Teliy

Settings
Numerous forests, where greenery spreads in a million shades, from the darkest to the softest light green. Exceptionally white flowers of all kinds: violets, lilies, orchids, chrysanthemums, roses, gladioluses, peonies, even cornflowers, though they too are white. And among these forests lie villages. Large and small, medium-sized and not so much. A little further away, there are small towns. This is how people live in the land of Elania. The people love their country; the lands are fertile, and in the villages, they grow a variety of fruits and vegetables. Hunting brings plenty of game, and crafts flourish. The people rejoice and live in prosperity. In addition to humans, Elania's forests and rivers are home to nyxies and nekkes . Nyxies prefer the forests, while nekkes dwell in the rivers. Both races are beautiful, attractive, unusual, and mysterious, but they don't get along very well with each other. They don't feud, but they aren't friends either. It is not spoken of openly, but people favor the nyxies more and are somewhat wary of the nekkes. No one knows what to expect from them. nyxies are kind-hearted forest beings; if you get lost, they will always help you find your way back or guide foragers to a clearing full of berries or mushrooms. Nekkes, however, are silent and hard to understand. Sometimes they might give something from the river as a gift—a beautiful shell or a piece of coral. But they might also lure someone into the water. There are legends that if a nekke lures you into the water, there will be no trace left of a handsome lad or a fair maiden. Yet the rivers attract many because only along their banks can you see flowers in various shades: red, soft yellow, lilac, purple, sky blue. Everyone wants to see such beauty at least once. A nekke might give someone the root of a flower, and it will grow in their garden, drawing everyone's attention because it won't be white. Everyone will know it was a gift from a nekke. Such lucky individuals are very rare—one could count them on their fingers. Another unique trait of the flower is that no matter who the person gives it to or if they try to pass on its root, it will turn white. You cannot regift a gift from a nekke. And then there is another reason why the river draws everyone—to see Teliy. This tree is unique for several reasons. Only Teliy has pink flowers, and most astonishingly—there is always only one flower on the entire tree. The enormous Teliy, with its powerful roots intertwining along the banks of the Amis River and reaching deep into the water, bends over the river, forming an arch. Its single flower, shaped like a wide, thick brush with a pointed tip, gazes down at the smooth surface of the river. At the base of the brush-shaped bud are sturdy petals with rounded edges that connect to the flower's stem. From the flower’s brush, the finest streams of pink nectar flow down. Oh, this nectar is not simple, but it attracts many couples from all the villages and small towns. Everyone dreams of stepping into the river and standing under the waterfall of Teliy’s nectar. Teliy can grant true happiness and long years of life if a couple sincerely, mutually, and genuinely loves one another. Teliy’s blessing is sacred and revered. However, if the love is insincere, Teliy can punish the couple who dares to stand under the streams of its nectar, thus desecrating it.

— So shy... What do you want, nyx? — says the nekke, abruptly turning around. The nekke has noticed those curious black eyes on him more than once now, and he’s even begun to anticipate them, but all he hears is the rustling of bushes and a glimpse of light hair. — You’ll come again tomorrow, won’t you, nyx? — shouts the nekke. The nekke knows they will come… The nyx won’t be able to resist anymore. The nekke is sure of it.

— Jungkook? Where have you been, my dear? You know your father worries when you go far off on your own! — Jungkook’s mother greets him. — Come on in, tidy yourself up; there’s a bonfire tonight, and the settlement will be celebrating. You’ll go to the festivities. — I didn’t go far, really, — replies Jungkook. — I’m not changing into other clothes; I look fine as I am. Look how nice I made this outfit… — Well, it’s up to you. But it’s time to choose a bride for yourself—or a groom—and yet you still haven’t decided. Otherwise, your father might start looking for someone himself and decide for you. — Don’t choose for me. I’ll decide myself, — Jungkook says nervously. — Tell him that, Mom. — I’ll tell him, I’ll tell him… but what good will it do? That’s why you shouldn’t put it off. You’re already of marriageable age—twenty years old, after all. — I understand. I’m choosing. I’ll decide soon. But I’ll do it myself—don’t choose or decide for me.

Jungkook might have made his choice already, but ever since he saw the nekke, he hasn’t been able to look at anyone else. The nekke is captivatingly beautiful. Jungkook has seen him, studied him. The nekke’s hair is straight and black as coal, his shoulders strong, and the muscles in his arms… breathtaking. Jungkook couldn’t take his eyes off him. And when the nekke surfaced from the water, Jungkook caught a glimpse of his back—broad and reliable. The nekke is extraordinarily kind. Jungkook saw him giving shells and river corals to the village children. The nekke is incredibly strong. Jungkook watched him pull an entire tree out of the river after it had fallen during a hurricane. The nekke is remarkably enduring. Jungkook saw him swim across the Amis River several times at its widest point—a span of several kilometers. The river that flows through their land is powerful, with many smaller, calmer tributaries. Ever since Jungkook saw the nekke, he hasn’t been able to think about anyone else. Every day, he comes to the riverbank. But today, the nekke noticed him. What should he do now? Jungkook sighs. He’ll still go. He wants to watch him, admire him… and dream.

