Hello, Polytech with a trick

A month had passed since Hope Estheim entered this prestigious university, where he studied the most advanced technologies of the time. And it was after one single month of inspired classes in cybernetics and the development of artificial intelligence that Hope realized, at the age of less than eighteen, that life was pain. And it was all because the educational institution, where the young man intended to get a ticket to his bright and high-tech future, was a military structure, and military disciplines and methods were taught there along with the main areas of the faculties. When it came to specialized subjects, Hope felt like a fish in water and even managed to distinguish himself with his bright mind and innovative ideas. Military disciplines brought the young scientist back to earth and forced him to open his eyes to one simple truth: he was a weakling and a pale feebleness. Hope had never been particularly good at physical training in physical education classes at the lyceum, where he graduated with honors, but even there he managed to cope somehow. Here, everything was much more difficult. The teachers were from the military and their teaching methods were also military orienteered. The lecturer himself, if you could call him that, had the figure of a bodybuilder and he was tall as a rock. Hope was afraid to even look at him from his slightly below-average height. Combat training took place three times a week. These were the least favorite days for Estheim. But there was another day, namely Thursday, which Hope both looked forward to and dreaded. On that day, right after nuclear physics, there was a subject called "Life Safety Fundamentals and Survival Practice" on the schedule. The subject was one of the most difficult within the walls of this university. This was not the usual Life Safety from the school curriculum. This subject prepared students to become real cyborgs. That was the impression Hope got when he listened to his first lecture of the semester. Along with general knowledge of life safety, they taught material for real soldiers. At first, the young man could not understand why they - techies and programmers - needed to know and be able to do all this, until the lecturer made it clear and he understood the answer. “You are the future of our country. Your minds are an invaluable resource. You will not always be able to protect yourself in civilian life. You must be able to stand up for yourself and not fall into the hands of the enemy. That is why you are listening to my course of lectures, which next semester will move on to practical classes in the field. Be prepared for this.” And since then, Hope had been preparing for who knew what. That girl's speech inspired him to become stronger, to become better and not to be afraid of anything. He did not know why, but Professor Claire Farron made such an impression on him that he could not get over it. Her crystal blue eyes pierced to the depths of his soul. She was a delightful lecturer and an unusually beautiful girl with a tough army character. "Lightning" - that's what she was nicknamed for her military service - was also among those liable for military service and at the age of twenty-four managed to serve up to the rank of captain. She was like a Valkyrie from Scandinavian epics: proud, cold, majestic and mysteriously charming. Hope did not know how it happened, but unfamiliar, sincere feelings for the unapproachable girl lecturer began to appear in his heart. She was a strict teacher and did not tolerate weaklings. That is why Hope was afraid to show himself as such in front of her. The other students in his group had about the same problems. No one wanted to lose face in front of a beautiful lady, but the problem was that Professor Farron was far from being a lady for everyone. She could stand up for herself and sought to teach others to do the same. Her lectures consisted of theory and logical problems, which would then need to be applied in practice. The discipline was very difficult for those whose minds were focused on studying the higher exact sciences. Therefore, students often complained to each other about their hard fate and that they chose the wrong university. Hope did not share this opinion. He got here without exams, because he managed to win world Olympiads in several disciplines. And he chose this university because it had the most advanced technologies and the most promising opportunities for scientists. Estheim could not even imagine that the military component of this wonderful higher educational institution would become a real bummer for him (and not only for him). All the knowledge for which he entered here, he absorbed like a sponge, and this brought him to a feeling of some euphoria. He was a scientist through and through. But military training ... it made him want to howl at the moon - this world was so alien to him. The only bridge that connected his mind and heart with the army regime was Professor Farron. Yes, he was afraid of her. After all, the girl exuded the aura of a winner and an unapproachable person. But, at the same time, Hope waited for every Thursday to see her again, to admire her endurance again, to hear her loud and commandingly clear voice, to see her extraordinary eyes. She became an ideal for him, something he wanted to strive for. Hope could not know for sure whether he would need the knowledge she taught her students in life, but her speech about how the country regarded the new generation of graduates as a valuable and irreplaceable resource that needed to be protected inspired him and resonated in his young heart. Only a month had passed since he began his studies. During this time, he had not made any friends. His classmates were nothing more than people with whom he shared the learning process. Perhaps he was considered an unsociable conceited genius loner. At the lyceum, he had a nickname similar in meaning, but this never bothered him. In the end, Hope spent most of his time immersed in his studies, or in the company of robot assistants, which he himself invented when he was still only a green eighth-grader. And this lifestyle suited Hope. He liked to be alone and invent something new and incredible. Only now, having become a student, his closed nature had to endure an attack from the outside. The fact was that the professor of combat training, apparently, noticed great potential in the skinny Hope and began to passionately train the weak body of the student until he passed the standards with "excellent". Perhaps the professor and part-time senior lieutenant Snow Willers had the best intentions regarding the "genius of cybernetics", but in reality it turned out that Hope was almost carried away on a stretcher to the medical center a couple of times due to exhaustion. Hope was not predisposed to physical education and even more so to intensive army training. Returning once again from classes at the stadium on shaking legs, holding on to the wall, the young man once again reproached himself for not having inquired about the educational system at this university. All he noticed when he entered here was the high statistics of academic degrees and scientific achievements among graduates. He did not pay attention to the other side of the coin. However, perhaps a month was too short of a period to judge. Perhaps everything would still improve, and studying here would only bring joy, and combat training classes would become an excellent reason to improve your health. Hope really expected this. That is exactly what he thought, entering the auditorium, where in five minutes Professor Claire Farron was supposed to begin her lecture. It was another Thursday, which gave Hope the opportunity to gain knowledge on the basics of life safety and survival practices, and also to see the mysterious ideal girl again.
