Chapter 15

Settings
It had now been three months since that fateful day when the beautiful doctor had come to her rescue. Three months that seemed like six, but also like just yesterday. Alicia and Alyssa had shared so many late-night talks in bed and done so many things together in such a short time. Her parents treated her as their own and she knew she would miss their evening meals together and hanging out on weekends. Alicia had come to love Alyssa and as far as Alicia could tell, the feeling was very mutual. And now they were moving into their new home. Together! Alicia still missed her uncle, and while she'd love to have him back in her life, she couldn't imagine returning to him and their little apartment any more than she could imagine going out on her own. But still… it would be nice to have him around again. She missed him. But she also knew he would be happy for her if he were still alive. He'd miss her presence for a while if she moved out to live with someone else, but his happiness would outweigh any sadness. She would have been just a phone call, an email, and a short drive away anyway. Most of the furniture they'd picked out had already been delivered to the new house. Alicia was surprised at just how much input on styles Alyssa wanted from her. "It's your house," Alicia had insisted. "It's your house, too," Alyssa had also insisted. So together they decided on styles, sizes, and colors of various things. After loading their final box of personal items into Dan's SUV, which was bigger than Alyssa's compact sports car, Rayna hugged her in a warm embrace and said, "I'm gonna miss you, you know." "Me too, but we'll visit a lot," Alicia said, glancing at her tall, hot, blue-eyed lover. "We sure will," Alyssa chimed in. "Remember," said Rayna to Alicia, "we're always here for you. If you get sick of Doctor Blakely's bossiness, just give us a call and you can always run and hide from her here." Alicia laughed but wasn't so sure that Alyssa found the offer very amusing. "I think I can survive the good doctor's domineering ways. One gets rather used to it in time." She and Rayna laughed while the tall beauty with the sexy hair carried one last box around them and to the SUV, a serious expression fixed upon her face. When all was said and done, Rayna hugged them both one last time, and then Dan drove them to their new house. It was only about a six-minute drive, so it would be simple enough for them to visit either on foot or by bike if they wanted to. Up in the front seat next to her father, Alyssa said, "Not so sure I like being so close to you guys." "Why?" her dad asked curiously. "You never know how often this one," she said, motioning toward the back seat, "will want to pop in on you." "Nothing wrong with that. That's what we're here for, right, kiddo?" Alicia laughed at the thought of being called 'kiddo' at her age. "Right, but I'll be sure to call first so I don't visit at an inconvenient time." "It shouldn't be inconvenient at all." "If I just want to say hi or I get nervous about being alone, I'll probably see you." "Good idea, kiddo, good idea." Alyssa said nothing as she stared out the window. They pulled up and unloaded the vehicle. Alicia didn't understand why Alyssa's mood seemed to be souring as it was. She'd just purchased a beautiful new home. What was the problem? Life was good. She should be happy, shouldn't she? "You ok?" she asked her when her father stepped out of the house to grab another box. "Yeah," she said with a smile. "We'll talk soon." But the iciness in her eyes said she was anything but fine. While the rest of the boxes were hauled in, Alicia racked her brains trying to figure out what it was she might have said to set Alyssa off but was unable to come up with anything logical. Maybe she was simply PMSing, although it seemed that she had finished her period last week, right around the same time she had. "Ok, girls," said Dan as he was about to leave, "enjoy your new turf." He threw an arm around both of them and then left, saying something about having to hurry home to comfort his wife, who was no doubt already experiencing Empty Nest Syndrome. Alyssa laughed and then she shut the beautiful door with the stained glass windows flanking it. She turned to face Alicia and then her smile dropped so far that Alicia almost found it hard to believe it had existed just a second ago. "Now," she said sternly, "come with me." Alicia followed her over to the new cobalt blue sofa. "What'd I do?" Once