Epilogue: Without Words, But With Understanding

Months passed.
Baby sat on the roof of an old building, dangling his legs into the darkness. In his hands, he twisted an empty soda can, silently tapping his fingers against the metal. The city below buzzed, lived, breathed—a typical human world where he still felt like a stranger.
"What the hell am I even doing here?"
He threw the can away, and it clattered across the rooftop.
— Thud.
Something light hit him on the back of the head.
Baby flinched, nearly losing his balance, and turned around sharply.
— WHAT THE—
And froze.
Right in front of him, squatting down and propping her chin on her hand, sat Aisha.
Her hair was shorter than he remembered, and her eyes sparkled with the same daring spark as before. A slight smirk played on her lips.
— You... — Baby jumped. — You’re a damn shadow! You could have warned me!
Aisha merely raised an eyebrow, as if to say, "Don’t you like it?"
— How did you even—
He didn’t finish.
Because in the next moment, he *lunged* at her, wrapping his arms around her so tightly that she nearly lost her balance.
— Damn… — his voice trembled. — I thought you… that you…
Aisha didn’t resist.
She gently pressed her palm against his back, feeling him shake. Then she pulled back just enough to look him in the eyes—and *smiled*.
A genuine smile. Without anger, without pain.
Baby froze.
— Alright… — he ran a hand over his face, brushing away something suspiciously like moisture. — You’re unbearable, of course. But… I’m glad.
Aisha nodded, as if to say, "I know."
She reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone, quickly typing a message:
"You were sulking here alone like a drunken demon. I had to intervene."
Baby snorted:
— I wasn’t sulking!
Aisha pointed to the screen:
"Sulking."
— Oh, come on!
But he hugged her again, this time laughing.
Aisha leaned against his shoulder, listening to his heart pounding. It beat so loudly.
And she didn’t need words to understand—he heard her.
Even without a voice. Even in silence.
THE END.
