Chapter 1
July 28, 2025 at 3:40 AM
The summer day was hotter than usual.
Under such scorching heat, groups of people moved, surrounded by cameras and microphones. These were the two most popular K-pop bands: “Saja” and “Hunter.”
The managers of both groups sat inside the building, on the filming set, while TV channel workers rushed around. This channel was broadcasting something long awaited and finally arrived: a joint show of the two bands, whose fans could empty store shelves of new merchandise within minutes of release. They loved their idols just as fiercely. In response, the idols created more tracks, went on tours and world trips, often did livestreams, and of course held fan meetings. From all this chaos, which at some point became normal for the girls — the Huntresses — they couldn’t really rest. Saja wasn’t doing much better: Jinu, the most popular and recognized king of K-pop, paired with Rumi, the queen, was getting lost in his schedule of performances, interviews, livestreams, and ad shoots; Baby was buried in more livestreams than anyone else, plus fan meetings — since he was the most adored; the remaining three alternated between writing new songs and planning choreography during their rare free minutes.
Today wasn’t an exception — just slightly different from the rest.
Zoe, as usual, brought a pile of snacks and drinks to the show, which the others were happy about. Mystery, as it turned out, had done the same. This coincidence let them do a two-minute skit during the broadcast, where both singers tried to steal snacks from each other and feed their group members. No one minded.
For the whole show, which would last 3 hours — three hours, what kind of hell is that?! — the plan included a 51-question quiz about each other, a marathon, a “plank endurance” contest, and other fun games for the viewers. And by the end of the day: dancing. It’d be fine if it were with their own groups, or solo! But no — they had to dance in pairs.
The first quiz segment was humorous, and it turned out that Mystery wasn’t a blind mole — he even revealed his face with his bangs lifted. And wiped out half the fanbase with his beauty. Rumi shared her secret to maintaining such long hair and keeping the color as if it were natural. Zoe told stories about her school creative activities. Mira, in turn, lit up fans’ hearts with new beats and rap parts of an upcoming song.
Baby and Abs acted out a scene about finding an unknown-origin dish in their fridge — something no one makes anywhere, it tasted divine, and none of the boys knew how to cook. Or so they thought, until, getting into the role of detectives, they found clues and uncovered the mystery of Saja Boys’ dorm! The cook turned out to be Jinu, who suddenly got nervous and looked away. Everyone teased him gently, though one girl knew the real reason: he feared being laughed at for such a hobby.
Romance showed his artistic skills and honestly admitted that, at the start of their rise to fame, he personally drew posters for their performances, and now — even if just one of thousands of banners at each concert — it would still be hand-drawn by him.
The second round was brutal: the boys were running and competing.
In the end, first place went to Mira, second — to Abs, and third — surprisingly to everyone — went to Mystery.
The third round with fitness, yoga, and sports was even tougher. The most flexible were Baby and Zoe. They even managed a new challenge together: who could stay longer on one hand and upside down. The brunette won — and didn’t even sweat it.
After being begged to reveal her secret, she took pity on her “opponent” and shared her daily morning workouts. The guy nodded diligently and wrote it down in a notebook that their leader Jinu threw at him from across the room.
Before the dancing, they were given a break to choose their partners.
After many arguments and thirty rounds of rock-paper-scissors — which were also broadcast, since the break ended before they solved the issue — it came down to two people for pairing with Romance. Jinu or Mystery? Mystery won 2:1, proudly lifted his chin and shouted, “—So your reign ends here, our king!”
The remaining members of the boy group played along and said similar lines. The laughter went on for another 3 minutes before the pairs stood together and awaited the cue.
The pairs came out as follows: Mira and Abs, Rumi and Jinu, Zoe and Baby, Mystery and Romance.
Music flowed from speakers set all around the room. One, two, three, spin, five, six, lean. Again. And again. Lost in the chaos, they laughed and tripped each other up if a partner messed up.
The boys dancing together couldn’t keep up with the increasing tempo, got tangled in the steps, fell to the floor, and lost. The other pairs fell after them, until only the king and queen of the K-pop world remained — Jinu and Rumi, respectively.
The music, like a moody child, sped up wildly then slowed down fluidly. The two danced until the end, while the managers lost their minds.
The views hit record highs, breaking all national and international site and social media charts. Fans worldwide went wild and filled their storage with screenshots. Everything related to the famous groups was in shock.
Some expected a twist, others — a kiss. But neither got what they wanted.
The pair simply finished the dance and bowed to each other.
At the end came the farewell part and a few burning questions.
After announcing the release of a new song — “Silver Bird of Sunset” — Hunters left the frame.
Right after, another Saja Boys sensation was revealed: Romance had gotten married at the end of summer, and the bride’s identity had been kept secret until the wedding day. Though Jinu, in revenge for losing at rock-paper-scissors before the dance, teasingly and playfully said, “—Well, maybe not a bride. Maybe... Mystery.”
Of course, he got smacked by the others and the laughter was through the roof — but hey, it was fun.
Leaving viewers — and not only them — in shock and moral devastation, the boys and girls left the studio giggling and laughing.
Saying goodbye to each other, the bands went their separate ways.
In the evening, they finally rested. As for the problems their news stirred — they’d handle that tomorrow morning. For now: a couch, a movie playing in the background, and a peaceful sleep in shared comfort.
The boys, unlike the girls, returned to their dorm to have a surprisingly good time.
Romance and Abs were coming up with some beats for the new wedding song of the former;
Jinu went to soak in warm water in the bath;
Mystery grabbed his phone and smiled while texting someone, sitting on the living room couch;
and Baby was busy choosing snacks before the movie.
As for the girls — everything was as usual!
Mira and Rumi happily walked out of the bath in robes and were now choosing a movie, while the youngest, Zoe, was tapping her tablet screen at lightning speed.
Curious, the girls peeked at the brunette’s chat and were stunned.
The profile picture of the person she was texting with… showed the official Instagram of Mystery.
Well then — whatever keeps the
child entertained, as long as it doesn’t harm her.
