APPENDIX X: SECTOR 6 — THE PRIME MERIDIAN

Settings
SECTION 1: GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS SECTOR NAME: The Prime Meridian. Colloquially — The White Silence. CLASSIFICATION: Cryo-temporal Layer-Continent. KEY ELEMENTS: Eternal winter, absolute zero, survival, ancient knowledge. FUNCTION IN THE OCTA SYSTEM: The Prime Meridian is the “archive” and “stabilizer” of Octa. Its icy wastelands serve as a giant heat sink, drawing excess heat away from hotter sectors like Inferno. But its primary, secret function is to be the perfect data storage. DESCRIPTION: The Prime Meridian is a world shackled by eternal ice. An endless continent where life desperately clings to narrow coastal strips and geothermal oases, while its vast heart is plunged into cold unimaginable to most living beings. It is a world where the main enemy and deity is temperature itself, and survival is the art of preserving heat. SECTION 2: GEOGRAPHY AND ENVIRONMENT Coastal Thaw: The habitable zone of the sector. Narrow strips of tundra on the continent’s fringes, where the influence of the warm currents of the Primordial Maelstrom is still felt. The entire biosphere is concentrated here: herds of hardy animals, sparse vegetation, and settlements of locals. The White Wastelands: Boundless ice plateaus occupying most of the continent. It is a dead world, constantly tormented by hurricane winds and the “White Haze”—ice storms capable of burying entire landscapes under snow in a few hours. Pole of Inaccessibility (Heart of Cold): The geographical and metaphysical center of the continent. This is a natural anomaly, a side effect of the climate control system I adapted into a storage facility. A temperature close to absolute zero reigns here. Under these conditions, atoms almost cease movement, and time itself slows down and “crystallizes” within the ice structure. This makes the Pole’s ice an ideal, eternal information carrier capable of storing data without distortion for Aeons. SECTION 3: SOCIETY AND CULTURE Clans: Society is built on the clan principle. Each clan is a large family united by a common territory and the need to survive. The main value is not wealth, but warmth, food, and community. Reverence for Life: Due to the harsh conditions, any life here is sacred. The global Law of Elegant Entropy is perceived not as physics, but as a ritual. Hunting is not killing, but an act of “heat transfer,” where the animal’s spirit is thanked for the sacrifice, and every part of the carcass is used with maximum efficiency. SECTION 4: TECHNOLOGY AND “MAGIC” Survival Technologies: Technologies here are primitive and aimed exclusively at survival. Tools and hunting weapons are made of bone, stone, and rare pieces of frozen wood. Clothing is made of thick hides. The main technology is the skill of building warm dwellings protected from the wind. “Magic” (Psycho-thermal abilities): Path of Fire: Bearers of this gift can consciously raise their body temperature, rapidly heal frostbite, and withstand extreme cold for a short time. Path of Ice: Bearers of this gift possess a form of empathic telemetry. They can “hear” the vibrations of the ice, sense living beings at a distance, predict the weather, and find geothermal springs hidden under the snow. In rare cases, they can enter into resonance with the ice, influencing its structure on a small scale. SECTION 5: ARCHITECT’S ANALYTICAL CONCLUSION The Prime Meridian is my experiment on the theme of absolute limits. It is a world that cuts away everything superfluous, leaving only the very essence: heat and cold, action and contemplation, the will to live and the wisdom to preserve it. But behind the harsh shell of a survival world lies its true purpose. The Pole of Inaccessibility is not just a geographical point. It is a library holding secrets I placed there myself. One day, when the inhabitants of this sector evolve enough to learn not just to survive in the ice, but to “read” it, they will gain access to knowledge capable of changing all of Octa. This sector is not just a refrigerator. It is a sleeping giant.
