Let all the shackles fall as quite as all the spells…
Lyrical astonishments crossed the complex, crawling between swollen gashes, working out swift paths under the walls and shining machinery. Billions of beaming rings hit all the corners of this forgotten place, reverberating, filling the emptiness with light and warmth. The ship entirely drowned in the blowing sounds and blares, slightly common with the presence of the heaven itself, hidden in the crooks of surrounding shadows.
A rough awareness bloomed within every beat of each heart. Frozen and quiet, forsaken, forbidden.. Each heart of each pilot, each crew member, each one... The sounds vanished into nothing, into the void substance itself. The universe was calling, and mourning, and howling.
The control center submerged into silence.
Greenish lights crossed the panels, scattered all around the place, coming from huge monitors and multiple power sources. Nothing else between them and their fear. The crew shortly gazed at each other, as though taking a voicless ask, watching at one other and trying to keep the silence together. Nothing was more scarier for them than that vivid motion of time and space, established between them.
There wasnt much to beg for, but they begged.
Begged for the chance. For the sake of their own sanity. This time it won’t take them. Not if they stay strong. Not if they stay unfazed, stuck and still as some marble figurines.
This all was a game of their swallowed minds, really drowned in the clusters of work that they’ve done. It was nothing. Wasn’t at all.
The room suddenly sparkled and accompanied by the shriek of an opening hatch a little woman walked in, looking a bit fuzzy, trying to hide the confusion, that invaded her thoughts.
“I think I heard something abnormal, is that a problem with my locators?” – She asked, unbothered by the looks on everyone’s faces. “If you know what happened it would be very helpful if you shared that data with me.” – She continued, feeling how her frustration is starting to itch her insides, as well as the goosebumps, that begun to trace her back, triggered by the infernal freeze. The cold, that come from the brute silence.
“Oh well, this bunch of clods…” – ranted her in her head, making a quick turn.
The hatch opened once again and the trespasser walked away, headed to the diagnostical hub.
She walked through the passages with confidence, sensing how each of her steps is followed by a dense echo. It was hard to stay focused, but the strange signal left so she was able to reconsider the situation.
What was happening, and what was the purpose of this tender voice, that blasted through her ears? Was something wrong with her receivers or maybe she even was hallucinating. Maybe… but why then all of the crew members were so stiff? She should be very careful then, at least until she understands what the matter is…
…And that became the task number one for that time. Solving the mystery by making sure that her earpiece is working as it should, or her mind is not throwing her off.
The corridors seemed to became less bright as she was passing, and the thoughts slowly grew quieter, nearly to convey into nothingness.
She then found herself standing in front of a huge illuminator, staring into the darkness, completely unaware of how long she was here, when and how she arrived, or even why. It was really complicated to understand what was happening and the little threads of her subconscious were bit by bit scattered on the floor, under her iced to the ground soles.
Knitting fingers through her ashed bushy hair, longing into that void, touching the cold glass with her forehead and breathing rushed, like if she was running all of the way up to here.
…Of mortal mourning emptiness…
Suddenly a painful sting itched her soul, eyes sunk and for a moment, a moment that lasted nearly forever, she couldn’t tell if the world disappeared or she simply couldn’t see a thing. The quiet thoughts immediately started to intensify, mixing into a tangle of howls and the body seemed to try to take her away from here, so she perplexed walked away, somewhere where she possibly belonged.
It wasn’t manageable to understand what she was doing and thinking, therefore the destination of her route was a mystery even for herself. She even could tell that on the back of her mind some unfamiliar voice was leading a train of her decisions, but it was so vague, that the purpose of anything unknown that helped her was still uncertain.
At this point, anything but her was pushing her forward, and she felt nearly… blessed?
Again, she regained herself only when she was standing somewhere… elsewhere.
It was bizarre. Now she thought that this should’ve scared her, but something was telling her that doing this is the most right thing and she was fully aware of her actions, so she confidently entered the docking bay. Nothing more, nothing less. It was a pure action of interest and curiosity.
On the way out of the docks were lined up a row of spacesuits, ready to be equipped by the members of the ship in case of some emergencies.
She paused herself to look for her code and swiftly jumped into her pod, scanning her wrist, pressing some buttons and exhaling as soon as the suit tightened on her skin.
The mind became absolutely hollow, making her feel almost like a light feather, so when she made sure that everything was all right, she continued her journey, driven to the exit of the station.
