In the beginning of time, only Aisha, Goddess of Life, existed. She was so tall, some say she almost grazed heaven and her eyes were jade green. No one, not even she knows how she was born. Some say she is the love of the sun and moon, cast to Earth, where they could watch her for eternity. She spent her days creating plants and creatures, but she became awfully lonely. So, she took a piece of her heart and planted it in her garden, catering to it for years until finally one day. But nothing happened, until Aisha realized, the greatest magic requires sacrifice. So, she prayed to the moon, offering her immortality in exchange for a friend, a sister.
Then one morning, woman with skin that matched the soil she was planted in, and deep blue eyes appeared. Morrigan, Goddess of Death. Due to Aisha’s desire, all the creatures and well as herself would one day die. Aisha didn’t realize her selfishness would affect other beings as well and she cried for months. She dared not say she made a mistake, because she loved Morrigan and would tell her so through her tears, which seemed to never stop.
One early morning, Morrigan went out and offered a piece of her soul to the sun, praying for a way to save Aisha’s creations so that she won’t have to mourn them anymore. The next day, Zara, Goddess of Rebirth, arose from the waters. Her eyes were fierce gold and her hair as long and flowy as the water she was born from. Although she couldn’t stop death, she gave beings another chance at life.
The Goddesses lived in peaceful harmony until humans were created. In the beginning, the Goddesses interacted and lived amongst humans, but then humans would pick their favorite Goddess to pray to and ask for favor. Some asked for strength, some magic, some riches. Very few requests were denied.
Until Haemir, a human once denied the power to overtake others, came to Zara, telling her that humans and spirits alike said she was a useless Goddess and they were praying to her sisters for her death to come sooner. Zara ran crying to her sisters asking if it was true and they denied it. But Zara, convinced Aisha’s love for humans and Morrigan’s love for her would mean her death. She ran away to the sky, creating the Third Realm, and sealed it off except to those she deemed worthy of reincarnation. Aisha and Morrigan begged for Zara’s return every day, but in fear of a trap, Zara never came down.
In a final attempt, Morrigan went to the sky’s door and begged Zara to come out. Aisha was ill and most likely didn’t have much time left. But Zara refused to be fooled. Aisha passed without ever seeing her youngest sister again and she cried out for her in her final moments.
Morrigan, couldn’t bear all the memories of Aisha and went beneath the Earth, taking the spirits with her, creating the Second Realm. Leaving the land of the living, which was now called the First Realm.
Many years passed and without others getting favors from the Goddesses, Haemir killed many and stole even more. When he was finally killed in battle, Zara personally ushered him into the Third Realm. But when she grabbed his soul, to clean it for his new form, she realized how blackened it was. Those who enter the Third Realm are unable to lie, so when she asked him how his deepest parts were this dark, he confessed to all he had done, including deceiving her to leave her sisters.
Immediately, she rushed to the Third Realm to find Morrigan. When she found her, she was old and sitting in a blanket, staring out at a dark pond. Morrigan smiled when she saw Zara, she held out her arms when Zara began to cry and apologize. She explained everything and Morrigan listened, assuring her it was fine.
The first punishment floor in the temple was created for Haemir. For eternity, Morrigan allowed those he wronged, and their descendants do as they wish to him. She made sure he would feel it and when those spirits got bored, he was buried, inhaling dirt until someone was ready for him again.
Morrigan died in Zara’s arms shortly after. Zara felt cheated, she lost so much time and she didn’t say goodbye to Aisha, she never got to say sorry. She decided the selfishness of man was to blame and decided no one deserved to be reincarnated ever again. She sealed the Third Realm and waited to join her sisters. But the sun and the moon couldn’t allow Aisha and Morrigan’s wishes die with them. There is a single reincarnation we continue to see every few decades. A council was formed to find and educate each reincarnation of the Goddesses, with the hope that one reincarnation would be able to reopen the Third Realm.
But none had, then a seer came forward, with a prophecy. The reincarnations must fully reflect the Goddesses to obtain the power Zara used to close off the skies. For centuries, it seemed like a lost cause, until 3 young girls were presented to the council. The first reincarnation without a boy since the beginning of it all.
The girls’ identities were immediately hidden, only to be revealed after Rebirth’s 17th birthday, when her powers will be fully matured. They will be trained in secret until the Third Realm can be opened again.
