Chapter 1

Settings
When you look at the planet from the sky it resembles a small blue and green ball, having gradients with light and dark shades; somewhere you will see sand color, but the view is still capturing. And near to you fly white fluffy clouds, getting bright unexpected colors from reflecting the sunlight: from light grey to bright — bright red, sometimes dark blue if it rains on earth. Not many people think where angels live, and they live on the clouds, in another world, hidden from people's eyes, or else they would be found very easily, when people fly on planes, for example. Sometimes angels go down to the Earth, and to do so, they need to open a portal in the barrier, which leads winged creatures to humans’ world, and hide their belonging to angels. — «Do you hear me, Jackie?» — «Uh huh!» — «There, on the Earth, are much more beautiful plants with dark green plants and flowers with different colors than you can see here. And someday we will go down there.» A middle-aged man was sitting on the edge of a cloud, hugging his son, they were watching the planet from the sky, which seemed much smaller than it is, while the angel was talking about life there. — «This, though, won’t happen soon, firstly you need to grow up and learn magic, and till this time you must never go there without adults, you would lost and could not return back again.» — «I won't be lost!» — the boy fastly replied. — «You sure? And who could not find a way back to home in the neighboring area earlier?» Jack, flushed with embarrassment, quickly babbled in an excuse: — «That was an accident!» — «And this is why you won’t go there without accompaniment.» — «Oka-ay!» They stood up from the edge, then went to the golden gates leading inside the town

A few years later A teenager flew into a building, which always has open doors during the day, hardly stopped near the main librarian’s table, smoothed his disheveled hair, then positioned his arms on the table. An old angel with grizzled hair was this boy’s father’s old friend, just earlier was a mentor for too energetic boy, and now is working as a librarian. — «Good morning, Jackie. What brings you today?» — «I am twelve stars now, can you imagine this? And now, can I bring books about teleportation? Plea-ase!» — The boy leaned forward, maintaining his balance with his palms, almost laying down on the table. — «There will be no practice without adults, only reading, right, Jackie?» — «Yeah-yeah-yeah, I won’t read it out loud, I promise!» Joshamee only raised his eyebrow looking at the boy. The little angel was not gifted with diligence, and usually broke the rules, did he do that on purpose or not was a mystery. — «I’ll be quiet there! It’s so interesting, but we don’t learn this at school», — he stated, pouting. — «You are learning the basics at school, without it you wouldn’t be able to move on. What is the profit of reading all high level books if you could not use the knowledge you got from it when you don’t know the previous levels?» — «Fine, fine.» Jack put the id card on the table, leaning towards it, waiting. Gibbs recorded his presence, then said: — «Sector twelve, E.» When he heard the direction, he was excited, and instantly picked up a card, smiling, and almost flew away at high speed, shouting «thank you!», but then he needed to stop when he heard drawling voice calling his name: — «Ja-ackie.» He froze, then put his feet on the floor, turned around and looked at Gibbs. — «Everything that is situated in the library will stay here.» — «Of course, never bring something to your home, I remember that.» The boy turned around again and flew in the pointed direction. When he found the sector he needed, Jack attached the card with permission and an invisible barrier fell, letting him inside. When he looked around he only noticed middle-aged angels who surely reached the fourth grade of education, and maybe even in multiple fields. The young angel stood out from the others. He was slowly flying between the book racks, reading the titles and thinking from which to start. He saw treatises like «The history of magic from ancient times», «The use of magic for patronage», «The history of humans’ world», «The interaction with humans’ world»… Jack dreamily took a book about portals, imagining how he would go to the Earth one day. Their world is hidden from humans’ eyes by a magic barrier, literally situated in another dimension, and no matter how high people would fly on planes they would not be able to see them that easily: firstly you need to create a crack, «open a door» into people’s world, and after this an angel can go down there. Well, an angel can go down there without passing through the barrier, then people won’t see him, but Jack was underaged and without someone guiding him, he still was not allowed to go. Jack still wanted to go to talk with them and taste their sweets. The school where he went had taught them only basic things needed for everyday life, not even touching something more serious, and was just the first step in learning adventure. But Jack just wanted more and right now, so he sometimes went to the library in hope to find an easy way, but he never succeeded in reading the spell correctly. When Jack turned fifteen stars, he began to make a plan how he would be able to go to the Earth without waiting for so long. In the list there were how to take away the book from the library (the easiest part of the plan of course), because you can make a crack in the barrier only if you stand near it, be able to read the spell, and make a plan how to go away from home for some hours without being noticed. The plan seemed to be reliable, he only needed to learn spells. When he was seventeen, the plan was almost perfectly done: the book could be carried through the window above, prudently left open just before closing, so that no one would check at the end of the working day, and the parents will think he went to draw flowers because «the sunlight gives the most beautiful color gradients». Even the bag was prepared. Just to others’ eyes.

The early morning, as planned, Jack went out of the home, avoiding the window overview just in case someone wasn’t sleeping at that time. The open window wasn’t noticed by anyone, so angel went down to the hall, picking up the book left on the nearest shelf. Flying away from the building, the boy hadn’t felt any magic effect nor on himself or the book. On the outskirts of the city there were a lot of convenient places for opening a door in humans’ world, he often observed other angels who went down on the Earth. He looked around to be sure no one’s watching, and found nobody who would spy on him. And there was a little left to do. He opened the book on a needed page, pulled out one hand forward, focusing on the flow of magic. It happened it wasn’t enough to just read a spell higher than your level of knowledge, the books he was allowed to read haven’t talked about all nuances, for example, not only right pronunciation required, which kids were taught since their first grade, some spells also need full concentration on one’s thoughts and sensations, or some rituals or special tools were required too. No one wrote this in public books for obvious reasons: one day someone will surely want to try magic a level higher than level one has, and this momentary desire to show off will not always end in the fright of everyone present. Jack spent a large amount of time to find out about these nuances, he searched for information in other angels’ home libraries, who did not even think about hiding books from curious children. They might not even know about those details themselves to hide them, anyway it wasn’t important right now. The important thing was the fact that the spell started working, and the door opened in front of Jack. A bright smile appeared on his face, and he shouted «It worked!», then ran towards the door, suddenly dropped the book. The magic pushed the door and it swung open, leading to another world, where Jack, without any hesitation, jumped, caught by the wind.