seated, Alyssa said, "You are committed to me now, right?" "Of course," Alicia confirmed with a nod. "And I'm committed to you." Alicia nodded again. "That means we rely on one another for support." "Well, no kidding, silly." "Shh-shh-shh," Alyssa said firmly. "Remember that master-slave thing we discussed?" "Yeah, but I still don't—" Alyssa hushed her again. "The point is you can't be running to everyone else when the shit hits the fan and I'm not here to dry your tears." Alicia blinked, stunned by what she was hearing. "I don't get it. I can't…" "Visiting my parents is fine every now and then, but you've got to learn to deal with things on your own when I'm at work and remember that I won't be gone forever." "I know that. I won't be bugging them regularly if that's what you're worried about, even though they said they wouldn't mind." "Hmm," Alyssa said doubtfully, "they do have things to do and they do have their own lives, retired or not." Alicia found it hard to believe that they would lie to her and tell her to come around anytime if they really didn't want her to, but then again, Alyssa would certainly know her own parents better than she did. "I won't burden them. I promise." "It's not just that, Alicia, but remember our agreement, ok? I know you're new to this dominance and control thing, but you gotta remember, it's just a game and I would never ever even think of doing anything that would harm you or jeopardize your emotional state of mind, ok?" Alicia said nothing, not sure if there was more to it that Alyssa wasn't telling her, or if she was just too stupid – perhaps inexperienced – to pick up on by herself. "You gotta trust me now, ok?" Alicia nodded again, just as confused as she was a few minutes ago. Why wouldn't she trust her? She'd saved her life. She'd given her a home. She'd made sure she had food in her stomach. She'd gotten her medical needs taken care of. What was there not to trust? Life went on and she and Alyssa fell into a comfortable routine. Alicia would come running into her arms like a puppy eager to see its master when she returned from the office after a long day of seeing patients, some she genuinely cared for, others she wished she could slap upside the head and refer to someone else. "Alyssaaaaahhhh!" Alicia exclaimed as she happily flew into her arms before she could get the door shut. God, she loved that. "Hey, you." Then she sniffed the air. "Smells good in here." "I made us one of the few things I can cook well enough – spaghetti." "Smells delicious," the doctor said with that sexy smile that always won Alicia over both in and out of bed. "When do we eat?" "Right now." Alyssa removed her white medical coat, which she used as a light jacket. Although it was now February, there was still a chill in the air during the early and late parts of the day. Alyssa tossed her coat and handbag aside and went to use the bathroom. When she returned, her fine little lady was placing the dishes on the table. They sat down at the sparkling new glass table under the lovely dining room light and began to eat. "Alicia, this is great," Alyssa said as she devoured the food hungrily. She hadn't realized just how truly hungry she was until she dove into the perfectly cooked spaghetti that was lightly sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. "I'm glad you like it," she said. While the doctor enjoyed her food, her mind churned. How soon should she break Alicia into what she had in mind, and what was the best way to go about doing it? This was new to her as well. All she knew was that just like a serial killer had the uncontrollable urge to kill, she had the uncontrollable urge to dominate. Really dominate, and that included their time out of bed as well as in it. She was just afraid to do too much too fast. Up until now, however, their sex life had been pretty typical of any lesbian couple, and while she enjoyed it immensely – way more so than she thought she ever would, and way more so than with any guy she'd ever been with – she needed something more. She wanted something unique, something she could surprise both herself and Alicia with every time they got together, and that would carry over into their non-sexual moments as well. "Remember what we talked about last night?" Alicia nodded. "You want to make a slave of me in a good and fun way. It's just a game, you won't hurt me, and if you do invoke a little pain and it gets to be too much, I can always say so. The point is to just have