Chapter 1

"All right. Break for the day." The tall woman looked at her student who sat on the ground with her legs tucked underneath her. The blue-haired woman nodded and stood, stretching a bit. It had been a long day but she knew it wouldn't be too long. These lessons were terrible and intensive, but she knew she needed to go through them. This was an honor never before conferred onto anybody. She wouldn't let anybody take this away from her even if she could never speak of it to anybody. "Okay, Beventi, I'll see you later." Leanne smiled at the tal woman who nodded. She transformed into a Suicune and ran away, disappearing into the forest. Tomorrow would be the day. She had no way around it. She'd be going through the Rainbow Trials tomorrow. She still wasn't super confident if she'd pass or not. But it would makrk the first time in nearly twelve hundred years that somebody would pass through those hallowed halls. It would be the first time since Oblivia's destruction. She wished she would have been able to travel back with Pereli, but she never would've accepted into the society. They were far too xenophobic. Outsiders couldn't even go to the main islands of Oblivia... They could only go to an island that no longer existed. Leanne stood and walked to the main village on Renbow Island where she found who she was looking for. A figure lay underneath a tree, watching as clouds danced in the sky in a slow, lazy waltz. He looked at her and tilted his head. "Oh, hey, Leanne. What's up?" The man smiled warmly and she offered a hesitant smile in return as she settled next to him. “Hello, Sunivel. I'm nervous about tomorrow. Can you offer me any insight into the Rainbow Trials?" She knew that, historically, the Trials weren't revealed to those before they took them. She was incredibly nervous and didn't want to potentially die. "I wouldn't worry too much, Leanne. The Trials aren't too crazy. But if you want, I can tell you. It goes against tradition but we aren't in the old time anymore..." Sunivel sighed and shook his head. Leanne settled down and nodded, listening as Sunivel talked. She rowned as they reached the Thunder trial. Mixing the wrong herbs to go by a ward could kill her? That...was more than a little disconcerting. She didn't want to die... She ha spent so much time in school and had accomplished so much. How could they think it was okay to potentially let priests and oracles die? Oblivian society made no sense to her. The Lugia did see her discontent. "Relax, Leanne. Fatalities were pretty rare. I know you haven't had the same sort of preparation that native Oblivians did, but you're intelligent. You'll do fine. You've been doing well under Hideron." He smiled and patted her head. She sighed. "I know I have but..." Normally Oblivians taking the Rainbow Trails had years to prepare... She'd had months over the course of several years. It was so hard. She would potentially leave behind her daughter and husband should things go awry... She hoped and prayed to Arceus that wouldn't happen. All of this was unnecessary, but she had gained the legendaries' trust. She didn't want to screw this up... So much rested on this... She would do her best though it might turn out horribly in the end... “You’ll be gifted with magic which nobody outside of Oblivia has ever learned. Well. You already have been gifted with it, but we’ll continue you education further in it.” Sunivel smiled, though it was distant. “If only Veshana were here... She would love to have you as a student...” Yeah, it would be nice to have the actual Light magic teacher here... But Luseli understood enough about it. She was the White magic originator after all... It was so hard to be around the Ho-oh though. She was so depressed all the time that it was hard... But she was the only one that Leanne could learn Light magic from. It was so hard to see all of these traumatised legendaries sit around, longing for the “good old days” despite how flawed ancient Oblivia’s systems had been... It wasn’t like they could exactly walk into a therapist’s office and say ‘oh hey, I’m a legendary that’s been alive for thousands of years, can you help me?’ She feared to see what the three bird lords would be like should they ever wake. Hopefully they never would though... The destruction that would bring on Oblivia would be catastrophic.
