I'm Sonic, but I can't stop being mechanic

Settings
I usually tend to hate modern technology and science. You know very well how hard I fight against Eggman and his army? How I hate him and what he does to unfortunate nature. Except that sometimes I accept technology and other things from my best brother. Tails always helped me and never let me down with his technique. No wonder he was born a child prodigy and a mechanic. But you personally have always been curious, what would happen if suddenly I was still interested in science, machines and robots? One day I thought about this myself and decided to try myself in the role of my two-tailed friend. No no! I didn't switch bodies with Tails! But you will be surprised. Believe me.

***

One day I decided to visit Tails and went to visit him. I knock on the door, but he doesn’t open. I thought that he must have fallen asleep there and decided not to wake him up for now. Then I decided to go in without asking, so as not to wake him up. Let him sleep. I hope he won’t mind if I look in on him like a thief through the window, although I’m actually not a thief. I climb through the window into the warehouse and see that inside there is a bunch of drawings, tools and mechanics, which Tails, apparently, has not yet managed to finish. Although I didn’t really like technology and robots, any technology from my best friend was interesting to me. Walking up to my desk, I scratched my chin and then something dawned on me. No matter how strange or stupid it may sound, I decided to try myself as a mechanic. So what? If my friend could do it, then why am I worse? Taking wrenches in both hands, I looked at the drawings and judging by the drawing it was said that some such parts need to be inserted there and connected, but before that it seems necessary to insert several gears, a couple of springs and some other detail with flashing light. Forgive me, unfortunately I’m not good at remembering all these things. However, I still figured out more or less the drawings on the floor. I tried to look at them carefully. You know this saying, right? β€œMeasure seven times and cut once!” Everyone took this very seriously, that it was necessary to measure exactly seven times, and as a result they made everything gigantic, that is, seven times larger and higher than planned. However, in reality, this saying meant that you need to carefully check everything even a hundred times, and not just seven, and only then do it. Usually I don't like to think. First of all, I always act first, and only then think, if suddenly I don’t even succeed with actions. However, now I wanted to think first before acting. I even surprised myself when I saw the light before this. I was lucky that I could read. So I took everything I needed and started building and tinkering. At first I took gears, springs, connecting sticks that looked like wrenches or screwdrivers, or something mixed in between. Having collected all this, I began to connect them to each other according to the drawings. I drilled the screws, screwed the nuts onto the screws and soldered them with a blowtorch. Of course, just in case, I even put welding goggles over my eyes so as not to be blinded by some sparks, although fortunately there were none. But it still didn’t hurt to be on the safe side! For the first time in my life, I tried to make my own invention and I came up with something similar to an engine inside an iron bubble. It even sparkled with stars, like a clean mirror. At the same moment, Tails came to the warehouse and was surprised both by my appearance and by the fact that I did for him what he could not do. β€” Sonic?... What are you doing here?... Why do you have tools in your hands?... And?... Did you make it yourself? β€” Yes. The fox ran up to me and hugged me. β€” Thank you, Sonic. I thought about doing it at night, but I was so tired and decided to put it off until tomorrow. That is, for today. And you came to me and made it yourself. How did you do it? β€” I don’t know, I just carefully read your drawings, took the tools in my hands and... I did it. β€” then everything finally dawned on me. And then I firmly decided: β€” β€œNow I will also be a mechanic!” β€” I thought in my thoughts and noticed that Tails was examining his, or rather this time, my first invention and I asked him: β€” What kind of machine is this, if it’s not a secret!? β€” Machine for creating antimatter. I want to send it into space so that it can fly there, not touch anything or anyone, not disturb anyone, and create antimatter. Then I will collect it into special magnetic cells and release powerful energy from them. Almost free and cheap electricity in short! β€” Crap. β€” I was scared. β€” This was not written on your drawings. What if I did something wrong and created a real bomb that would blow us all up? Miles immediately laughed and replied: β€” No, Sonic. Even if you made a mistake somewhere, she still wouldn’t start working yet. Although you assembled it, you forgot to add three missing parts inside. β€” he explained to me and showed me those computer-like parts that I forgot to add. And how could I forget about them. β€” But thanks for the help anyway. Next, I will remove one iron wall myself and install them inside it. As I walked home after saying goodbye to Tails, I decided not to give up or dwell on it. You'll think that I made a mistake once, forgetting about those details. They say that you learn from mistakes. I'll just take this into account in advance and next time I won't forget anything. I firmly told even myself that I would be a new mechanic and quickly ran to Eggman’s base. No, don’t fight him and ruin his plans, but ask him for a few parts and hardware. He didn’t even understand why I needed all this, and when I explained to him that I wanted to become a mechanic and invent, at first he didn’t believe me and laughed, as if he took me for a fool. Nevertheless, he still gave me what I needed. Taking everything I needed, I ran to my home.

