One evening, alone in their vast home, Isara found a hidden letter tucked in Alarion’s desk — not meant for her eyes. Her fingers trembled as she read words that spoke of deals, threats, and shadows of violence she had never imagined. Her heart caught in a sudden, sharp ache. When Alarion entered the room, she looked up at him, searching for answers. He didn’t lie. He only said softly, “Some truths are too heavy to bear, my love. I protect you by keeping the darkness at bay.” Isara nodded, tears brimming. The love she knew had shadows she could never fully see.
