However, Diane chose to ponder over how her life has been for about six years.diane was just twenty, about six years ago when her late sister,Mariam,just got married to a wealthy man,Harry marcario.the first three months of their marriage went well until they discovered that mariam was pregnant. Harry denied the pregnancy, insisting that he hadn't slept with mariam since they got married. His family supported him and made life a living hell for the poor mariam. Upon hearing the word bastard,Diane landed a heavy slap on Harry's face,but regretted it badly as Harry gave her the beating of her life, right there at the hospital. Unfortunately for her,her parents and brother were in mariam's ward,so no one could save Diane from Harryand his family. He beat her till she fell down the stairs before the nurses rushed to stop him and took her to a ward for treatment. Diane woke up the next day in her ward with a swollen face and her left arm wrapped with POP hanging from her neck to be told the shocking news that Mariam had died.the whole family wept bitterly especially Diane who cried her eyes out. No one except the hospital nurse comforted them . She cursed the day Harry got married to mariam in tears. Diane could not bear to see mariam's body being buried, so she stayed at home and continued sobbing. The marcario family rejected the baby and did not even show any sign of remourse for all they did. From that day,Diane took the baby as her own and catered for him .she never made Sammy lack a mother's love and affection.