“…nyx.” Taehyung sees those black eyes watching him again. The curious nyx. Those black eyes are so alluring. Taehyung retrieves a pale blue lotus he had swum to one of the Amis River’s tributaries to find earlier that day. He swims toward the shore, places the flower on the grass, and, with a slap of his shimmering green pearlescent tail against the water, dives into the river’s depths. As he swims away, he turns back, surfaces quietly, and remains hidden while watching. Will the nyx take the flower or not? He observes closely. The nyx steps out of the forest, his white hair slightly tousled by his quick pace. Today, the forest has dressed him in maple leaves, lily-of-the-valley blossoms, and white forget-me-nots. His sparkling eyes scan the area as he rushes to the riverbank. Quickly glancing around, he crouches down, picks up the lotus, and lifts it to his face to inhale its fragrance… It’s for him. The nekke brought this flower for him. Lotuses like this don’t grow on this side of the river. That means the nekke swam somewhere to find it—for him. For the nyx. It’s exhilarating. So much so that it stirs something deep within him. Now, every time Jungkook comes to the river, there’s a flower lying across from the bushes where he always hides. A different one each time. The nekke is trying to surprise him, maybe even make him happy. Him, the nyx. Yes. It touches him. Deeply. Jungkook already has an entire bouquet of different colorful flowers. Not white ones. Jungkook hides them in his room. His room is located on the second level of a tree, with willow branches serving as walls. His soft bed is made from leaves and several types of soft moss. There’s even a proper blanket—given to him by a girl he once guided back to the village after she got lost. The pillow is also a gift from a villager, as Jungkook had shown him a rich spot for gathering mushrooms. These things are very comfortable. There’s a small table woven from sturdy branches. The thicker branches of the tree form the walls of his home, dividing the space, while thinner branches with abundant leaves decorate those walls. It’s behind this layer that Jungkook hides the flowers from the nekke. And today… — nyx! I see you! Come out, come here. Don’t be afraid!, — the nekke calls enticingly, swimming a little closer to the shore. Jungkook carefully parts the branches of the bush and slowly takes a couple of steps forward. His cheeks are slightly flushed red. Embarrassed. Nervous. He tucks a strand of his white hair behind his ear and anxiously wipes his palms against his outfit made of periwinkle vines that wrap around his entire body. He steps cautiously and approaches the riverbank, slowly crouching down, looking at the nekke with his beautiful eyes framed by long lashes: — You won’t hurt me, nekke? — Why would I hurt you? — comes the nekke’s velvety, soothing voice. — Maybe I just want to make you happy, nix. Will you tell me your name? — No. It’s too soon for names. — Are you afraid I’ll bind you to me? — Bind me? — I’d never do that. Only with your consent, nyx. — A decent nekke? — A curious and beautiful nyx,— the nekke smiles. — Will you come tomorrow? — Yes,— Jungkook says softly, almost in a whisper, but the nekke hears him. — I’ll be waiting, nyx. — Really? — Why would I lie? You’re enchanting, and I want to see you again. Jungkook bats his long eyelashes, a smile appearing on his lips, and warmth glowing in his eyes. He plucks a white flower from his periwinkle attire and, slightly embarrassed, extends it to Nekki. He’s a bit afraid—what if Nekki rejects the gift? Nekki reaches out a hand and gently takes Jungkook's hand, using the other to accept the flower. This touch. It stirs something inside. Jungkook gazes at Nekki with widened black pupils, while Nekki cannot tear his eyes away from those captivating ones. Taehyung softly strokes Jungkook's hand, wanting to savor this burning gaze of the nix... How tantalizingly sensual... The nix is so beautiful, and Nekke’s heart beats faster.

— Jungkook, your father has found you a suitor. Handsome, from a good family—they’re close friends with our elder. You’ll live well. — We’re living well already. And I’ve asked, Mom—I’ll find my own partner. I did ask. — I told your father, but he said Gin Shiu himself approached him to ask if you were available. Your father didn’t promise anything but mentioned that you don’t have a partner yet. I think you can expect him to visit soon. — I’m not waiting for anyone. I don’t like him. He always looks at me that way, but I feel nothing. Nothing at all. — Maybe feelings will come with time, son. Think about it—his family is good, honorable. — That’s enough, Mom. I’m going to the forest. I’ll practice weaving an outfit from small flowers. I still can’t do it that well. — Who are you dressing up for?" His mother immediately sensed her son was dodging the question. — For no one. For myself. That’s it, I’m off,— Jungkook says as he rushes out of their forest home nestled in the branches of a sprawling willow tree. Of course, he’s running to the river. nekke is waiting there for him. Waiting, right?

