Chapter 11

A man in his thirties hurriedly gets into Azriel’s car and quickly gives him the address of the office. The cab driver drives off.
- Dear, can’t you go any faster?
- Are you late for something?
- I’m always late! Time is money!
- Buy yourself a watch.
The man looked angrily at Azriel. He finally drove faster.
- I have a watch! But there must be at least thirty hours in a day!
- Do you like working so much?!
- I love getting paid! Drive faster! I have to be at least an hour ahead of schedule!
Asriel pushed harder on the pedal and stopped talking. This man had spent his whole life chasing money, forgetting to live. Perhaps he had no family, working all the time.
Maybe he had mental problems. What normal person would think of starting work at least an hour early?
It was possible, of course, that the man had a life necessity and needed money, but you couldn’t tell anything like that from his suit.
No, this man was simply greedy, Azriel realized that. He had never understood such people. After all, they really don’t have enough time for life itself. All they do is work.
Such people often have no families and are miserable. The cab driver felt sorry for the man, but he didn’t say it out loud. But this man had made a conscious choice, deciding to live only by work. So there was a click in Azriel’s mind, after a short conversation and reflection, and he decided not to be distracted anymore. After a moment, he said:
- We’re here.
The man quickly got out of the car and sped toward his office.
Asriel, without further thought about the fate of the passenger, drove off, intent on finding a new passenger.
