Hey everyone. Don’t ask for my name, just stick with Chris or Christopher — whatever works for you. I just got back from a climb, not gonna name-drop the mountain. That’s not the issue here. Found a girl under some snow and debris, and yeah, she was long gone. My buddies told me to just blow it off and keep trekking, but I couldn’t just leave her like that. Ended up with this crazy urge to bring her home. No idea what the endgame is, I’ll cross that bridge later. Worst case scenario, I’ll just give her a decent burial. Leaving her to rot in the snow just didn’t sit right with me.

Well, I’m back at it again. Don’t even ask what it took to get back to that spot alone, let alone hauling a body down a mountain. I’m a damn microbiologist, not some mountain goat. For now, I’ve just got her thawing out in the tub. She’s frozen solid—if I want to get any work done on her, I’ll probably need a chainsaw to make a dent. Honestly, she’s cute. Looks more like a teenager, maybe seventeen. I think I’ll give her a name. Valerie. Why not? It’s sweet, easy to pronounce, simple to remember. Then again, who the hell knows? She might not even want to talk, or hell, she might not even be able to.
