Of course, the “Book of Fanfiction” is very popular, and now FicFan is also gaining it. There are works that could be called both a work of art and a pleasure to read. Some are illegible and cause rejection. If you, as an author, fall into the second category with your works, then you urgently need to be taught how to write and format the text correctly! Work cap Well, that's what you do to entice readers. This means that its preparation must be approached with all responsibility. The title, fandom, and characters don't really need to be explained. I can only wish to use modifiers if the characters show any changes from the canon. And, preferably, indicate all pairings. Now the description. If your work is small, up to about five pages, then it does not have to be large. Just a few suggestions. And if you are writing a huge novel, then it is advisable to use all the space. I have come across works where part of the description was transferred to the notes, because there was not enough space to explain everything. But description is incredibly important. This is how, after reading the fandom and the characters, the reader chooses a fanfic for himself. Of course, descriptions are not required. But you can add something important about the work there, for example, the frequency of new chapters or character art. Of course, not everyone, it would stretch the cap too much. When publishing here, everything is at the discretion of the author. Of course, few people want their work to be in an unknown location. Therefore, it is better to disable or set “Check”. Chapter titles Choose the path for yourself - maintain intrigue or partially reveal the plot. For example, you called the chapter “Battle”. The reader immediately understands that an epic battle will take place here. And if you want the reader to not know what the chapter is about until he opens it, well, let's say you're bad at coming up with titles, use "Chapter 1" and so on. What if you want to maintain suspense and partially reveal the plot? Well, then this is the scheme. In the title you write “Chapter 1”, and in the chapter itself on the first line - the title. This will give your work a special charm. If you want to make the titles beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, try the "Chapter 1: Battle" option. It's very nice and helps keep the chapters structured. And one more case. Your work consists of one chapter. In this case, there is no need to worry about the name. But in such cases I use "***". It makes the title look nicer instead of that boring "Chapter 1" thing. Comment before the part Rarely used, but you can summarize everything that will be in this chapter. But this greatly spoils the intrigue. Here you can also provide links to characters appearing in these chapters. Test design The first thing you need to remember is that there are two styles of writing. 1. Book. You will find this in any published work. Highlighting paragraphs, but without an additional line, ideal formatting of dialogues, italics, bold and strikethrough are almost never seen, in general, you yourself know. There are also no grammatical errors. 2. "Local". What you won't see here! In general, there are convenient functions here. Separating paragraphs with additional lines makes reading easier and does not cause an eyesore. Italics, bold, and strikethrough help convey what is happening more accurately. Oh, and the eternal mistakes. I am aware, and I do them, but sometimes it goes beyond all possible limits. I also really like the footnote function, it’s very convenient. If anything, she goes to clarify the information right while reading. You can also remember by expressing time intervals, such as “A few days later.” It is advisable to write them in the center, in italics, or in bold or two. Here it is as the author wishes. The right edge can display locations or specific times. "***" is used to divide a chapter into several separate scenes. Of course, you can indicate transitions by changing locations, but “***” is also very convenient and better perceived by readers. I don’t like strikethrough text, especially if you shouldn’t overuse it, it looks ugly, but it is used to depict hidden emotions. Eg: - What? - he didn’t understand. Wha-a-a-at? In terms of? Which one? What is going on??? Volume The average chapter is 5-6 pages. If you are writing a full-length novel, then I advise you to write 10+. But no more than 30. This makes it more difficult for the reader to perceive information. Of course, this does not apply to drabbles. Here you can write even one page, and no one will say a word to you. Comment after the part Nobody limits you here. You can also briefly retell the chapter, congratulate you on the upcoming holiday, talk about your emotions while writing the chapter, references to something, or about your achievements. Write here whatever you think is relevant. Conclusion Well, of course, to make the text clear and enjoyable to read, a lot needs to be done. But it's not that difficult. By following a few simple (and not so simple) steps, you can attract more attention to your work. That's all, thanks for reading. Let me remind you that you can find other writing tips on my profile.