***

For a moment, his heart stops. Jungkook looks at Nekke with wide eyes and, in a trembling voice, asks: — That’s periwinkle. I gave it to you yesterday. You kept it? You kept my gift? — Yes, my sweet nyx. It’s yours. Your gift. Jungkook’s gaze falls to Nekke’s neck, where the delicate white periwinkle flower hangs like a pendant on finely woven blades of grass, and he can hardly believe it. Nekke kept it. If Jungkook had known that Nekke would keep it and not toss it away, he would have given something else, something bigger than a simple periwinkle. But Nekke didn’t just keep it—he wore it around his neck. It’s so moving. Jungkook stares, his heart fluttering like flower petals in a gentle breeze—softly, tenderly, lovingly. Nekke is so… so… there are no words to express it. Jungkook feels so much inside, but he doesn’t yet know how or what to say or do. — Will you accept my gift, nyx?— Nekke asks without breaking his gaze and extends a pale purple lotus. Accepting a flower that isn’t white means declaring to everyone that the gift has been accepted from Nekke. Only Nekke can pick and offer a non-white flower as a gift. Does Jungkook hesitate? No, not for a second—his heart has already answered. It flutters and says a clear "yes." Never before has Jungkook’s heart burned like this, his thoughts faltered, or his blood boiled. A bracelet. That’s what it will be, Jungkook decides as he extends his hand palm-down. Nekke places the lotus on his wrist and delicately shrinks it, making it more elegant. Using the thinnest strands of seaweed, he weaves an intricate bracelet that encircles Jungkook’s wrist and entwines the lotus. Jungkook watches in awe, unable to take his eyes off how beautifully Nekke crafted it. He raises his hand, turns it this way and that, admiring it. Nekke takes Jungkook’s hand, brings it to his lips, and kisses it gently. Jungkook’s cheeks flush red; it’s the first time someone has touched him like this. — Will you say my name, nyx? — Will you bind me? — I will bind you. You accepted my gift,— Nekke says in a velvety voice that captivates the nix so deeply. — Don’t want to? Nekke watches him intently, closely. — I want to, — the nix replies quietly but looks him in the eyes. — I’ll bind you too. — Of course, my sweet nix. I’m counting on it,— Nekke says with a smile. — Come here. Step deeper into the river,— Nekke whispers. Jungkook takes one step, then another, a third—water is already up to his chest, but he still hasn’t reached Nekki. — One more step, nyx,— Nekke whispers, —just one more. Jungkook walks, mesmerized, gazing into the depths of nekke’s blue eyes. Nekke swims closer, takes the nix’s right hand, pulls him in, places his left hand on Jungkook’s waist, draws him closer, tighter, pressing him against himself. — Taehyung... I entrust you with my name,— nekke whispers first. — Jungkook... I entrust you with my name,— Jungkook whispers just as softly, his heart pounding wildly, his hands trembling slightly, his breath unsteady. — Jungkook, I take your name,— Taehyung whispers, placing a finger from his right hand under Jungkook’s left eye. He begins to trace gently and weightlessly, outlining the eye, moving up to the left temple, then drawing a soft wavy line down to the jawline and lower still, finishing at Jungkook's collarbones. Tiny blue droplets appear along the path of this line. — Taehyung, I take your name,— Jungkook says quietly, placing a finger on the left side of Taehyung’s forehead. He traces down to the temple, then draws a straight line down to the neck, reaching the collarbones, running along Taehyung’s left collarbone and neck, and going slightly lower. Similar tiny blue droplets appear on Taehyung. — You are bound, Jungkook. Bound to me,— Taehyung says as his gaze of deep blue slowly drops to Jungkook’s lips. He notices a small mole at the edge of Jungkook’s mouth. "How adorable," Taehyung whispers before capturing Jungkook’s lips with his own. His tongue brushes against Jungkook’s lips, tasting their sweetness before slipping inside when granted permission. Jungkook responds to the kiss. Sensual, slow, delicious, tender—Taehyung wants more, fiercer, hungrier—but he holds back for now, afraid of scaring off the nyx with his intensity. One day. Soon. — I’ll wait for you tomorrow. Let’s go to my settlement and meet everyone,— Taehyung says. — You’re going to bring a nix to the Nekki settlement? What will everyone say?— Jungkook asks with a hint of fear in his eyes. — Nothing. We exchanged gifts; we said our names; we’ve bound ourselves together. That means we like each other and hope for something more. What could they possibly say if everything is mutual and our feelings are sincere? If we’ve made our choice,— Taehyung says with a slight squint of his eyes. — Or not? Is this meaningless to you? — No, no, — Jungkook quickly responds, covering Taehyung’s mouth with his hand. — Don’t you dare say that. I’m sincere with you. And this isn’t meaningless. I feel it. I feel so much for you, — Jungkook finishes in a whisper, his fingers tracing along Taehyung’s lips. Everything is new for Jungkook; no one has ever held him so close, kissed his hand, looked at him with such desire, embraced him so intimately, or kissed him like this. All of it is so new to Jungkook, but he melts. And he wants more. Jungkook is greedy. Greedy for Taehyung. Taehyung awakens all of Jungkook’s sensitivity and ignites a fire inside him that he didn’t know existed.

