Imaginary Frenemy

Notes:
This song is about the one who is the reason why the lead male character seems a little crazy. That's an imaginary person, who is a full copy of the lead character, acts like a loyal friend who is ready to listen and comfort, but sometimes becomes a real enemy who encourages him to commit unforgivable things, take revenge, hate, and so on. This imaginary person kinda helps but kinda harms. Meanwhile, the lead character understands that this creature helped him hold on for so long and kept what could have helped him put everything in order if he had wanted. But he does not want to. He tries so hard to escape it. And, the imaginary frenemy is kinda a keeper, and he had been playing this role for many years before he started to hint that time is up, and he should come back to the roots. I actually planned that he would appear in the nightmare of the lead male character. But his role changed little by little and became more ambiguous, even though there's a reason for all of this. And I explain it in this song. The reason why I postponed the publication of it for later is a spoiler. A lot of spoilers, I would say. Anyway, this character played a major role in the life of the lead male character. Of course, he has done a lot of bad things a hundred years ahead, but the star of this whole story did not rush to resist it and woke up when it was almost too late.
[Verse 1]
No one heard the pleas I screamed
They didn't care they saw me bleed
People devalued the poor baby's pain
They laughed and said I went insane
In the end, I was forced to apologize
'Cause I was a slanderer in their eyes
[Pre-Chorus]
But when I was lonely and humiliated
When I was damn weak and rejected
You came alive not to let me freak out
To keep what could break me down
[Chorus]
Should I call you my enemy or friend?
Do you want to destroy me or protect?
You always listen, you can comfort
But you turn me against the world
Something is missing, but I don't care
I ain't gonna remember that nightmare
Are you kind and nice or evil and mean?
How could it be you and I are the same?
[Post-Chorus]
You're just my imaginary frenemy
(My imaginary frenemy, oh-oh-oh)
[Verse 2]
No years patched the holes in my soul
They didn't care I was broken and alone
I didn't say a word, but I was so scared
You were next to me, but it didn't help
Harming was my way to punish myself
'Cause you couldn't save me from hell
[Pre-Chorus]
When I was dying to harm and avenge
And I wanted to see my enemies dead
You came alive to encourage and gloat
To convince me to walk the dark road
[Chorus]
Should I call you my enemy or friend?
Do you want to destroy me or protect?
You always listen, you can comfort
But you turn me against the world
Something is missing, but I don't care
I ain't gonna remember that nightmare
Are you kind and nice or evil and mean?
How could it be you and I are the same?
[Post-Chorus]
You're just my imaginary frenemy
(My imaginary frenemy, la-la-la)
[Bridge]
I ain't a criminal, I ain't a monster
I'm not a killer, I'm not a robber
All I want now is just to break free
Make you leave my head and body
[Pre-Chorus]
La, la, la, la (imaginary friend)
La, la, la, la (imaginary enemy)
[Breakdown]
Who are you? (I'm a part of your soul)
What are you? (come back to the roots)
[Chorus]
Should I call you my enemy or friend? (I just wanna live)
Do you want to destroy (destroy) me or protect (protect)?
You always listen, you can comfort (I ain't gonna die)
But you turn me against the world
Something is missing, but I don't care (leave me alone)
I ain't gonna (ain't gonna) remember that nightmare
Are you kind and nice or evil and mean? (I can't take this)
How could it be (whoa, whoa) you and I are the same?
[Post-Chorus]
You're my imaginary frenemy (yeah, yeah)
You're my friend, you're my enemy (oh, oh)
My imaginary friend (I just wanna live)
My imaginary enemy (leave me alone)
Whoa, whoa, whoa (I ain't gonna die)
[Outro]
You're my imaginary frenemy...