When I was sitting on a chair at home, trying not to be distracted by anything and without going anywhere, I began to think about what I could come up with and invent that science had not yet come up with in nature. I thought and thought and thought and thought and thought and thought and thought and thought until I fell asleep from boredom. At that moment I dreamed that I had invented a time machine. I even remembered how I created it in a dream. So when I woke up, I decided to make my dream come true. As far as I remember, I have already traveled through time a couple of times, but it was either because of the time stones, or by accident, but why not try to create a time machine itself, and most importantly, that it would not work on the energy of some stones or emeralds, but on natural energy. Like uranium or plutonium. I don’t even understand where I got and know all this knowledge from? Don't ask!

I got to work and began making my second invention, which will surpass Tails' machine for making anti-substance. Well, at least that's what I hoped. Fortunately, all the spare parts and hardware that Eggman gave me were enough. This time I tried not to miss anything and did everything from memory. I myself couldn’t wait to test my invention on myself first of all, to see if it would really work. I got a little tired and tired while I was working. But still, I'm almost done. I was distracted from further work on the time machine by Knuckles, who stopped by for a visit. β€” Hello, Sonic. Have you seen Big here by any chance? I want to pour a bucket of sour cream on his head and make fun of him... Wow! What are you inventing? β€” Yes. I decided to take up mechanics, just like Tails. β€” What are you building? β€” he asked and I couldn’t help but answer him: β€” Time Machine. β€” Wow! Can I try it on myself? A? Oh please! I have long wanted to really go into the Jurassic period myself and look at real living dinosaurs. β€” Fine, fine. And while I was finishing the time machine, Knuckles, having forgotten that he wanted to make fun of Big, decided to sit next to me and wait for me to finish.

After about a couple of hours maximum, I finished building the time machine and it was ready. Exactly, one hundred percent copy from my dream, both outside and inside. It is made in the form of a refrigerator. But it doesn’t freeze inside, but moves it there whenever you want. β€” So, Knuckles? Ready to experience? β€” I asked him, and he answered me: β€” Ha! You ask! I'm always ready. And together with him we went inside my car... Although I would even say the refrigerator of time, closed the door behind us and entered the date on the sensor for exactly so many millions of years ago, when dinosaurs lived on Mobius, when it was still called Earth and when Dinosaurs walked and ruled the Earth. When we pressed the red button to start, we began to shake. When the shaking stopped and we opened the door of the time refrigerator, we found ourselves in dinosaur time. There we were almost eaten by one giant lizard with small hands. We barely managed to escape in my time machine back to the future. We found ourselves in our present and Knuckles was very happy with what he saw and experienced. In the evening, I looked at Tails and also showed him my invention. At first he didn’t believe it, but I brought him to me and together with him we also moved into the past to the dinosaurs, and then also looked into the future. Then my brother believed me about the time machine.

The next day, Tails held a meeting throughout the village and told about my invention, presenting it to all our friends and people. Even Eggman was shocked and offered me a lot of money to sell him my time machine. I just gave him the car, but I didn’t take any money from him. And no! You don't have to be afraid. He only used my time machine to look into the future and check what he would be like in the future. Tails even invited me to work with him. Now we will invent together. I firmly decided then that now I would definitely be a mechanic.

***

At night, when I went to bed, I began to wait in my dreams to see what else I could invent. If it worked with the time machine, it will work with the others. Today, oddly enough, I dreamed that I invented a lot of new inventions. A video camera that automatically cuts out unnecessary chroma keys, boots to speed up so that everyone runs at my speed, a robot butler, artificial intelligence that will never rebel against humanity and will know when to stop, that people will also have to work themselves, a fed universe, a second artificial the sun in case the first one dies and even a real perpetual motion machine. I created so many things in my dreams that I actually stole all the glory from other scientists who wanted to achieve the same thing. Even Tails and Eggman themselves were disappointed with me and I didn’t even understand why at first. And when I finally realized that they wanted to achieve all this over time, and I stupidly stole all their ideas from them and implemented them all before they did, thereby passing them off as my inventions, it was already too late. All my friends left me and stopped talking to me. Even Amy. Why did I need them now, when I have fame, a lot of money and fame throughout the world. And yet I now regretted it. How I wish they would all forgive me. But it's too late. When I woke up, I was a little scared and at the same time calm. It's good that it was just a dream. At that very moment Tails came to me. β€” O! Awoke? Did you dream about something that you invented? Let's start doing this together right now. However, today's dream served me as a real lesson. Therefore, I decided to refuse to be a mechanic and trusted only Tails to invent everything. At first he didn’t understand why I refused to be a mechanic and I explained to him what I dreamed about today. Then Tails and I agreed that from now on only he would invent, and I’d had enough of the time machine. It is necessary to leave at least something for other scientists and their descendants, so that they themselves can come up with all this and then invent it over time. Otherwise, if one person, like me, implements all this himself and leaves nothing of the ideas to anyone, then no one will need all the scientists and mechanics... Well, at least until the end of a hundred or a thousand years. Since then, I never invent or invent anything again. And I never picked up tools like a wrench or a screwdriver again. Unless Tails asks me to give him some.
