Unusually nearly naked, Eizen gazed tensely out at the water, arms crossed over his chest. A pirate skull on his black swimming trunks adorned his most interesting spot. Laphicet splashed in the seawater not far from the shore, watched over by a softly smiling Velvet. Eizen stood barefoot on the soft, fine sand, warmed by the blazing sun. Magilou lay on a lounge chair under an umbrella, enjoying a book. Even Rokurou was enjoying the relaxation, training waist-deep in the water, battling the small waves. The deserted lagoon was truly a paradise.
"Why don't we go for a swim too?" Eleanor smiled invitingly, leaning forward slightly and looking up. She looked incredibly cute in a yellow and orange floral bikini. Eizen grinned.
"Didn't I tell you I can't swim?"
"We're just not going to go deep. And how could I pass up the opportunity to teach you to swim?" Eleanor said enthusiastically, smiling happily.
She wanted to see more emotion on the too often serious Eizen's face. Awkwardness, for a change, when Eleanor would hold his hands while Eizen clumsily splash around in the water. In the end, it was the other way around: Eizen was holding her hands, riding her on the waves. But this "replacement" ceased to matter when Eleanor looked at Eizen's genuine happiness. Her heart skipped a beat with excitement and inspiration. It was so good that she wanted to laugh until she cried, even though the seawater would have hidden it anyway.
Even though Eizen couldn't swim, he wasn't afraid of drowning: that's the advantage of not being human. Little by little, he waded deeper into the water, making it more fun for Eleanor—and then a treacherous wave engulfed them completely. He'd only gone in up to his chest. His wet hair stuck to his cheeks, drops of water trickled down his tempting body, and Eleanor only giggled softly at the ridiculous sight. Eizen had to pull her closer, shielding her from the next wave with his back.
Eizen stood firm as a rock, so Eleanor didn't even feel nervous in his secure embrace—she could allow herself to relax, pressing her cheek to his chest and closing her eyes. Simply savor the moment. Forgetting everything, not even the joyful friends around her. Smiling sadly, Eleanor thoughtfully stroked Eizen's chest. Strong. Handsome. Gently, she ran her hand up his damp skin, brushing away the awkward strands of golden hair. Rising on her toes, she stretched. Eizen leaned in, responding to his undisguised desire with a kiss.
Just one carefree day in a world mired in chaos. Just one moment of peace. It should last forever…