— A-ah! — exclaims Jungkook’s mother. — What have you done, you fool? You accepted a gift from a nekke! A purple flower! Where and how did you even manage to meet her! Ah, that cursed nekke, she bewitched you! — Mom, stop it. No one bewitched me. This is real. True and sincere feelings. I like Taehyung. And it’s him. Not her. — And he even bound you to him! What have you done? Jungkook! What were you thinking? You and a nekke. What will people say? — his mother begins to cry. — And what will your father say when he finds out? I can’t even bear to think about it! — Mom, it’s mutual. I bound him too. Do you hear me? I bound him too. And the nekke agreed. We have feelings for each other, Mom. You wanted me to choose a partner. And I chose one. — But not a nekke! We’ll have to go to the elder. What will he say? How will everyone look at us in the settlement now? — his mother laments.

***

Today, Jungkook has put in extra effort; his body is adorned with delicate meadow grass, subtle touches of white forget-me-nots, and vertical borders of white cornflowers. A bracelet with a purple lotus decorates his wrist. The smaller the flowers and the finer the grass, the harder it is to weave the pattern for his clothing, but Jungkook practices and trains every day. He wants to please the nekke. To please him very much. He wants it so badly. Taehyung is waiting for his nyx. Today is an important day. He wants to introduce Jungkook to his parents and show him to the people of the settlement. Taehyung is confident that everyone will like the nix. — Everyone was so kind to me and polite, so sweet. It’s amazing! — Jungkook exclaims. — Why would anyone treat you badly? Are you judging based on your own settlement? — Taehyung asks, pulling the nix closer by the waist. He doesn’t remove his hand but rests it on Jungkook’s lower back, holding him there. Taehyung sees how the nyx’s expression darkens, and Jungkook looks at him apologetically with his bead-like black eyes. — In my settlement, things wouldn’t have been so kind or pleasant. I don’t know why, but they don’t like nekkes there. They think of you as cold and arrogant, as beings who could cause harm. From childhood, we’re taught not to interact with nekkes and to avoid them. — So you didn’t listen to anyone and decided to break your settlement’s rules? — Taehyung asks with a smile. — You didn’t seem that way to me, — Jungkook replies modestly and shyly. — The nix was watching me, huh? Confess, — Taehyung teases, pulling Jungkook even closer, pressing him tightly against his body. — I wasn’t watching, — Jungkook lowers his gaze but quickly lifts it again, looking into Taehyung’s eyes. — I was observing. You’re a kind and strong nekke. And I didn’t see any of the traits they told us about. I got curious. I would come to the shore, hide, and watch you. And every time, you surprised me. You weren’t indifferent to those who needed help. — My sweet nyx, — Taehyung gently traces his finger over the blue droplets on Jungkook’s face, noticing the entranced look in his eyes. He runs his hand through Jungkook’s silky white hair. — I’m going to kiss you now, nyx… — Taehyung wraps his hand around Jungkook’s neck on the right side and pulls him closer, kissing him softly. He slides his tongue into Jungkook’s mouth, and when met with no resistance, continues to kiss him deeply. — Delicious… you’re so delicious…

