Chapter 19: Friday: My Chance, Your Loss
April 27, 2026 at 7:40 AM
*For nearly the whole day, everything goes smoothly. People go to class. Nobody fails. The final class arrives. Miss Thavel's class. *
Miss Thavel: "All I have for today is your test grades. Maybe you should spend this time saying your last goodbyes."
*Miss Thavel grades each and every test. *
Miss Thavel: "RUBY: 90. Engel: 79. Riley: 75. Petunia: 77. Lizzy: 76. Oliver/Katie: 95. Edward: 92. Zip: 79. Cubbie: 77. Kevin: 80 Too bad he's missing."
*Miss Thavel's neutral expression turns to a smile. Then a small grin. Then ... a large toothy smile. *
Miss Thavel: "Robby: 20. Stay. After. Cla-"
*Robby bolts out of the door before Miss Thavel can finish. Miss Thavel's fur grows out. Her antlers grow alongside her height. She chases after Robby like an animal, dropping the failed paper that held the failing grade that sealed Robby's fate*
RUBY: "no. no no no. ENGEL! DO SOMETHING!"
Engel: "W-what am I supposed to do?"
RUBY: "Don't play d*mb with me. Bubble told me about you protecting Claire. Why can't you help Robby?"
Engel: "I - I'll fail. I failed to save Claire. Even if Alice didn't show up, she still wouldn't have been able to escape due to the exit. I'd just be delaying the inevitable."
*RUBY pauses. It's hard to deny that what Engel said is true but ... she can't just accept something like that. She picks up the paper to save for later. Maybe she can figure out what she did that caused Robby to fail.*
*Robby runs through the hall, wrench in hand. Miss Thavel chases after him. He knows the layout of the school. He makes sharp turns to try and make Miss Thavel lose track of him. *
*As Robby is about to go through a set of doors, he's grabbed by Miss Thavel. *
Miss Thavel: "Another. Student. Another. Failure. Again. Abbie. Lana. Skell. Failures. Don't. Take. It. Personally. "
Robby: "No. I- I promise I-"
*Miss Thavel grabs him by the arms and cr*shes them. *
Robby: "GHAAAAAAAAAA"
*Miss Thavel raises him up and bites down on his legs and pulls, tearing them off. She slashes his stomach open and starts eating it, Robby still conscious. His screams grow quieter. Miss Thavel's about to tear off his head until ... *
*Whoosh. *
*step. *
*Clack *
???: Wha-
*Instinctually, Miss Thavel turns and slashes. *
*Blo*d pours from the person's wounds. The person coughs out blood. *
*It's Miss Sasha. *
*"Sh*t. Sh*t. Sh*t. I-I'm not supposed to kill the other teachers." Miss Thavel thinks. *
*Miss Sasha looks up at Miss Thavel. Miss Sasha wants to say something. Ask for help. Ask for a reason. But she knows she won't get either. There's no mercy left in Thavel. Or Bloomie. Or Circle. Or Compass. She's ... she couldn't save Lilly. *
*"Well ... she's de*d meat either way. I might as well ... " Miss Thavel thinks. *
*Miss Thavel walks towards Miss Sasha. She raises her claw. She swipes. Miss Sasha' face has three chunks of it taken out. Her eyes are ripped out of socket. Thavel stabs her arm into Miss Sasha's lungs, tearing them out and eatting them. Miss Thavel picks Miss Sasha up.*
Miss Sasha (Internally): i - i'm sorry Lilly.
*She raises her to her mouth. She bites down. *
i couldn't -
*CRUCNH. *
*Miss Sasha's stomach falls out, creating a splattering sound on the floor. Ribs fall. Bones break. Miss Thavel lets go. The body falls, all signs of life robbed from it. *
*What's left of Miss Sasha is only recognizable by her clothes. Everything that she hoped for and everyone she wanted to help, is no longer relevant. All. because. of. Them. *
*Miss Thavel rushes away from the scene. *
*The kindergarteners stand in the corner of the room. Most of them don't seem particularly frightened about what they've heard ... except one. *
*When Lilly hears Thavel walk away, she takes steps towards the door. *
"Miss Sasha's fine. " Lies. "She's just checking on a student."
lies. *
*As Lilly walks closer towards the door, she feels blood on her hooves. "It's from one of the students!"
Lies *
*Lilly sees exactly what she expected. Exactly what she hoped would never happen.
The teacher ... no ... the mother she wished she had ... is gone. *
