ㅤ Having chosen a chair of the right height, Rita dug into Raven's blastia, finishing the adjustment of the formula that was supposed to protect the wearer's life force and switch the device to the consumption of mana as the sole source of energy. Rita had been hesitant about performing this dangerous operation for almost five years, carefully honing every detail of the formula, conducting mental and external experiments. She couldn't do it any faster: the structure of the new world had yet to be studied. From scratch. And she had only one chance to reconnect the heart blastia… the most unique blastia she'd ever seen. And she intended to make it even more special. Raven wasn't afraid to die. After all, he'd been dead for a long time. But he certainly didn't want to leave this world in the arms of the girl who loved him. One day, Yuri had given him back the will to live. And to be happy. Rita had given him back the ability to love. And along with it, the fear of hurting someone with his death… Rita had promised to solve the problem at all costs, so that nothing would ever stand in the way of them building a life together, so that nothing would ever darken their feelings. So that Raven would have the courage to take the decisive step… He was too fond of making excuses about how he was about to die. 'This is no joke!' Rita flared up every time. She was afraid… After all, there was more truth in his words than humor. 'We're all going to die someday: some sooner, some later. I could easily be stabbed in my sleep by some assassin—before the blastia even stops working. So what's the point in worrying?' Raven tried to dissuade her not once. Rita was adamant. She wanted to deal with the damned blastia, not so much for him as for herself. She was so immersed in her work that Raven even began to doubt who exactly she loved: him or his "heart"… A sharp pain caught his breath, his vision darkened, his ears began to ring. But at the same moment, Raven felt better than ever. "Well?" Rita asked worriedly. Closing his eyes, touching his chest, Raven took a deep breath, exhaling with a smile and opening his eyes, looking gratefully at Rita. "I forgot that breathing could be so easy." The softness in Raven's gaze made Rita's heart beat faster than her excitement for the already functioning blastia: the one-of-a-kind experiment had been a success. Stroking Rita's cheek, Raven pulled her close. Close to his heart. He showered her with all his tenderness and care through his embrace. So she could finally relax. Breathe. Let tears of relief flow. No longer did she have to fear that the blastia-heart would suddenly stop. No longer did she have to worry that every breath shortened his life. Raven stroked Rita's head, soothing both her and himself. Now he could kiss her without remorse. Now he could live with her without fear of leaving her too soon. He could allow himself to think about something more… 'I love you…’ he still didn't dare say it out loud. However, Rita caught his thoughts, pressing closer. ㅤ