fun, right?" Alyssa nodded, then picked up her water glass. "Yes, but the key is trust. If you feel you can't trust me, then the game will be harder to play." "Why is that?" Rayna listened along with her husband as their daughter and Alicia excitedly explained the house they’d seen earlier in the day. “I really think this is it, Mom!” Alyssa exclaimed. “And she wants me to move in with her!” Alicia piped in even louder. Rayna, her husband, and their daughter cracked up in a fit of laughter so hard that they could barely sit up straight on the U-shaped sectional where the foursome sat. Once the laughter died down, they discussed the details. Alicia didn’t have much to contribute, and Rayna had the distinct feeling that all that really mattered to her was that she wouldn’t be left behind by her daughter. Although she knew she had no say in whether Alicia remained with her and Dan or went to live with Alyssa, Rayna wasn’t sure it was a very good idea for either Alicia or Alyssa if Alicia went to live with her daughter. Needing to get up early for work the next day, Alyssa turned in around ten, with Alicia following close behind, as usual. “You ready for bed already?” Rayna asked Alicia as they walked down the hallway. “Not really, but I can read until I’m tired enough.” “I just don’t want her coming and going from the bedroom while I’m asleep,” Alyssa said with a smile. “Well, soon you’ll have your own bedroom,” said Rayna. The two ladies said nothing more than a final “good night,” and Rayna wondered if they would really have their own bedroom once they moved. “So, what do you think about Alicia living with Alyssa?” Dan asked when they were tucked into bed themselves around eleven. “Shh,” said Rayna. “They’re still only a wall away. I’m not sure what to think, to be honest, but I have a theory.” “What’s that?” “That Alicia has a crush on Alyssa.” Dan blinked, unsure of what to say at first. Finally, he said one simple word: “Wow.” “Nothing wrong with it,” said his wife. “I’m just not sure how Alyssa feels. When have you ever known her to have any interest in women?” “Never. But we don’t know what the hell goes on in our daughter’s private mind and life either, hun. Did you tell your parents everything?” Rayna giggled and playfully pinched her husband. “Hardly.” “So how do you feel about the idea of them being together?” Dan asked. “I’ve always wanted Alyssa to do what makes her happiest. Man, woman… I don’t care, as long as it makes her happy.” Dan began to sing If It Makes You Happy by Sheryl Crow. “Shh!” Rayna hissed, covering another eruption of giggles with the back of her hand. “Come on, let’s be serious.” “I am being serious. Aren’t you?” Laughing, Rayna said, “Happy or not, same-sex or not, I just wonder if they’re right for each other. I know it’s not for anyone else to decide, but I worry Lys is going to run out of patience with Alicia sooner or later. Alicia’s a big responsibility.” Dan snorted. “Not that big.” “She may not need diapers changed or to be fed and bathed, but if she’s left alone that long, she’s bound to get anxious. Maybe even depressed.” “The good doc doesn’t work as often as most people, my dear. You know that.” “Yes, but when she does, she works long hours. Very long. Sometimes she’ll go in at seven in the morning and not return until seven at night.” “No reason Alicia can’t stay here during those days, just like she can stay here if she doesn’t go with Alyssa during her travels.” “Yeah, I know she could, but that’s not it. I just worry about Alyssa and the added responsibility of caring for someone. She already has enough people to take care of on her patient panel.” “This is different.” “I know,” said Rayna, “and that’s the thing. She’s not used to just taking someone under her wing like that.” “Maybe the responsibility will be good for her. I hate to say it, but we’ve kind of spoiled our daughter at times, and she can be a bit selfish. Caring for patients is a far cry from caring for someone in your own home.” “So you think it will work out?” “Don’t know for sure,” said Dan, “but it’s definitely worth a try. We’ll be here as a backup for Alicia. If, for whatever reason, she can’t stay with Lys, she can stay with us until she gets a place of her own.” “Ok,” Rayna said as she turned off the bedside lamp and snuggled deeply under the covers. Although she had her doubts for reasons she couldn’t quite explain, she would let the ladies do what they wanted and hope for the best. That was all she could do anyway.

