FPE Impetus AU: Grading

*A 4-year-old Engel sits in his room. He's still trying to draw. The door opens. * *Dr. Alexander and Claire are there. * Engel: ... hi Claire. You're back. *Dr. Alexander leaves the room, causing it to lock. * Claire: Hi, Engel. Have you been okay? Engel: y-yeah. oh, I also drew this. *Engel shows Claire a piece of paper. It's a new drawing of a dinosaur. * Claire: That's really cool. ... hey, I was thinking, maybe we could both learn about those. Engel: ... how? Claire: Well, Oliver/K has some books about that sort of thing. Maybe they could read it to us. Engel: Who's Oliver/K? Claire: They're taking care of me. They have for ... years. (probably more than mom has.) Engel: That's awesome. I'm - *Dr. Alexander enters the room, smiling. * Dr. Alexander: Alright. Everything's ready. Engel! I think we're finally going to be able to fix you.  Engel: ... r- rea- Dr. Alexander: Yes. *He can leave. And go back to ... * Engel: Does that mean I'll have to leave? Dr. Alexander: ... you want to stay? Engel: Well, no. But I kind of liked it here. I liked meeting those other people like Alsi and Cerignola. ... and Claire. I want to be able to see them again. Dr. Alexander: well, I ... well . Claire: He could stay with me and Oliver/K. Dr. Alexa: Perfect. Then you can do that. Anyway, we're already ready to perform the operation. I just need to show Claire something before we start. *Dr. Alexa grabs Claire's hand and they leave the room. Before the door closes, Claire and Engel wave goodbye at each other. * Claire: Where are we going? Dr. Alexa: You wanted to see F.EN., right? Claire: *Gasp.* *Dr. Alexa and Claire walk into a hallway with a door at the end of it. She pulls out an ID and scans it and then puts in a code into a padlock. A two-lock system to prevent entry. The door opens. * *The room is too dark for either Claire or Dr. Alexander to see. Dr. Alexander picks up Claire with one of her arms to make sure she doesn't trip on anything. Upon taking a few steps, a glow is present. It's a screen. Claire can only read a little bit of it. Some of the words: "H*ll Horn Blood Poison: White Blood Cell: Full resistance" "Genetic Alteration: 89%." * *Dr. Alexander touches a button on the screen. The lights turn on, allowing Claire to see. A creature sits on the floor. Their arms and legs are pitch black. Small amounts of black liquid. Their eyes are completely closed. * Dr. Alexander: See. She's fine. Claire: ...  *Claire looks directly at them. * *...* *...* *Claire and Dr. Alexa exit the room. * Claire: Mom, why ... why did they do that? Dr. Alexa: ... It's a small side effect of the alteration process. Claire: ... *Dr. Alexa moves through the building with Claire. At the opposite side of the building: a room. A warning sign is attached to it. * *Dr. Alexa grabs a small treat from her pocket and hands it to Claire, who she's still holding. * Dr. Alexa: Before we enter, you need to follow these instructions: Make sure to not yell. It scares them. Don't let go. It won't attack you if you're close to me. Alright? Claire: Yes, Mom. *Dr. Alexa enters the room. No keycard or passcode is needed. * *They enter the room. It's dark, but not so much that it blinds them. * *growls* Dr. Alexa: I'm here.  *A large bipedal figure walks closer to them. It's body, covered in fur makes loud clanging noises against the metal floor. As its face becomes clearer, Claire can see the left side of its face alongside its horns melt; some of it seeps into its eye socket, The matter that falls of is quickly reabsorbed in a cycle that could be considered an abomination to nature. * *The creature is lies on the ground. * Dr. Alexa: *She pets the creature's snout. * Hi. *The creature's ears droop. * I brought someone with me, so don't bite them. *Dr. Alexa lowers her voice. *  Claire! Give them the treat. Remember what I said. Claire (Whispering): okay. *Claire stretches her hand out and puts it in front of the H*ll Horn. It slowly puts out its head and grabs the treat with its teeth, consuming it. * Dr. Alexa: Alright. We'll be leaving. *Dr. Alexa pets it again and leave the room with Claire. * Dr. Alexa: That's all for today. Claire, are you sure that Oliver/K will be okay with Engel being around? Claire: I'm sure. ... will Engel's operation hurt? Dr. Alexa: He'll be on Anastasia. He won't be hurt. Claire: ... What's Anastasia? Dr. Alexa: It makes you go to sleep, to put it simply. Claire: Can I be there before that happens? *... * Dr. Alexa: ... *sighs* Alright.  *Dr. Alexa alters her path. She moves back to Engel's room. The door opens. * Dr. Alexa: Engel. It's time. Engel: ... o - okay. *Engel sits on a room with a test tube. Claire sits beside them. * *Engel grabs onto their wrist and is looking away. * Claire: so, what's the first dinosaur you want to talk about when you're out? Engel: ... I ... I'm not sure. I'd like to start from the beginning. Claire: What does that mean? Engel: Like, ... f - fosl... ... fossils. Claire: Okay. I'll tell them. Engel: c - claire i m scar-red Claire: Why? Did you see anything cool? Claire: Yeah Oliver/K: Really? Claire: I met Engel. My mom even said they could stay with us for a while if that's okay. Oliver/K: Sure. Claire: He also said he wanted to learn about fossils. *Claire enters the home. Oliver/K looks at Dr. Alexander. She has a few documents in her hand. *