— You’re here? Get ready to go see the elder. Father saw you when you left this morning and noticed your binding pattern on your face. I wanted to keep it a secret for a bit longer, but of course, how could I? It’s too obvious. Everyone is already whispering about you. — This is ridiculous! Why should I go anywhere or explain my relationships to anyone? These are *my* relationships. It’s *my* decision who I want to be with. I don’t need anyone’s permission! We’re free to make our own choices; that’s what everyone here always says, isn’t it? — Jungkook snaps angrily Jungkook and his mother walk under the sprawling acacia tree. On the upper levels of the tree - the advisor's home, while below is a hall for communicating with all the settlement's residents. Many are already sitting in anticipation, eager to listen and be the first to learn everything. People exchange glances, look at Jungkook, and discuss his blue marks. Among the Nyx, the bond is green. Among the nekke - blue. There are other nuances, but these are the main colors. The nekke was the first to bond with Jungkook, so both of them have blue marks. The patterns, however, are different—everyone is free to draw their own pattern on any visible area not covered by clothing, and most often they choose the face. — Tell us about your plans, Jungkook, — asks the elder, — you have a bond with a nekke. What do you foresee in the future? Marriage? Will you leave your native settlement for this bond with a nekke? — Am I not free to do so?— Jungkook answers with a question of his own, gathering his inner strength and looking directly into the elder’s eyes. Jungkook does not bow his head or lower his gaze. — You are free. Our settlement is free, as are all Nyx settlements. But is this how you were raised here? Is this what was expected of you? Is it the path of a proper Nyx to abandon their settlement?— the elder asks with a smile, though his eyes remain cold — I am not abandoning my settlement. When two people mutually bond with each other or unite their hearts in marriage, do they abandon their settlements? — Jungkook asks in surprise. He notices how many young Nyx in the hall nod encouragingly, supporting his words. Some of these young Nyx secretly communicate with the nekke and don’t understand why the elders in the settlement harbor such negativity toward them. No one explains the real reason, and claims that the nekke intend harm are untrue—those who interact with the nekke are convinced of this. — But if you unite your hearts despite everything, you will move to your husband’s settlement among the nekke, thereby leaving ours, — says the elder, spreading his arms and looking around the hall. He smiles and nods when he sees approval in the eyes of many, primarily from the older generation. — Have you not even considered that my husband and I could live here? In this settlement? — Bring a nekke here…- — What are you thinking?!- — A nekke in our settlement! Outrageous!- voices shout from the middle of the hall. — To marry a nekke?!- — How could you even think such a thing… A nekke! Here!- can be heard amidst the growing uproar. — And who will approve of this? — the elder asks indignantly. — I thought we had a free settlement, — Jungkook replies. The young Nyx clap their hands and raise their arms with fingers pointing upward. The elder looks at the youth supporting Jungkook, and everyone sees the surprise on his face. The elder did not expect to see so many people standing with Jungkook — We have a free settlement for Nyx, — the elder says, emphasizing the last word, — and it will remain that way! Let us end our council here. I suggest everyone reflect on today’s situation. And you, Jungkook, especially.

***

— Why is my Nyx sad? — Taehyung asks. — I don’t want to talk about it. Right now, I’m with you, and I don’t want to think about my settlement, — Jungkook says. — Did something happen? Did someone hurt you? — Taehyung lifts Jungkook’s chin slightly with a finger under it, looking intently into his eyes. His gaze becomes sharp, as if Taehyung is trying to read Jungkook’s thoughts. — No, maybe not. Well, maybe yes. It’s just that they said one thing at first. But it turns out it’s not like that, — Jungkook turns his head away. — Nyx… — Taehyung pauses, searching for words, — you’ll tell me if something happens, right? You’re mine, Nyx. I won’t let anyone hurt you. Do you understand, Jungkook? No one. Promise me you’ll tell me. Will you promise? — I’m a guy too. I can stand up for myself. — I know. But now you have me. And if they hurt you, they hurt us. And during those times, you shouldn’t be alone. Alright? Promise me you’ll tell me, Jungkook. — Alright, — Jungkook reconsiders something internally. — Let’s swim. I’ll show you something, — Taehyung suggests, — I want to take the sadness out of your eyes, my Nyx, — he gently traces his finger over the blue marks on Jungkook’s face, — will you make a tail? It’s easier to swim with one. — I don’t know how. I’ve heard from Nyx in neighboring settlements that we can make tails like the nekke do too. But I don’t know how. All I know is how to interact with the forest and create things from plants. — Why aren’t you taught this? Jungkook, we are children of nature. There is no division that Nyx are children of the forest and Nekke are children of the rivers. I don’t know who came up with that, when, or why. It just so happens that Nekke love rivers a little more than the forest, and Nyx are the opposite. But nature has given us equal abilities. Both you and we have legs. Both we and you can grow scales on our legs, creating a tail for ourselves. It’s simple. We are equal in our abilities, differing only in appearance. Nekke are slightly larger and all have black hair. Nyx, on the other hand, are a bit more petite and have light-colored hair. But our capabilities are the same, — Taehyung explains. — Let’s try it. I’ll explain how, — Taehyung offers. Jungkook nods, and after about an hour of struggling, burning with embarrassment, a touch of frustration, and then laughter, he feels a light vibration across the skin on the lower part of his body and sees scales appear, binding his two legs into one whole, forming a large, pearly white tail. The look he gives Taehyung sparkles with joy and triumph. Taehyung looks at Jungkook and can’t tear his eyes away. He wants to freeze this moment forever, to always see Jungkook like this—radiant, happy, and smiling with those soft pink lips that tempt Taehyung so much. He wants to taste them again and doesn’t deny himself. He pulls Jungkook closer and claims his mouth with his demanding lips. Taehyung feels the taste of the kiss flow like life-giving nectar through his veins, igniting his blood. He feels Jungkook press against him, arching his back unconsciously asking for more. Such responsiveness excites him, and Taehyung holds Jungkook tightly against him, kissing him deeper, more demanding. He lightly bites Jungkook’s lip, runs his tongue over it, and rests his forehead against Jungkook’s, breathing heavily. Holding Jungkook’s neck with one hand and gently stroking it, he says quietly but with commanding authority: — I will take you, my Nyx. Soon, you will be completely mine. Taehyung pulls away from Jungkook slightly, swimming back a little to look at his swollen lips—Jungkook is entirely his right now, and it will always be that way.