“How did you know?” Alicia asked Alyssa when they went walking after work the next day. Keeping her eyes on the ground ahead of them, Alyssa cracked a smile. “What’s so funny?” “Just the way you sometimes ask these generalized questions and expect me to know what you’re referring to. How did I know I wanted to be a doctor? Or how did I know I wanted to rescue you from the streets?” “How did you know I liked you?” Alyssa’s grin grew wider. “As in really liked you?” “Well, I guess you’re just more obvious than you think at times,” she said, smoky blue eyes boring into Alicia’s emerald ones. Alyssa threw an arm around her, and Alicia threw one around her in return. “So, is the good doc going to finish our little restaurant discussion?” “Yeah, but there really isn’t much more to discuss. It’s just one of those lifestyles you’re either into or you’re not.” “But since it’d be new to both of us, what happens if one of us doesn’t like it?” “Then we stop. Simple as that.” “So, what’s the furthest you’ve ever gone with a woman in the past?” “Mmm… about six thousand miles.” Alicia roared with laughter, which got Alyssa laughing as well. “That’s hilarious as hell, Doc, but I was asking a serious question. You don’t have to answer, of course. I was just curious about you, that’s all.” “I’ve done stuff,” Alyssa admitted. “Nothing as serious as what we’re talking about, though.” “Well, for whatever it’s worth, I think you’re pretty damn hot from head to toe.” “Why, thank you, ma’am. You’re quite a cutie yourself.” “You know what the first thing was that I noticed about you?” “What was that?” Alyssa asked, smiling happily and striding along contentedly. “Your sexy smile.” “Yeah?” Alicia nodded. “And then your height. I have a thing for tall women.” “You do? What about blue eyes and blond hair?” “Actually, I usually prefer them dark. You’re one of those rare exceptions.” “Oh, lucky me,” Alyssa said with a chuckle. “You were very kind, caring, and patient with me, and that meant a lot.” “Aw.” “It isn’t just physical, but something about your personality turns me on as well,” Alicia said, no longer afraid to be overly descriptive. “I love your compassionate yet confident nature.” Again, Alyssa threw an arm around her, this time pulling her more tightly. “And I love your cuteness, your energy, and your goofy nature.” They walked in silence for a few minutes, each enjoying the closeness as they moved slowly, hand in hand. Then Alyssa said, “So, you gonna be my little sex slave?” Alicia looked up, a bit surprised. It wasn’t what she’d expected from the good doc. She wasn’t any less delighted or turned on, though. “I can be your little anything, Doc.” “I’m going to count on that,” Alyssa said with a sexy wink. “What kinds of things must your slave be required to do, sexy doc?” “Mmm…” Alyssa said, leaving Alicia to wonder if she wasn’t sure yet or was just holding back. “Do you have any suggestions?” she finally asked. “Not really. I thought you’d know more about it than I do. Figured you’d have at least researched the matter if you haven’t actually talked to anyone with firsthand experience.” A slight smile tugged at the corners of Alyssa’s lips, and Alicia wasn’t sure what to make of it. Sometimes she just wasn’t readable. “We’re just about at the house now, so we can discuss it more later, ok?” Alicia nodded, sorry that her curiosity had to wait… unless Alyssa didn’t want her to know certain things in advance. “Want to help me cook dinner tonight and surprise Mom and Dad with one of their favorites?” Alicia nodded again. The truth was, she really didn’t care for cooking. She just liked hanging out with Alyssa. Besides, whether or not she enjoyed cooking, there was nothing wrong with doing for those who had graciously done for her. They whipped up a tuna noodle casserole with a tossed salad on the side. Dessert consisted of cheesecake for four. Alicia hadn’t been this happy in ages. In fact, maybe she had never been this happy before. Alicia plopped into bed that night, the bench at the foot of the bed long since abandoned, and snuggled closely with Alyssa. The two rubbed their bodies together and playfully giggled and tickled each other. Alicia would squeal a little too loudly here and there, and Alyssa had to remind her to quiet down. Alicia lay awake in the darkness long after her sexy doctor’s breathing had become regular, never looking forward so much to just what goodies the future held for the two of them. Rayna listened along with her husband as their daughter and Alicia excitedly explained the house they’d seen earlier in the day. “I really think this is it, Mom!” Alyssa exclaimed. “And she wants me to move in with her!” Alicia piped in even louder.
