Chapter 1

As usual, the Obrevi sun sat overhead, casting its rays on all who milled about or rested its comforting warmth. A Raikou lay in a plaza in a large city, napping away under the tropical heat. For the moment, he had not a care in the world. The previous day had been extremely tough as a fire had broken out and he'd been required to oversee the healing of those involved. A good chunk of a town had burned down, but the construction efforts up to the Light Oracles were already underway. Thankfully, few lives had been lost to Beventi's swift intervention.
However, footsteps approached him and he cracked an eye open. A woman with dark blue hair clad in blue and white clothing took up his vision. He sighed and raised his head. "What is it, Beventi?" He had stayed awake long into the night to ensure people were healed. Shouldn't he get a day to relax? Then again, as teacher, he never really had any time to relax or anything of the like. He was a healer. He was always on call should an emergency come up. He never got days off like others might...
"There is an issue with King Serono. He's attempting to stop the exchange of Thunder Oracles and Priests from Brakal." Hideron frowned at that. The man had always been
heavily
against Thunder users going to the White Family's island in order to be trained to be nonjudgmental. This was most disturbing. But he'd never attempted to stand in their way. What was he doing? It was too important. The Thunder users were
healers
. It was absolutely
imperative
Thunder users not have any sort of caste-based judgment toward others. They needed to see people above all else. For a king to attempt to stop them from leaving and returning... Something was wrong.
"Have you attempted to speak to him? What of Ludoes?" Hideron sat up and looked at his sister. Human form or not, he recognised her anywhere. Then again, asking Beventi to be diplomatic was like asking a Staraptor to not fly. She had always been the most aggressive of the three beast siblings... What a mess. He hated being the diplomat, but it was kind of his area. Ludeos had been so separated from Obrevi society that he really wasn't someone that could be relied on either... What a mess.
"Urenen hasn't responded to any of our requests for help." Of course he didn't. He was so pulled back from society that it really fell on the three beasts, Sunviel, Pereli, and Taerin to run the region smoothly. What a mess. He was the first Obrevi king. Why wouldn't he help out more? Hideron found him beyond frustrating but there was nothing anyone could do to sway him.
"I'll go see what I can do." He stood up and stretched then began to run. There was no point in holding back. He could transform into his human form, but it would take far too long. This sounded like an emergency. He was a first responder, so having access to his Pokemon form was too important. Why would the stupid king think he could stop people from doing what was required of them...? He loved humans, but they so lacked forethought at times... Their short lifetimes made them miss so much like the cycles of abuse and such permeated Obrevi society. He loved them, but they could be so dense and stupid at times...
It took about thirty minutes for Hideron to arrive at the shores of Bragivol. A ship sat out in the middle of the channel between Brakal and Bragivol, blockaded by another ship. A small contingent of people stood on the shore, obviously arguing. At this range, even Hideron couldn't make out the words. But he transformed into his human form and approached them, arms folded.
"Uranen!" Hideron barked. The small entourage of people turned around, one of them with a crown sitting on his head. The current king. He hadn't met a ruler stupider since that damnable queen that had started the Civil Flame. She had let a single prophetic dream nearly raze the region to the ground a
second
time which was absolutely horrendous. He hoped that the king here wouldn't instigate another such war. The region would
not
be able to sustain such injuries again...and there was no telling what Filogi would do. The Great Burning had been bad enough.
The man instantly started to wring his hands together and looked around. "Ah, Idavo... What are you doing here?" It wasn't hard for him to read the man's aura. He was incredibly anxious and nervous. Stupid man. He had already picked a fight with Beventi which was incredibly stupid. Dragging Hideron in meant a peaceful solution, but it didn't make him any less intimidating. He still stood a fair bit taller over most Obrevi people.
"My sister told me what you're doing. Why are you attempting to stop the exchange of Thunder users from one island to another?" He folded his arms, tone cool and collected. Inside, though, his chest and throat burned. He wanted to toss this idiot man into the sea. So far, his reign really had been nothing but idiocy. How he had come from his father before him, he didn't understand. It was maddening. Hopping from a good ruler to an absolutely incompetent one was always beyond frustrating, but there was nothing they could do about it. The legendaries were all one family, sworn to aid the Irionde family in whatever capacity they could.