***

— Jungkook, please reconsider! You can’t be with a Nekke. Don’t disgrace our family. We didn’t raise you for this—to treat us this way. You must respect us, respect your family and our Nyx rules. Nekke are not our friends and never can be! — his mother tries to reason with him. — Mom, who said that? Who made up these rules? What exactly have the Nekke done? What? Why aren’t they our friends? Can you explain that to me? — Jungkook shouts back. — Nekke… they… they. They are Nekke, and that says it all. — What does that even mean? Can you name at least one reason why the Nekke aren’t our friends? Just one reason why you all hate them so much? What have they done to deserve all this? Jungkook’s mother sinks into a chair in despair, folding her hands on her lap and looking at her son with pleading eyes. — No, I can’t name a single reason, but this has been passed down from generation to generation, — her expression shifts to one of thoughtfulness, — we don’t get along. You can’t be with a Nekke. — The Nekke didn’t say a single bad thing about us, the Nyx, when I was in Taehyung’s settlement. Every single one of them welcomed me kindly, spoke to me warmly, offered me delicious food, and were genuinely good-hearted. And me? I’m terrified to even imagine what would have happened if I had brought Taehyung to our settlement. I would’ve died of shame because he wouldn’t have been treated the same way here. But the worst part of all of this is that my own family doesn’t support me, — Jungkook exclaims with a heavy heart before storming out of the house. Tears blur his vision as he runs as fast as he can toward the river. Jungkook wants nothing more than to feel the safety and warmth of those reliable arms around him again. Jungkook reaches the riverbank, looks around, searching, but all he sees is the serene surface of the water. Taehyung isn’t there. He approaches “their” spot, and a soft smile appears on his lips. Flowers. On the grass lie branches of delicate, fluffy lilacs waiting for Jungkook. He sits down, gathers the flowers in his arms, buries his face in them, and cries. He feels pain for his people, but even more so for himself because it seems like he really will have to leave his home. Jungkook won’t give up Taehyung. He can’t imagine a future with anyone else. Only his Nekke. Jungkook returns home, carefully weaving the flowers into the walls of his room. Their gentle fragrance fills the space, and Jungkook tenderly runs his fingers over the soft lilacs. He won’t hide the gifts from his mate anymore.