The entrance into a compact capsule, the pressure set and the screeching sound of the shutter opening. Bunch of seconds and her body was thrown into a fluid of emptiness. This time the oblivion of her spirit was gently suppressed and filled with a warm calling, pleasant and totally pervasive.
Now she was sure that this foreign voice really existed and it dragged her here.
The cosmic expanse in which she was now floating was enchanting and the feeling of her, merging with the vacuum of this place was difficult even to convey in any words.
…The sirens cradle is a mess until she breathes again…
And as she was gazing into the abyss, the abyss started to also gaze into her. A trace of blueish mist gathered around her and a transcendal figure, composed of stardust, aroused from nonexistence. With every shape that this divinity carved for herself in the absence of substance our astronaut drowned even more in the endless stream of celestial beauty and charm.
The voice overwhelmed her more and more, cascading into every cell of her body. Singing softly, being a heartwarming explosion that dissipates completely, until nothing more is important for her, except for the angel that she is now perceiving.
The figure made a step, burning her with it’s gaze. “Come here, little one...” – reverberated in her soul, and the astronaut gasped, almost robbed of her oxygen. This celestial nature was incomprehensible.
The angel was a walking explosion of nebulas, the constellations knotted its arteries together and the eyes sparkled like a bunch of shining lazurites.
She wanted so bad to feel her warmth… Was she even warm or not…
The astronaut made a ridiculous motion, trying to reduce the distance between them, but it didn’t really work. The voice called her again. The temptation grew and the inability to make anything teared her apart from inside. It was unfair. Why she can’t touch her? What she has to sacrifice to touch her? The pain was insufferable, drastically heartwrenching.
The angel took another step, enjoying the torture and calling her again – “Come closer, starlight…” and she tried, tried with all of the enthusiasm that she had, but it still wasn’t enough to prevail the laws of physics.
At some point she even wanted to rip apart her arm and throw it to the saint, but to her great happiness, the angel showed some compassion towards her, and came closer.
It was too much to take and the astronaut just froze there, not being able to look anywhere else except the hypnotizing azure eyes, in which she could read the words that was spiraling through her own mind. This is the one who brought her here, this is the one who was talking with her through the madness and the barriers of time and space…
The angel nudged her arm, rising up to the shoulder. It wasn’t warm, but it was light and gentle. She was already trembling under her touch, resisting from grabbing her and sinking into that heaven.
From the shoulder, fingers climbed onto her collarbone. “I’m still waiting…” – was told, and the astronaut realized that she can now pull herself to her. She tightened her lips and closed her eyes, taking a second to gather all of her boldness.
She took the hand that was stroking her and dived forward, plunging with her ear into the chest of this ethereal being. The sound of the devine voice suddenly mixed with strange rhythmical waves of melody, coming from the heart of this creature. It was like its soul was a cluster of cosmic strings, on which she played in order to mesmerize and capture.
How she even existed without this sound all this time.
The girl slowly looked up, being too close to this enchanting aura and feeling like she can’t do all of this anymore, but as soon as the voice started to whisper something she was unable to take control of herself.
“It is so bad that I can’t feel your skin…” – The angel rubbed the helmet and continued. “…but only if you could take this off…”
No way. For a second something in her broke, and the damage was clearly there, but she wasn’t playing her own game now and the only reason she was there, was to dissipate into nothing in the hands of this subliminal goddess. Was it really the matter of her life, did it have a price this high? Now she was sure that not, she was sure, because she had nothing more to crave for, except for the eyes that robbed her mind and soul.
She pushes the system that is telling her that this action is going to kill her and throws the helmet away, as the cosmic space absorbs her.
The astronaut watches at her angel with hopefulness. The creature smiles ant grabs her cheeks into the palms, as the cobalt eyes and hair shine, casting a ray of light on the frosting face.
The angel rubs the lips with her thumb before kissing them.
She can’t take it. Before everything dies in front of her eyes, she consumes the glimpse of warmth from the kiss and notices how the voice leaves, emptying her mind.
The sense of silence in her head is surprisingly shocking. All of this happened and it was like a dream, and now, that she can hear the string of her own thought that is not manipulated by anyone she will probably endure the end of this. In peace and comfort of the nihilism of the universe.
The siren disappeared after the soulless body was returned to the spaceship. It was a fun one, for a while she will be satisfied with this little adventure. Bot not for a very long time, obviously…
…Cause all the dreams are always chasing her.
