The battle for sensei’s heart
“You know, Ren, I've been wanting to ask you a question for a long time.” It was Friday evening. School was already over, and Yoh, instead of honing his impressive fighting game skills, which he specialized in, was sitting idly on his bed and suddenly decided to talk to his roommate. Ren was doing sit-ups on the floor at the time. “If you wanted to ask something, ask quickly and don't bother me,” the Chinese guy answered in an even voice — as if he wasn't doing physical exercises, but calmly drinking tea at the table. Asakura thought for a moment, and then blurted out: “Why are you here?” Ren didn't even bat an eyelash, and this reaction puzzled Yoh a little. A few seconds passed before the answer came. “I don't see any need to tell you my reasons.” “ Hmm,” Yoh drawled, swinging his legs over the side of the bed and peering more closely at his classmate’s pumped-up body. “ Please don’t be offended. I just can’t understand why a successful person like you would want to get a secondary education at our school. You could have finished your studies at any elite academy or lyceum. After all, you’re much cooler than all of us, Ren. And you’re not interested in e-sports. My brain is simply boiling! I don’t see the point in you wasting your time in this wilderness.” Tao interrupted his exercise and sat down on the floor so that he was facing his interlocutor. He calmly looked at the curious Asakura and raised an eyebrow. “ I’m not here for e-sports, you noticed correctly. I’m not interested in it at all. I prefer to be in reality rather than drown in the digital world.” Yoh moved to the edge of the bed to lean closer to his classmate. “Then why are you here?” Tao looked into the Japanese guy’s eyes a little too seriously, as if warning him that what he was saying now would have to remain a secret. “Because of her.” Yoh Asakura wouldn't be Yoh Asakura if he understood everything right away. It took him a while to figure out who Tao was talking about. But after racking his brains, he still didn't understand anything. “Who are you talking about now?” the brown-haired man smiled stupidly, scratching his cheek with his index finger. Tao had no doubts about the dumbness of this guy. He was even surprised how such a good-natured person could be such a slow-witted person. “About Kioyama Anna, of course.” Yoh felt a little uneasy after hearing this. Why did the heir of a cool family from China suddenly decide to come to this provincial school for the sake of a physical education sensei. “An unexpected turn of events,” Yoh was confused. “Do you know her?” Ren brushed his bangs off his forehead with an elegant flick of his fingers. This sight made Yoh think once again that aristocrats were not from this planet. “We don't know each other, but we should have. Do you know that Kioyama Anna is a genius? She became the coach of the Chinese Olympic all-around team at only 15 years old. This girl is capable of turning an ordinary athlete into an Olympic champion. That's why I came for her. I need her.” Yoh knew little about physical education, much less the Olympics. He loved to eat, sleep, listen to music, and play Tekken. Incidentally, Asakura had shown himself quite well in this fighting game at tournaments. But unfortunately, he couldn't win the Summer World Championship, even though he was in the top ten winners. After thinking logically, Yoh came to this conclusion. “Do you want to participate in the all-around Olympics?” To which Ren chuckled. “No, I'm not interested. I need Anna as a personal trainer.” Yoh's temple was filled with confusion. He glanced at his classmate again, mentally acknowledging that his physical fitness was top notch. “You're already in excellent shape,” Asakura let out a nervous laugh and immediately met his interlocutor's stern gaze. “I know that very well. I've been doing martial arts since childhood. It can't be any other way,” Tao stated as a matter of course. “Then what do you want from Kyoyama-sensei?” Ren's golden eyes flashed at this question, which spoke of extreme determination. “She has a special training system, according to which she trains only the chosen ones. I dream of completing this special course. After that, I will have no equal in the whole world. I will become the undisputed king of martial arts!” Yoh could only rejoice at such far-reaching plans of this Chinese youth, but he could not share his enthusiasm. Somehow his heart became uneasy when the conversation turned to sweet Kyoyama-sensei. “Plus, Anna is quite cute,” Ren added by the way. “She is my type. Her brutal training makes my heart burn.” And then Yoh was shocked. He was not lying to the guys when he spoke highly of Kyoyama-sensei. She really was beautiful and unattainable, and her sadistic smile made him break out in a cold sweat. And Anna was also a teacher, and she would never look at her student as a guy who admired her. Yoh himself had recently realized that he had deeper feelings for the unapproachable sensei than the usual respect of a student for a teacher. He was both ashamed and pleased at the same time. Until now, no one had competed with him for the right to love the ideal blonde girl. But Tao appeared with his quirks. “How can you say that, Ren? She’s much older than us!” Asakura suddenly remembered, trying to bring the Chinese guy back to common sense. Ren only grinned boyishly, to which Yoh gritted his teeth. “Asakura, she’s the same age as us. I told you she’s a genius. She just acts like that to seem older and to be feared and respected.” Yoh was shocked again. What he could never have imagined in his life was that the girl he had romantic feelings for would be his age. He had always been sure that she was at least six years older. So, not all was lost. So, there was a real chance to win this battle. And Yoh was always ready for battles, even if not real, but virtual ones. “Ren, you were honest with me. Thank you. I also want to confess something to you.” Tao raised an intrigued eyebrow. And Yoh, uncharacteristically for himself, looked very seriously at his rival in matters of the heart. “ I like Kyoyama-sensei as a girl. And I am not going to give her to you. Of course, the choice is still hers, but know, Ren, that from today on you have a rival.” Such a statement somewhat amused the young Chinese. He even got up from the floor and approached his roommate, who was still sitting on the bed. “Well, if we are going to have a serious battle here,” Tao spoke mockingly, “ let's make a bet. The first one of us that Anna will start training according to a special program will get the right to start courting her.” In front of him Yoh saw the outstretched hand of the cunning Chinese. Ren was smiling as if he had already won this bet. But Yoh was not going to back down. He would definitely make every effort to make Kyoyama-sensei - no, just Anna - interested in his physical training according to a special course. And then he would confess his feelings to her. No second chances. No escapes. Just a simple come what may. “Deal,” Yoh answered confidently and firmly shook his opponent's hand. The battle for Anna Kyoyama's heart had begun.Chapter 1
