Tommy Innit’s guide to become a god

The first day of Tommy's life - the day then his mother died. People, who took him, are replacing childhood to safety and creating a perfect hero. Hero just wants to find a new family.

When Tommy opened the door to mother's friend, he wasn't expecting the life-changing news to be broken. When doctor Ponk tells Tommy's mother is in the hospital in critical condition, Tommy doesn't believe it. He screams, he cries, he hopes that it's a lie, a cruel joke. When he's asked to visit his mother in the hospital the next day, he runs as fast as he has never runned before. When touching wounded mother's hand, Tommy cries, he feels something bad is near. When Tommy stands at the funeral, he is silent - tears have been left at the ward H4 of the hospital. When he agrees to stay with Ponk at the laboratory, Tommy sets a goal to become the strongest hero ever. The habitual purity of all-white room stopped triggering him a long time ago. Tom got used to seeing the same lanterns and clear corridors of the Lab, its employees who raised him, patients who got under the influence of someone's power and can't get out of it and test subjects, like himself. But today it was too noisy in the lab. Even though today is Sunday and all experiments are stopped, except emergency and regular ones, right now most of the doctors and scientists were on their feet, loudly arguing and discussing something. Walking out of his room, blond winced, squinted too tired for his 8 years, and mentally noted to tell, how side "improvements" of the body only makes it harder and more annoying. Improved hearing and vision, like some hybrids have, were completely unsuitable for a simple mage-boy, even with his strong body. Reaching the hall in thought, Tommy stopped near the exit, looking dumbfoundedly at the group of children standing in the middle of the reception hall, accompanied by two heroes from the Tower. The situation wasn't unusual, but the children's condition was: completely disheveled, in clothes for operations, covered in bandages and plasters, with cuts, they huddled together in a group, looking at people in white clothes and medical masks with terror. - They were in the underground lab of 2b2t corporation - noticed a nearby doctor - they got inhumane treatment... And now they're scared of us - Tommy heard a tired sigh - That's why doctor Ponk is busy in his department - The doctor said with an apologetic half-smile, going somewhere away from Tommy. The blond just looked thoughtfully at the group of children, when he noticed two, standing little away from the rest. He decided to accurately approach them. Tall boy, looking 4 years older than Tom, was holding hands with a girl, possibly only one year older than Tommy, hiding her from everyone else, first noticed blond and looked at him questioningly. Not thinking about his actions, Tommy waved his hand in greeting, quietly said: - Hi! I'm Tom Simons - trying to look at least a little bit welcoming, boy looked at the new faces with a searching gaze. - What do you need from us? - slightly aggressively, but more cautiously said the front boy, because of this, he received a light blow from his, apparently, friend. The pink-haired girl herself stood next to him, saying: - Hello. I'm Niki Nihachu, and this boor - William Gold. Nice to meet here someone why isn't three times older than we - she skeptically gazed at doctors, who sometimes were looking at Tommy, but didn't even try to approach him, while doing their job. - Nice to meet you. It's just that everyone else here who isn't a doctor is usually asleep at six o'clock on a Sunday morning - the blond said a little irritatedly, examining his interlocutors in more detail. The guy was a curly-haired brunette with weird bangs and glasses, while the girl had long pink hair and was significantly shorter than both guys. - And you, Tom... What are you doing here? - Will asked warily, looking at his too kind friend. On his new acquaintance Wilbur noticed definitely not a doctor’s uniform and also several bandages, which already meant a lot to him. - Me? I live here. Well, Dr. Ponk makes a real hero out of me! - Tommy raised his voice a little at his last words, after which he winced at his own noisiness - I understand how this looks to you, but the people at End Lab want the best for you. Now, I guess, I'll just stay out of your way - the blond finished crumpledly, waving goodbye - I hope we'll see each other again!
