When you grow ever farther from someone,
When you wake before dawn, again and again,
If life presents its lesson to you,
Bring yourself a share of the blame there too.
For all of this once belonged to your days,
Once you loved and cherished in friendly ways,
But a change broke into the scene,
A serpent crept in, the venom of betrayal unseen.
You stopped, you fell silent, no answers returned,
And life locked its frame to a circle more stern.
Now friends are gone, no one remains near,
Now you stand alone, don’t wait for a cheer.
So back to the net you timidly stray,
And loneliness calls you, loud in its way.
You don’t like its voice, but there’s nothing to do,
Time to swallow your words and remake life anew.
