Before the Dance

Elizabeth smiled as she heard an exasperated sigh followed by a knock on the door. “Lizzie, why aren’t you done yet? It’s well past seven and everyone’s expecting us,” Spenser said and she heard him mutter something under his breath about women taking forever. “Just a few more minutes.” she said as she picked the lipstick up, only to be met by another sound of annoyance. “You said that half an hour ago. The dance has already started; even Solana’s out there and you know how much of a perfectionist she is when it comes to appearance!” The Base Leader just shook her head as she chuckled, applying the lipstick before adding a light layer of blush and eye shadow. She stepped back and looked at herself in the full-body mirror, nodding in approval as she picked up the dress in one hand before unlocking the door. Spenser fell backward onto the floor, causing his tamed hair to fritz back up. He didn’t even seem to notice as his eyes widened and his mouth opened, making Elizabeth smile as she put a hand over her mouth. “Need a hand?” She bent down a bit and extended her hand, helping her best friend up as he continued to stare at her. She shook her head and brushed the back of his suit off, trying to clean it so he wouldn’t look like a complete slob when they entered. He just continued to stare as she rolled her eyes and snapped her fingers in front of his face, snapping him out of his stupor. “Persian got your tongue?” “I, er… Uh… You…look amazing…” Spenser pulled at the collar of his suit, tugging his tie down a little but she straightened it up. He grunted a bit as he frowned, but she just shook her head. “It needs to be straight, Spenser. Stop acting like a child at a wedding,” she scolded lightly and he just huffed, shoving his pockets, though pulled one out a moment later and offered it to her. His eye caught hers and she smiled as she nodded, gently placing her hand in his as they walked out to the dance floor.
