As a Seraph, Mikleo felt the world being cleansed of malevolence. And the less of it remained, the more anxious he felt about continuing his journey: Mikleo was afraid of getting carried away or going too far, constantly asking himself, 'Is it time? Is it time already?'
In the end, he decided to slowly return to the fateful place where destiny awaited him. And the purer the world became, the faster he sped up. He couldn't afford to be late. But he had no problem waiting. Even for an eternity… Which seemed to have just passed.
Sorey was still asleep when Mikleo reached him. Maotelus already looked pure and bright again, as if he were in a peaceful sleep, not in a purifying union with the Shepherd. Together they eradicated the remnants of the darkness that was trying to devour the world.
When Maotelus no longer needed support, when he was strengthened in both spirit and body, Sorey opened his eyes. Mikleo's smile was the first thing he saw. And the first thing he did was smile back, quietly saying:
"I'm back."
He didn't even think about "good morning." His sleep was more like a journey. He and Maotelus had peered into every corner of the world, but they saw not beautiful landscapes, but a mingling of light and darkness.
"Welcome back," Mikleo grinned good-naturedly, drawing even more attention to himself.
Finally, seeing him, Sorey jerked awake, exclaiming,
"You've changed so much!"
"It's not just me. The only thing that's remained unchanged is you."
A mixture of excitement and sadness stirred his soul. Sorey understood perfectly well that countless years had passed for an ordinary person. Many he knew had long since been reborn. Even the spirits—he glanced at Mikleo—had not remained the same. And the world he protected…
"Will you show me this new world?"
"You will not find a better guide."
No one understood Sorey better than Mikleo. They had always been together since birth. Once upon a time, they had embarked on a journey together. They had explored countless ruins, seen the world. Now they were setting out again. The same, yet so different. And Sorey was glad that some things in this world remained unchanged… No matter what gorgeous tail he grew, Mikleo was still Mikleo. And everything else was no longer so important. They walked the same path…
