Chapter 27

Settings
Janelle Stone giggled to herself as she updated her online journal. She hadn't provided the link for Boris or Lauren to the blog. Instead, she would let them go a little crazy trying to find it. She hadn't made it too hard for them to find it, but she wanted them to have to work at it at least a little. Janelle wrote vivid descriptions of how she hired people to kidnap Boris. Then she also included details of their time together. I've got to admit that having the tables turned and them at my mercy was almost a godlike experience. Nothing can undo what they and others have done to me. Nothing can destroy the memories I'll always have to live with. But to say this was quite therapeutic for me is the understatement of the century! Just the look on Lauren's face was especially amusing. It was a lot like the look she would have present on her face when I would talk about moving to Florida and doing things she believed in her mind at the time would never come to fruition. Hopefully, I sent a message to law enforcement in general about what can happen when you play god with people's lives and emotions. I'd like to think they've learned their lessons and will change their ways. But you know what? Sadly, I don't think they ever will. I think they're always going to think they're invincible and can do whatever the fuck they want. These people only care about themselves and getting what they want, and they will do it at anyone's expense. I'm just proud of myself for fighting back, and I hope it will encourage others to at least try to do the same. There's no excuse for law enforcement personnel promising to help someone who went through all I went through when their real intentions were to seek legal revenge upon them. Especially when it involves someone who approached me first and someone who named me in a crime that can never be proven. Because I had nothing to lose, I told my houseguests that yes, I was responsible for what happened to Stephanie and Ramona and why. But as for Boris's little buddy, well, he shouldn't have put his hands in my face to begin with. How was I to know his intentions and how far he might go at the time? I only did what I had to do to protect myself. Did I know he was going to die? No, I didn't. Do I regret what I did? No, I don't. Life's too short to be full of regrets. I regret that I couldn't have spent a little more time with Boris and Lauren under my "care." But when you hire criminals who can be unpredictable, well, they can change your plans. That's why I had to take off earlier. I wasn't gonna wait around for things to head south. They got greedy. They had guns. There were three of them and just one of me. I'm still grateful to them for their help. It would have been very hard for me to pull off the kidnapping on my own because even though my appearance had changed a bit, they would have recognized me. Boris Brownly pulled back from his monitor, shaking his head in disgust as the sicko went on to describe her daily life in Montenegro, which mostly consisted of daily chores of cleaning and spending quality time with her pet guinea pig, and her number-one thing to do, which was eating. She also mentioned a particular street name and wondered if it existed and if it was really near her, if it did, or just to throw law enforcement off. He quickly checked and found that there was such a street. That would be his starting point. He would go there with her picture and ask the locals if they had seen her. The only problem was language barriers. Not everyone there spoke English. But English was Stone’s only language, and she managed to get by somehow. His buddy in the tech department wanted to go over there with him, but he wanted to go by himself. He knew that if he took his friend, he would try to talk him out of what he planned to do. The hard part was going to be leaving the country before anyone knew what had happened. He accepted that he might not make it out alive and was OK with that. He knew he should be telling himself that Janelle Stone wasn't worth his life, but in truth, she was worth just about everything. If he were still young, with his whole life ahead of him, that might be different. Instead, he was 60 years old, and even though he may only have about 25 years left to live, the thought of living with the humiliating and degrading things she and the others had put him through didn't sit well with him. As funny as it may sound, if he had 50 or more years, he might be a little more willing to learn to live with it. But most of his life and career were now behind him, and he didn't have a wife or a serious girlfriend either. He had never been one for relationships. He didn't like being tied down and told what to do. His last relationship was bad enough, with the woman reminding him constantly of just how obsessed he was with Janelle Stone. And soon he would be feeding that obsession a little more.