"I will
not
let my daughter be sent away from me like that! You expect me to allow her to interact with...with outsiders like that?! There are
heretics
among those merchants! I can't allow her to be exposed to blasphemy like that!" Hideron sighed, ignoring the
very
strong urge to put his hand over his face. What an idiot. So the princess was a Thunder user. Honestly, some of the best rulers Oblivia had ever had
were
Thunder users specifically
because
they were exposed to outside thoughts as well as the fate of people who were either exiled or fled in fear of being exiled.
But this stupid king wouldn't understand that.
"You abide by the scriptures, yes?" The king nodded slowly then emphatically. He didn't want to be proven an unbeliever in front of high members of his court. "And what do the scriptures say about Thunder users?" His tone remained cool and collected.
The king paled, stopping mid nod. "T-That Thunder users need to be neutral to anybody regardless of creed, origin, sexuality, or gender..." His voice was choked and strangled. Hook, line, and sinker. Not that it was hard. This man had a fairly one-track mind. How he was such a tool was beyond Hideron. His father and mother had been great people. But this man only cared about his public image and perception. Though he clearly wasn't realising how badly this would affect his public image. Attempting to stop people from fulfilling their duties as outlined in the holy scriptures? Oh, he was in for a
world
of hurt even with the common people. It would be
years
until he recovered from this.
"Let them go. If not, I will have to
publicly
denounce your actions. And Urenen Ludeos will too." Ludeos tended to stay holed up on his mountain roost, but if something like this needed to be stated, he would leave long enough. He couldn't control the royal family wholly anymore, but he could
really
rein them in at times. It was good to have that much of a threat to keep stupid leaders like these ones in line. He really hated how stupid some mortals could be simply for the sake of image. It was beyond infuriating. Legacy meant nothing. Doing the best now was the absolute greatest thing they could do. But mortals often couldn't see that, so he had to try to keep them stay on track.
"Y-Yes, Idavo..." The man's shoulder sagged in defeat and he looked at his advisors. With some magic, they signaled to the ship to move. Within a few minutes, the stopped ship started to move again. The king stared forlornly after the ship until it disappeared over the horizon. He looked at Hideron, practically begging him to return the ship. But the Raikou's expression was cool as he crossed his arms. He wasn't going to recall the ship. They would simply be gone for a while. It was too important that Thunder Priests and Oracles not discriminate based on their station.
"Goodbye, Your Majesty." Hidern bowed to the king and started to walk off, then shifted out of his human form to his bestial one. His feet hit the ground running, eyes squinted slightly to resist the wind. What a pathetic excuse for a man. Trying to interfere with a process they considered sacred and holy. Disgusting really.
Hideron returned to the house he shared with his siblings up on the one of the terraces near the palace on Brashuil. He returned to his human form and walked inside, seeing Beventi polishing and sharpening her sword. "You look tense, brother. Did he upset you that much?"
"If I hadn't stepped in, he would've stopped an entire generation of Thunder users from going on their holy retreat to Brakal. I cannot
believe
the nerve of that man." He pounded his hand on the table, eyes flaring. He really couldn't. If it hadn't been for how people perceived him, he would've the stupid king's throat. Of course, he didn't see the entire journey as holy.
He
had been the one to create it in the first place. Everything the legendaries spoke, the humans saw as holy. It was frustrating but useful. He tried not to abuse his power
too
much, but he'd needed to in this particular case. There was no way around it.
"Would you like to spar to get some of it out of your system?" Beventi put her sword to the side and he nodded. He had some
serious
steam he needed to blow off. He couldn't show it to the humans, though. He was supposed to be kind, humble, gracious, and patient. But he wasn't always patient. His short fuse had been triggered by this ridiculous man, but there was literally nothing he could do about it. He had to appear a certain way. All of them did. He hated it, but it was simply life for them... What a pain...
Beventi rose and Hideron followed her outside. "Do you want me to go easy on you or all out?" The Suicune in her human form stretched a bit, arms over her head as she bended side to side. Hideron narrowed his eyes.
"All out." He might be avowed to pacifism, but there was nothing in his vows that said he couldn't train like this. Even pacifist Priests and Oracles were allowed to engage in combat should their own lives be threatened. Why shouldn't
he
be allowed to do the same? Plus, he only ever trained with his sister. There was no
reason
for him to hold back...
