FPE Impetus AU: Grading

The bell rings, signaling not another class, but a break. Miss Emily: Alright class, remember, we have a quiz about WW1 next week so be prepared. RUBY makes sure to take note of this as she and the rest of the class walk out. Riley starts to run off to the library, but RUBY starts running besides her. RUBY: I assume that you're going to be studying for science and history, correct? Riley: No. I was gonna draw -- RUBY: Oliver/Katie? Riley: Yeah. RUBY: What do you like about them anyway? They always seemed like a huge jerk. Riley: I like a lot of things about them. They'd be perfect for me. RUBY and Riley enter the library. Riley retrieves some paper and pencils while RUBY grabs a history book to try and make practice questions. RUBY: Alright, I have an idea! You say something you like about Oliver/Katie and you answer one of these questions. Riley: What if I don't know the answers? RUBY: Don't worry, I'll tell you. Question --- Riley: Hey! I wanna start with talking about Oliver/Katie first. RUBY: Fine. Riley: Okay. For starters, they're super cool. Long flowing hair. A great smile. Sharp horns. I've even heard they're a university graduate so they've gotta be smart. RUBY: Don't know why a smart person would be eating soap. Hey, aren't you 16? Riley: yeah. Riley considers what Ruby said. She knows that Oliver couldn't be with her because of that. She continues to draw, attempting to keep her face as calm as possible to hide the realization. RUBY: Hello? Are you listening?. I'm just gonna move on to my questions now. *Riley looks at Ruby in preparation for a question she won't know the answer to. * Question #1: Between what years did WW 1 take place? Riley: Uhh. 1900 - 1924? RUBY: No. 1914 - 1918. You really aren't paying attention in class. Riley: You saw what they did to Claire. They'd never judge me for being stab happy. Unlike YOU. RUBY: *RUBY's screen changes from a neutral expression to an upset expression. * I judge you because your DECISIONS are more damaging than you think. Riley: If we're together, I'll have someone who cares about me. All I need to do is get rid of ∆lice. RUBY: ∆lice can't just be "gotten rid of" like that. And why did you phrase the first sentence like that? We care about you. Riley: No, you don't. Skell never pays attention to us. Robby's afraid of me and you always criticize me. I barely even stay around you guys. RUBY: You chose to sit at the opposite side of the class, and I only "criticize" you because I don't want others to be hurt. Riley gets out of her chair. Riley: So what? None of that means you care. All I hear is that NONE of you want to be by me. None of you like MY decisions. Everything that I am is something YOU, Skell, and Robby dislike. Riley runs out of the library with the pictures she's drawn. RUBY: Riley, wait.