— The few days you were given to think it over have passed. We need to go to the Elder today, you remember that, don’t you? — his mother enters the room and lifts her sad gaze to Jungkook — you won’t change your mind, will you? In Jungkook's tone, there is no longer a question. He looks intently at his mother: — Yes, Mom, I won't change my mind, but you already understand that yourself. Please, don't do this to me. Don't reject me. I am still your son. And I love you. You are my parents. It will truly hurt me if I have to leave the settlement because you refuse to accept us as a couple. — Jungkook, we all hope that you’ve thought this through and made the right decision. A bond with a Nekke is unacceptable, and such couples cannot exist in our settlement. It is unworthy of the Nyx, — the elder generation in the hall nods approvingly, agreeing with the elder’s words, as he continues: — There are many worthy Nyx in our settlement who could become your partner. — I’ll ask all of you the same question I just asked my parents. Let someone here answer me: what exactly have the Nekke done to us? Name at least one thing they’ve done to our settlement or to the Nyx as a whole to deserve this much hatred from us, — Jungkook asks, his posture and gaze calm, but if you look closely, you can see the slight trembling of his hands and the tension in his body. The hall under the sprawling acacia tree falls silent. The younger generation glances at the elders and the elder with curiosity and interest in their eyes. Many begin to realize that there is no answer. Perhaps, long ago, in some unknown generation, something happened, but time has erased it all. Everyone remains silent. — When you give me an answer to this question, then you can ask me to give up the Nekke. And even then, only suggest it, because according to the laws of our settlement, I have the freedom to choose, — Jungkook’s confidence grows audibly stronger, his calm voice becoming firmer with every word he speaks. — Let me tell you something now. Imagine kind people who greet you warmly, show interest in you, invite you to try delicious food, and gift you beautiful flowers. You spend your time engaged in fascinating conversations, helping someone and receiving gratitude in return, playing with children on the streets, relaxing. Right now, you might think I’m describing our settlement. But no. I just described how I spent my time in the settlement when my Taehyung invited me to meet his family—where absolutely every Nekke welcomed me so graciously and accepted me. — Jungkook sees the approving light ignite in the eyes of the younger Nyx and notices the thoughtful expressions of the elder generation. And at this moment, Jungkook feels proud of himself—for not being afraid and for speaking what he thought and felt.   — And it will always be this way, — Jungkook abruptly shifts his gaze to the entrance of the hall. Standing there, he sees Taehyung, confidently stepping forward, gently pushing aside the branches of the acacia tree. — My beloved Nyx, I am so proud of you, — Taehyung smiles warmly. — My brave, strong Nyx, accept my gift. A collective gasp echoes through the hall as everyone sees an exquisite necklace of unparalleled beauty. It is delicately woven from fine strands of algae, the color of lush green grass, interlaced with miniature water lilies. At the center of each flower glimmers a radiant river pearl. Jungkook, holding his breath, approaches Taehyung. With a tender motion, he traces the line of blue droplets that adorn Taehyung’s face and neck. Slowly, Jungkook lifts his white hair at the back, allowing Taehyung to wrap the necklace around his neck. Jungkook gazes at Taehyung with pure love, unable to look away. His Nekke had come to him, into this unfriendly settlement, because he saw that the Nyx had not taken the flowers left on the riverbank—the same flowers that now lay there with wilted petals. Jungkook’s heart skips a beat when he hears Taehyung’s velvet voice: — I want to ask you to stand under Teliy with me, my Nyx. Will you accept my invitation? Jungkook hears the beating of their hearts in the silence that falls over the hall. All the Nyx are frozen in place; some have crossed their arms over their chests, gazing at this beautiful pair with indigo-colored droplets shimmering on their faces. — Yes, — Jungkook says with a smile. There isn’t a shred of doubt in his voice, not even for a second. He does not fear Teliy’s wrath. With all his heart, Jungkook truly loves Taehyung. The words of Jungkook, this young Nyx, made many reconsider their stance and look at the Nekke in a new light. And seeing such pure love in the eyes of the Nekke and hearing his proposal to stand under Teliy erased any remaining doubts about the sincerity of his intentions. No one in their right mind would dare make light of Teliy. Jungkook walks alongside Taehyung, observing the gazes that follow them. They are varied: the youth look on with awe and admiration, while the elders watch with curiosity, wondering what will come of this union. Will Teliy bless them or punish them? Jungkook finds his mother’s face in the crowd; tears stream down her cheeks as she wipes them away and nods at him. Warmth spreads through Jungkook’s chest—his mother supports him and accepts his love for Taehyung.

