ㅤ A terrifying shadow engulfed Edna, then quickly vanished, heading for the very peak of the mountain. The place Edna had carefully guarded all these centuries, the place to which her dearest seraph was supposed to return, was now enveloped in impenetrable darkness. Without a second thought, obeying the impulse of her heart, Edna hurried to the peak with all her might, without closing her familiar umbrella. Her entire body, her entire being, seemed to be screaming frantically, trying to say something. Or perhaps it wanted to collapse in hysterics and not take a single step. Edna feared her premonition far more than the darkness itself. At the peak, a dragon met her. The strongest and most vicious, possessing a colossal amount of malevolence. It was time to run, to flee without looking back in panic and fear, but Edna remained. She recognized from his eyes and the familiar element of earth who stood before her. Their meeting should have been her happiest day. The silent tears streaming down her cheeks should have symbolized boundless joy, not a stifled cry of grief. Edna lowered her open umbrella; it was hard to hold it with her weakened hand. She almost let it go, surrendering it to the wind, but something prevented her from doing so. Without realizing it, she clung to it as if her life depended on it. And the tears kept flowing, unstoppable. "Stupid big brother," she miraculously managed to level her voice and hold back the quiet sobs. "I wanted you to finally come back," she clenched her teeth to keep from bursting into tears like a little girl. However, in the end, she still broke into a cry of pain mixed with resentment. "But who said you could come back looking like this!? Why!? Why!?" She fell to her knees, bursting into tears and screaming at the top of her lungs. She didn't want to do anything. It was as if Edna had cried her heart out. She sat by the rock a little distance from the dragon, hiding under her umbrella. She looked at her brother with a blank stare. The dragon didn't touch her, remained quiet. It seemed as if he hadn't yet lost his mind, looking at Edna but not seeing her. 'Does he remember me? Does he know who I am?' she asked herself again and again, their gazes meeting. 'I want to believe,' she lowering her head under the weight of suppressed despair. 'He's still there. He's my brother.' "Are you sure you saw a dragon here?" someone asked hesitantly. One of the locals, who brought regular offerings. "Absolutely!" the companion said enthusiastically. "We'll be able to witness the legend with our own eyes!" 'Fools,' Edna thought quietly to herself, 'to rush into the clutches of their own death.' However, Edna had no desire to do anything, to stop them, because she was certain: 'Brother won't touch them. Otherwise, he would have eaten me long ago.' With a single blow of its paw, the dragon shattered her hopes and faith. The men died instantly, turning to bloody nothingness. He was no longer her brother. She realized it so clearly then. And yet, she didn't leave, but came closer. Had she sought death, having lost all meaning in life? Maybe. But the dragon merely growled, as if trying to scare her off, and flew away, the umbrella nearly blown away by the wind from its mighty wings. 'Does he remember me? Is he still there?' Edna wondered again. The blood rushing to her feet was more than an answer, but a spark of hope pierced through, preventing her from plunging into the power of saving oblivion. 'Only I matter. Only I remain in his memory. And that means only I can protect you from yourself.' She found a new meaning for her existence. Preventing her brother from killing became her goal. To protect the remnants of his soul until she was completely erased from his memory. ㅤ
