Chapter 1

The first rays of dawn filtered through the curtains, painting the room in soft hues of gold and pink. The world outside was still quiet, the town not yet awake to the hustle and bustle of the day. In the cozy bedroom of their small home, Jade Skrade stirred, his violet eyes fluttering open. He blinked sleepily, the warmth of the bed and the weight of the blankets tempting him to stay a little longer.
But then he felt her.
Alina Clover lay beside him, her dark hair splayed across the pillow like a cascade of night silk. Her breathing was slow and steady, her lips slightly parted as she slept. Jade’s heart swelled as he watched her, his gaze tracing every detail of her face, the way her eyelashes fanned against her cheeks, the gentle rise and fall of her chest.
He couldn’t help but smile, a soft, tender expression that spoke of pure adoration. Memories flooded his mind, unbidden but welcome. He remembered the countless times he had asked her to marry him, each proposal met with her trademark stubbornness and reluctance. “I’m too busy with work,” she’d say, or “You’re just saying that because you’re bored.” But Jade had never given up. He had known, deep down, that she was the one for him. And when she finally said yes, her cheeks flushed and her voice trembling, it had been the happiest moment of his life.
Now, lying here beside her as her husband, he felt a profound sense of gratitude and relief.
She was his, and he was hers.
Careful not to wake her, Jade shifted closer, his arm sliding gently around her waist. He pulled her into his embrace, her back pressing against his chest. Alina murmured something unintelligible in her sleep, her hand instinctively reaching for his. Jade chuckled softly, his breath stirring the strands of her hair.
“Alina,” he whispered, his voice barely audible. “Wake up, love.”
She didn’t stir, lost in the depths of her dreams. Jade smiled, his lips brushing against her ear. “Come on, sleepyhead. It’s morning.”
Still, she remained asleep, her breathing steady. Jade’s smile turned mischievous. He leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek. When that didn’t work, he kissed her again, this time on the corner of her mouth.
Alina’s nose scrunched, and she let out a small, disgruntled sound. “Jade…” she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep. “Five more minutes…”
He laughed, the sound warm and rich. “You always say that, and then we’re late.”
Her eyes fluttered open, revealing those emerald depths he loved so much. She blinked up at him, her expression a mix of annoyance and affection. “You’re impossible,” she grumbled, though there was no real bite to her words.
Jade grinned, his hand cupping her cheek. “Good morning, Mrs. Skrade.”
Alina’s cheeks flushed at the name, even after all this time. “Good morning,” she replied, her voice softening. She reached up, her fingers brushing against his jaw. “You’re awfully cheerful for someone who hates mornings.”
“How could I not be cheerful?” he said, his thumb stroking her cheek. “I get to wake up next to the most beautiful woman in the world.”
Alina rolled her eyes, though a small smile tugged at her lips. “You’re such a charmer.”
“Only for you,” he said, leaning in to kiss her properly.
The kiss was slow and sweet, a gentle reminder of the love they shared. Alina melted into it, her hand sliding to the back of his neck to pull him closer. When they finally parted, she rested her forehead against his, her eyes closed.
“Mmmm, I love you,” she whispered, the words soft but sincere.
Jade’s heart soared. “I love you too,” he replied, his voice equally tender. “More than anything.”
For a moment, they simply lay there, wrapped in each other’s arms, the world outside forgotten. But eventually, the reality of the day crept in, and Alina sighed. “We really should get up,” she said, though she made no move to leave his embrace.
Jade chuckled, pressing one last kiss to her forehead. “Alright, alright. But only because I know how much you love your job.”
As they reluctantly got out of bed and began their morning routine, Jade couldn’t help but steal glances at Alina. She was his wife, his partner, his everything. And as they stepped out into the new day, hand in hand, he knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
For Jade and Alina, every morning was a new beginning, a chance to cherish the love they had fought so hard to build. And in those quiet, early hours, as the sun rose and the world woke up, their hearts beat as one, full of hope, joy, and endless love.
Their first year as newlyweds was filled with moments like these—simple, tender, and deeply romantic. Jade’s unwavering love and Alina’s quiet but steadfast devotion created a bond that grew stronger with each passing day. And as they faced the world together, they knew that their love was a treasure worth every effort, every challenge, and every sleepless night.
