Chapter 46

Settings
Without taking his burning dark gaze off me, shaded by thick lashes, Jay gently wrapped his beautiful, slender fingers around my wrist and brought it to his smiling soft lips. He began lazily kissing my fingers, my wrist, the back of my hand. I held my breath, mesmerized, watching his velvet lips glide over my skin. A shiver ran deep inside me — but not from fear of the Big Bad Tiger... No... not from fear at all, but from anticipation and delight. This tiger had long since become tame ("...I'm completely tame, Bambi, I swear..." — the memory suddenly surfaced, making me smile). He ate from my hands and slept at my feet (well, more like in my bed). All I wanted was for him to do to me everything he was thinking about — everything that blazed like fire in the depths of his hypnotic dark eyes. But I continued to listen, because he wasn’t finished yet. Leaving a tender kiss on the back of my hand, Jay smiled and whispered: “Now do you understand what power you have over me? Your big bad tiger turns into a tame kitten the moment you run your gentle fingers through the fur on the back of his neck. But in his head... there’s still not a single decent thought.” A short, ragged sigh escaped my slightly parted lips from the sweet tremor that engulfed my entire body under his caressing gaze. I immediately bit them, shook my head, and grumbled in a playfully indignant whisper: “Nightmare... how did I ever get involved with you?” Jay just chuckled and rolled his eyes. He placed my hand on his shoulder, pulled me closer with authority, leaned in, and whispered right against my lips, caressing them with his warm coffee-mint breath: “Hush, sweetheart... just hush... You know perfectly well this was the best decision of your life...” I wanted to argue back — purely out of spite, so he wouldn’t get too cocky — but the moment I opened my mouth, his soft lips covered mine again. He kissed me so possessively and deliciously firmly that all desire to grumble or argue vanished. Soon, instead of reproaches, helpless sweet moans began slipping from my lips. I didn’t even try to control them. Jay smiled in satisfaction, stroked my cheek, and whispered between slow, lingering kisses: “That’s much better, Bambi... You still lose your breath from just one kiss... I can’t help but be pleased by that... And I much prefer listening to your purring rather than your grumbling...” I also much preferred kissing this impossible troublemaker to grumbling at him, and the treacherous heart monitor, which once again blared throughout the entire ward, eagerly confirmed it. “Do you hear that? Do you hear what YOU do to me?” I breathed out. I had long since accepted that all my feelings were an open book to him. But this bandit decided to play with me again, making me admit everything myself. “And what exactly am I doing to you, hm, kitten?” he whispered with a smile, touching the corner of my lips with a tender kiss. He was clearly trying on the image of an innocent fawn, though his predatory nature kept slipping out through every crack. “Do I really need to explain it to you?” I shot back, raising an eyebrow and biting my lip. His kisses still lingered sweetly on them. Jay wouldn’t let me dodge the answer. He leaned over me, cupped my face in his warm palms, and whispered hoarsely: “Tell me, little one... Tell me everything you feel when I’m near...” Well... it looked like tonight was a night of confessions. Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes for a moment, hoping my bad tiger would take pity and let me off the hook. But when I opened my lashes, he was still looking straight into my soul with that tender, adoring gaze, waiting for an answer. Trapped in the golden depths of his beloved eyes, I laid everything bare like a confession: “When you’re near... I feel... really good... warm and... incredibly calm... but at the same time... with you everything is... too much. At the peak of feelings and emotions. Remember when I told you that you make me feel too many things all at once, and sometimes it’s hard for me to handle them?” I bit my lip, having just spilled so many secrets, then reached out and stroked his cheek. Jay closed his eyes for a moment, pressing into my palm, then softly kissed its center and whispered tenderly: “Don’t be afraid, my love... I’ll always be here... You won’t have to handle them alone anymore...” I smiled, accepting his promise. But deciding I had already revealed too much, I continued: “And also... You’re too handsome. Too hot... too... intoxicating... like the strongest drug... my... personal drug... and it seems I already have a lifelong addiction,” I whispered, covering his hand with mine, helplessly