Once upon a time, there lived a vicious, monstrous creature that was feared by every other species. It lived off their blood, treating it like a life-sustaining ambrosia. It reveled in their helplessness as it drank their precious nectar. Once sated, it held great power, enough to shatter the world. When the sky grew darker, and the shadows trembled ominously, any pure soul around would be doomed to excruciating death by the hand – and the fang – of that creature. Or, as many legends call it, as parents whisper to their kids while telling them another scary fairytale… The vampire. Oh, how easy it is to imagine a proper dwelling for such a blood-lusting beast… Probably a gloomy, massive mansion that looms over thick forests and deep lakes… Or an underground estate to lure victims into its cavernous depths… No matter where the imagination drifts, it etches a bone-chilling picture into the mind and haunts poor mortals in the deepest, loneliest hours of the night. Zeno always prided himself on being born a vampire. He never thought of it as a superhuman race, no… He believed that this otherworldly strength could not compare to that of any human being in terms of influence and dominance. That title was sacred to him, inflating his ego from a young age. How could he not feel like an emperor, growing up with the ability to reshape and destroy? Being a little boy, Zeno always dreamed of one thing – to become so powerful that not a single being on this planet would hold any control over him. That he would become the one to have control over everyone… and everything. “You are my greatest creation… and you will be my greatest mistake.” His father once said, and that phrase was seared into Zeno’s memory and became one of the columns of his ideology. Now, standing tall and proud among rising mountains and chiseled rocks, with a thick, dark cloak fluttering around his figure like a menacing aura, Zeno knew deep inside: “One day, the universe will kneel before me. And once it does, my tooth shall feast upon its essence,my hand shallmold it as I desire, my eye shall envision its glorious future in the arms of its God.” What he didn’t envision, though, or perhaps denied for as long as he could, was that the sheer will of one single mortal would make the vampire throw his every grand idea, every blood-shedding scheme into the void and find himself here… … Among the plush pillows and rich textures, basking in the moonlight like a big kitten. A big, blood-sucking kitten who decided to descend down to earth and collapse into the mundane, but chaotic life of one young woman.𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐔𝐄
