So, the week of my stay here had already passed, and I could no longer guarantee my safety. For the previous seven days I had not had nightmares, I had not been assaulted, the electricity had not been cut off, and in general I felt safe. Only sometimes there were panic attacks, but I quickly suppressed them.
That night I didn’t dream anything that could point me to a monster, so my excitement grew. I understood that the monster could attack me anywhere, anytime and try to kill me in any way. I didn’t even know if a weapon would help me.
I somehow detachedly took the bat and went to the kitchen. I wish I could relive this day. I went out into the corridor and pushed the door, but it did not budge. I pulled towards me, but she seemed to freeze. I tried to open the front door, but it was locked. The bathroom also became inaccessible to me. I realized that the world had decided to starve me to death.
I returned to the bedroom, remembering that I had a chocolate bar in my nightstand. It turned out that way, but I decided to leave it for later.
Fortunately, the passage in the living room was open. This means I had two rooms at my disposal. Suddenly a hunch dawned on me. Window. I tried to open the largest one, located in the living room, but nothing came of it. Tightly sealed.
I resigned myself, hoping it would be for one day. Otherwise you will have to break down the walls. No, of course, I could shoot myself again, but I wanted to know what would happen next. I will always have time to finish the cycle.
I decided to take up sports again. 50 presses, 50 push-ups and 50 squats? Easily. How about five approaches? Same.
After an hour, I realized that my body was tense to the limit. I collapsed on the sofa and turned on the TV. On the only available channel, Animal World, there was a program about insects. They talked about bed bugs, how they appear, their life cycle, where they live.
Then it hit me…
“It is an ectoparasite of humans and warm-blooded animals — it feeds on their blood…” I screamed. My head couldn’t think, my body was trembling…
“The upper and lower jaws have the appearance of piercing, undivided bristles and form two channels: a wide one for receiving blood and a narrow one for secreting saliva at the injection site…” I fell off the sofa, gasping for breath…
“Bedbugs have a well-developed sense of smell; they drink blood at all phases of development. To move to the next instar, the larva must drink a full portion of blood…” I lost consciousness.
When I woke up, it was approaching twelve. I got up from the floor. My body was not yet strong, so I walked into the bedroom, holding onto the wall. I lay down and closed my eyes again. Perhaps staying awake was the best option.
I’m in the hospital. It’s very dark here. Somewhere in the distance there is thunder. I hear something dripping a meter away from me. A small light comes on nearby. I’m in the ward. There is a body on each bed. They don’t move. I stand in a daze, unable to move. Suddenly one of the corpses sits down and begins to scream, shrill and loud. I cover my ears, trying to protect them. All the bodies, about twenty of them, sit down and start screaming. I close my eyes and fall to my knees. The noise is growing. I feel like my body has come to life. I jump up, intuitively find the door and run out. But they stun me with something heavy. I woke up in a room that looked too much like an interrogation room. I am sitting on a chair, my hands are tied behind me, there is a table in front of me, and a bright lamp is shining in my eyes. A long-bearded old man appears and sits down opposite. He looks at me silently, I also don’t make a single sound. The room starts to burn. The old man disappears, and the fire keeps coming. My legs are engulfed in flames. I’m in incredible pain. My body catches fire, I convulse, call for help and… I wake up.