drowning in the molten, scorching-gentle gold of his eyes. Then, with a teasing half-smile to lighten the heavy sensual atmosphere that had formed between us, I added, “But that doesn’t change the fact that you’re still a Big Bad Tiger, a bandit and a hooligan, got it?” The soft lips in front of me twitched, trying to hide a far-too-understanding smile. Jay pulled me even closer, as if I could go anywhere, and purred hoarsely into my ear: “I won’t deny it, Bambi... but you have no idea how lucky you are that I’m your husband. Because, as everyone knows, bad boys... do it better.” I shivered and clutched his broad shoulders, feeling a wet, blatantly possessive kiss on my neck. I exhaled raggedly: “Do what..? Exactly what..?” He didn’t rush to answer. He slowly trailed hot, open-mouthed kisses down to my collarbones, then just as leisurely made his way back up to my chin. Leaving me breathless and desperately craving his velvet lips on mine, he whispered against them with a completely devilish half-smile: “Sweetheart... you know what they say? Good boys go to heaven, but bad boys bring heaven to you...” I couldn’t breathe. I just couldn’t breathe when he was this close, looking at me like I was the most desirable and delicious dessert he had been craving for far too long. It was an indisputable fact — whenever I was in Jay’s arms, oxygen stopped reaching my lungs. But I didn’t really mind. The air was replaced by the mind-blowing scent of his body. And of course, I knew exactly what he meant by those veiled, subtle hints. So I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulled him almost flush against me, and whispered with a smile, looking at him from under my lashes: “You are my heaven, Jay... my night... my tender dark night... And all I want is for it to never end...” He drew in a sharp breath, pressing his hot forehead to my shoulder, and whispered hoarsely: “Baby... you’re driving me crazy... And when we’re alone and I hear words like that from you, I completely lose my mind. All that’s left is this insane desire to kiss you... and keep going...” Every hoarse word was accompanied by a tender kiss on my neck, my chin, the line of my jaw. My heart kept losing its mind because of him. “Until when..?” I breathed, running my palms down his broad, tense back. Under my trembling fingertips, I felt hot velvet skin and the shifting of steel muscles. A real tiger. Strong, beautiful, graceful. Insanely dangerous. And also... dark, sensual, passionate... seducing with nothing but his deep, hoarse voice, which became even lower as he leaned down and breathed right against my lips: “Until there’s not a single piece of clothing left on you, and you’re underneath me, sweetheart... and I’m inside you... so deep you won’t be able to breathe...” Damn. I almost moaned at his hoarse, sensual whisper. It instantly set my blood on fire. In my mind, everything he described flashed, intertwining with precious memories of our first night together. A shuddering sigh and a barely audible: “And we’ll... be breaking the clinic’s rules?” escaped my lips. His answer was another scorching kiss and a promising: “Without a shred of guilt...” “How long?” “All night long...” After that, Jay’s hot lips robbed me of the ability to speak for a long time. But when he finally let me breathe, a plaintive moan and an accusing: “Jay... How can you be so...” still slipped out. My breathing had long since gone to hell, but he was breathing just as heavily and unevenly as I was, which was somewhat comforting and kept me from completely losing face. Catching his breath, Jay grinned boyishly and cheekily, his eyes sparkling. He rubbed his nose against mine, transforming once again from a dangerous wild tiger into a gentle, harmless kitten, and whispered: “Shamelessly shameless? I know, baby, but I’m afraid... there’s nothing to be done about it. So... you’ll just have to put up with a shameless troublemaker like me... for the rest of your life. Because I’m never letting you go again...” I shook my head, unable to stay mad at him for long, and pulled him closer again, not wanting to let him go even for a second. “Did I say anything against it..? You... are my favorite man... my most favorite and most desired, so... with you I’m... willing to break any rules...” The moment those words left my lips, Jay’s gaze changed again — becoming predatory and openly hungry. He moved over me, covering me with his tall, hot body, stealing my breath once more and making me gasp. “My girl... that’s all I wanted to hear...” he said in a deep voice, hoarse with desire, and leaned down to kiss me again. I reached up to meet him, drowning in him for another endless eternity.
