark eyebrows meaningfully, bit his lip, and glanced downward, provoking me to respond.
I rolled my eyes.
“Bad tiger. The most ill-mannered tiger in the world.”
“Guilty as charged, sweetheart,” this ill-mannered, cunning, and insanely vulgar tiger purred hoarsely, then added seductively, “But since you don’t want to ease my suffering, then come here… I need at least a consolation prize…”
And once again I found myself under him so incredibly fast that I didn’t even have time to react. Jay was already clouding my mind with his kisses again.
But after a few more endless moments, he finally pulled away, satisfied with just that. With a contented sigh, he pulled me under him, laid his head on my chest, and closed his eyes. I began stroking his broad, strong back, tracing intricate patterns along his spine with my fingertips. Feeling that he had finally gone quiet and relaxed, I ran my nails lightly along his shoulder blades — not hard enough to hurt. Jay apparently got real pleasure from it. With a long sigh that sounded more like a moan, he breathed against my neck:
“God, Bambi… That feels so good… Even better than what you didn’t want to finish downstairs…”
Hearing his hoarse purring, I blushed again. My thoughts drifted into a completely indecent direction, taking me back to those evenings I spent at Jay’s house before my illness changed my life forever. The memories of him whispering the same words against my lips while devouring them in long, hot kisses, with almost no clothes between us, made my heart race shamelessly again.
Biting my lips, which were still sweetly tingling from his passionate kisses, I carefully ran my nails along his spine once more, drawing another muffled half-moan from him. I buried my fingers in the silky dark strands at the back of his head and received a similar reaction.
So sensitive…
As it turned out, beneath the brutal facade of a dangerous bad boy hid an incredibly tactile, affectionate, gentle boy… and an extremely cuddly one. And only I was allowed to see him like this — open and vulnerable. Real.
And apparently, those summer invitations to come over “just to cuddle” when he lived with us weren’t just an excuse to lure me into his bed. Because… it looked like… bad tigers actually liked being petted even more than sex.
This thought made my lips curve into a smile. Feeling this formidable predator obediently nuzzling into my hands, demanding more and more affection, I smiled sleepily, kissed the top of his dark head, and whispered:
“You really are tame… and so affectionate and obedient…”
