Chapter 1

I’ll look at you one final time —
(Though no glance is ever final).
A hundred more, your face, your light,
But you won’t see mine — the old one.
I won’t shout of joy or brightness,
Won’t hand out smiles like gifts.
Just sit in silence, heavy, quiet,
While you drift, just… drift.
Would it break our "friendship’s" law
To hug me back, just once?
You’ll stare (that look I know),
Then turn away — no trust.
Strange, how lonely dreams can be.
I want to wake. To fade.
To be more than a ghost you see
In shadows that you made.
