"Why hasn't she opened her eyes yet its been a moon!" A tom snarled.
"I don't know why." A she cat spoke from above Frost.
"Freckle and Stone already opened their eyes why hasn't Frost opened hers yet?!" The tom hissed. Frost could feel the tension in the barn rising as the two cats fought. Frost finally started to open her eyes. Slightly seeing a spotted silver she cat whom was laying down but her fur was ruffled, Her ears were pinned down. Frost then saw the tom his pelt a mix of orange and brown with dark brown stripes his ears were pinned and she could hear him snarl through his gritted teeth. He glared at Frost.
"Tch. Pathetic what great timing." He snarled at her.
"You know what I'm done with you and these kits." He hissed, His tail lashing.
"I left my clan for this?" He snarled, a cold tone had entered his voice.
Then the tom muttered something under his breath.
"What did you just say?!" The she cat hissed.
"You know what we are done. I'm leaving!" The tom snapped.
"How could you?! I trusted you! You know they won't let you back into the clans. You will be all alone in the streets!" She snarled at him
"It's better than being in this hell!" He snapped.
"Feather'Heart How could you?!" She snapped, her eyes were wide with surprise and fear.
"Well Long'stream guess what! I don't care!" He snapped and turned around. With his claws unsheathed he made a deep slash in the barn wall and left.
Frost saw the tears form in her mothers eyes. Long Stream sat there almost as if she were frozen in time.Tears fell to the ground silently. The only sound made was the wind. Freckle mewed and crawled towards Long Stream. She pushed him away roughly with her paw. Freckle whimpered. A large tom came in and he had a stripped ginger pelt with charming golden eyes.
"Long Stream!" He quickly rushed to her side resting his tail on her shoulders to comfort her as he sat down next to her. Long stream rested her head on his shoulder finally making pained cries. She started to sob.
"It's going to be ok. Can you tell me what happened?" He asked.
"He left me!" Long Stream sobbed.
"Scout He left me and the kits in this dump!" She sobbed her breathing was heavy.
Scout wrapped his tail protectively around Long Stream but also comfortingly.
"It will be ok. He was a fox hearted mouse brain anyway." Scout said in his tone there was a hint of something maybe jealousy or hatred.
"How was I so stupid? Why couldn't I see it coming? I was so weak and vulnerable." Long Stream breathed heavier claws digging the ground.
"You are not stupid Long Stream. That mouse brain is not worthy of you." Scout reassured her.
"You are right. You know what? I am going to train my kits until they become strong enough so that one day one of them could be strong enough to kill two foxes in one night." Long Stream hissed.
Long Stream got up and walked to up to Frost, Freckle, and Stone.
"From now on there will be no sleeping in the comfort of the hay. The ground can toughen you up and only two meals a day no more needy crap like that." Long Stream hissed at the kits.
"Long Stream." Scout started but stopped.
"What are you questioning me now?" She asked him, flicking her tail with annoyance.
"No I was jus-" Scout was cut off again by Long Stream.
"Good, now make yourself useful and hunt." She hissed harshly at the tom.
He hesitated but then nodded. Frost watched Scout leave the barn to go hunting.
After that day Long Stream was never the same again moons after moons of training she got harsher and more cruel.
~Seven moons later~
Frost slashed Stones flank. Stone shrieked as Frosts claws ripped through her skin.
"Keep going!" Long Stream snapped.
Long Stream was sitting on a broken chair nearby. It was just training but it felt like a fight to prove to our mother that we were useful. She told us that whenever one of us loses we wont get dinner for two days straight.
Frost slid under Stone and slashed at her stomach then slid around her leg and leaving a fast slash on Stones ankle. Stone whimpered in pain. Frost got up quickly ready to attack again when she saw Stone come raging at her, her claws fully unsheathed. Then Stone head butted Frost hard. Causing Frost to fall into a bucket nearby hitting her head. Stone slashed Frosts flank and started to claw deeper.
"WHAT THE HELL!" A large yowl sounded from the barn entrance.
Frost looked up, blood was trickling down from her torn ear. It was Scout he had returned from his hunting.
Stone slashed one last time at Frost's right eye. Blinding her in the eye.
"Scout, they are just training!" Long Stream snarled.
"By Killing each other???" Scout rushed over to Frosts side and helped her get up.
"You know what Scout you really are just annoying." Long Stream snarled.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Scout hissed.
"You can leave. Now. You were never useful. Plus now my kits can hunt for me. Isn't that right? Other than hunting you are useless. So you might as well leave." Long Stream pointed her claw at the entrance to the Barn door.
Scouts ears pinned down to his head, his eyes widened.
"But I thought I could be the new father to your kit-" Scout was cut off as Long Stream blew a slash from her claws on his muzzle. Causing him to stumble backwards.
"Leave now before I actually kill you!" Long Stream snapped, a cold glare steady on Scouts face.
"FIne." Scout sighed heart broken.
Scout walked out of the barn.
Frost stood there and quickly padded off behind him.
"And where the hell do you think you're going?" Long Stream hissed.
"With my real family." Frost huffed angrily following behind Scout.
Frost saw not even a small flicker of sadness or regret in her mothers eyes.
"Fine go you were weak and pathetic anyway." Long Stream called after the two.
After a few minutes Frost finally managed to catch up to Scout.
Scout jumped over the wooden fence with ease.
"So where are we going?" Frost asked the large tom.
"The clans. We'll see if they are kind enough to us." Scout murmured.
Frosts just nodded she never was past the fence of the barn. So that meant every step she takes outside the fence is a new piece of land she had never stepped in before in her whole entire life. Frost jumped on top of the fence. Her paws wobbled below her. Then she fell down on the new ground. She grunted in pain as dust went into her right eye. Her right eye burned.
"Here let me pick you up on my back." Scout instructed.
Frost nodded once. Then Scout picked her up, now carrying her on his strong back. Frost held on to his back. Not painfully but enough to keep her on his back without falling. Frost looked to the sunset and it was starting to get dark. Frost's right eye kept bleeding, so frost just closed her eyes and ended up falling asleep anyway.
