Universe Three: Jinu & Rumi

Jinu rose awkwardly and touched Rumi's hand gently, but she didn't pull hers away; rather, she extended it further.
"What if there’s a universe where I die?" she mused aloud, causing Jinu's heart to ache sharply.
Without Rumi, Jinu knew he wouldn't survive. He couldn't imagine a single day without her, but what if she had passed away... Jinu squeezed her hand tighter and looked directly into her eyes.
"Don't think about that," he whispered softly, gripping her hand firmly. "We're here. We're alive. Let's go; Zoe and Mira will tear their hair out worrying, especially since your release is approaching."
Saying nothing more, Jinu led her away from their beloved spot where they'd watched the stars together moments earlier.