The Nyx and Nekke arrive at the riverbank and begin walking downstream. Nature seems to favor them: the sun shines brightly as if rejoicing for the couple, and a gentle breeze blows softly, as though nudging the lovers forward on their path to the sacred tree. Teliy. Beautiful, extraordinary, alluring to many. Bright, striking, and unique. Majestic, stately, and powerful. The dream of many, but not everyone dares to stand beneath its flower. They fear its wrath. Taehyung is the first to descend along the winding roots of Teliy, which wrap around the riverbank and stretch into the water. He turns around and extends his strong hand to Jungkook: — Are you sure, Jungkook? — His blue eyes look intently, afraid to miss even a fleeting shadow of doubt in Jungkook’s thoughts. But Jungkook has no doubts. Jungkook loves. With his whole big heart, open wide toward Taehyung, he feels it beats so strongly only because of Taehyung. Only him. Jungkook reaches out his hand in response and places it into the secure palm of his Nekke. Jungkook loves. The Nekke and Nyx step into the water, beneath the tree trunk that curves in a perfect arch to cradle Teliy’s miracle—a single vibrant pink flower. Its bud, shaped like a broad brush, faces the smooth surface of the river, exuding its nectar. Jungkook inhales the tender, sweet fragrance of the flower and curiously watches as the rich pink nectar drips from the massive brush-like bud into the water, forming a bright, large pink circle in the Amis River. It is within this circle that a pair truly in love must step to receive Teliy’s gift. Will it become a blessing or a curse? Jungkook’s hand remains in Taehyung’s, and he looks boldly at the circle. Turning his head, he meets Taehyung’s gaze—eyes glowing with love, tenderness, and warmth. Jungkook smiles and quietly says: — Teliy is waiting for us. — Without a doubt, — Taehyung steps into the pink circle, and Jungkook follows right after him. Jungkook looks with amazement into Taehyung’s equally astonished eyes. The water cannot be felt. Instead, pink nectar envelops them like a light, airy cloud; the skin feels no contact with the water even though Jungkook stands waist-deep in it. The surprise in his eyes gives way to admiration as Jungkook gazes spellbound into the deep blue of his beloved’s eyes, drawn irresistibly closer to Taehyung like a magnet. His Nekke is beautiful, incomparable. Jungkook lifts his hand and gently traces the blue droplets on Taehyung’s face. His heart begins to beat faster as he notices Taehyung’s skin covered in goosebumps from his touch. And then he finds himself wrapped securely in Taehyung’s strong arms. — I’m going to take you now, Jungkook,— the velvety voice sends a myriad of butterflies fluttering inside Jungkook, soaring toward his stomach. Jungkook tilts his head back slightly, his heart fluttering, sending his blood rushing as he feels Taehyung’s hot, wet tongue on his skin. Jungkook tangles his hands in Taehyung’s black hair, urging him to rise to his lips, while he arches his lower back, pressing closer to Taehyung’s arousal. A lava-like surge of emotions bubbles and drives him mad; Jungkook breathes raggedly, and through the haze of sensations, he sees Taehyung’s drunken gaze fixed on him, holding him in his hands, guiding them along Jungkook’s body, moving toward his buttocks, so firm and taut. A ringing fills his ears, and Jungkook hears his own soft moan as he feels a finger slowly penetrating his most intimate place. — My good nyx, mine. I’m going to take you hard, Jungkook, impossibly hard, — Taehyung’s whisper excites him even more, the butterflies in his stomach crashing into his groin at full speed, his legs giving way, but they’re held up by the cloud of Taehyung’s nectar, which creates all the conditions for the union of two loving bodies. Jungkook’s anus begins to secrete the natural lubricant inherent to the nyx and nekke races, and now Taehyung’s two fingers slide in with ease. Jungkook sees how tense Taehyung’s neck is, how he’s holding himself back, not allowing Jungkook to feel the pain of the first time. He holds Jungkook by the waist, pressing him close, while his other hand works and prepares the entrance for the penetration. Jungkook melts from the sweet sensations that envelop his body in anticipation of intimacy. Jungkook feels the size he is about to take, and a new wave of excitement rushes through his body. He is lifted by hands, Jungkook leans back, falling into a cloud of nectar that supports his back, and the first very loud moan escapes him as the walls part, slowly allowing Taehyung inside. — Taehyung, — Jungkook is moaning, — Taehyung. — Yes, my nyx, don’t hold back, scream my name, — Taehyung says in a hoarse, breaking voice and begins to move. The movements of his hips are strong, he gradually picks up the pace, sweat drips down his face, his pupils dilated. Jungkook hears the sound of slaps, his own moans, Taehyung’s raspy whispers. The movements grow even faster, the overwhelming sensations intensify, and it all explodes inside him like a wild cocktail, turning into a scream: — More, more, Taehyung, more. — I’m about to… I’m about to, — Jungkook barely manages to say. — Come to me, my good boy, come to me, — Taehyung says. Jungkook rises, turns to face Taehyung, and is passionately kissed, Taehyung’s tongue invading his mouth. Taehyung’s tongue is sweet, Jungkook sucks on it, savoring how strongly and dominantly Taehyung moves it in his mouth, surrendering completely to these sensations, but his body craves more. Jungkook leans back onto the Taliy’snectar and wraps his legs around Taehyung’s waist. A breath, and Jungkook feels Taehyung enter him. Taehyung lies on top of Jungkook, holding his hips with his hands and begins to move. The thrusts are powerful, Taehyung’s neck is tense, the muscles in his arms flex, sweat glistens. Jungkook lifts himself slightly and sinks his lips into Taehyung’s. He grabs Taehyung’s black hair, clenches it in his hand at the back of his head, and pulls him closer, moaning, his legs trying to press Taehyung’s sweat-drenched body tighter against him. Jungkook closes his eyes and surrenders to the sensations that grow brighter with each of Taehyung’s movements. Taehyung takes him without mercy, with strong, rapid thrusts, a cluster of sparks building inside him more and more, stronger and stronger. And then loud moans burst from Jungkook’s lips as he shudders in ecstasy. Jungkook pulls Taehyung closer, embraces him, and hears their hearts beating in unison.

Shouts of joy, amazement, and support echoed throughout the settlement. Everyone could see Jungkook and Taehyung. Their skin shimmered with soft pink sparkles. Tiny droplets of pink nectar appeared in their hair. Teliyhad blessed this couple. Since then, the nyxies gradually began to reconsider their attitude toward the nekke. The love between Taehyung and Jungkook became a legend, retold for generations, about how one nyx did not fear the indignation of his people and stood up for his right to love, and Telya blessed their union.
