Chapter 1

Settings
Pyotr Grigoryevich, who was popularly nicknamed "Pyramid-headed", was in fact a simple, unremarkable locksmith at the factory. From the rest of the builders of communism, workers and others, he was perhaps distinguished only by his height of three meters and a massive metal structure in place of his head. But his fellow countrymen were not particularly surprised, lately in Tikhogorsk there has been all sorts of anti-scientific devilry, which has already ceased to surprise anyone. Unless inexperienced tourists or poorly informed scientific delegations could be surprised and sometimes shocked by this very unusual Tikhogorskaya fauna. Sometimes the wallpaper on the walls peels off in broad daylight, then some freaks climb out onto the roads. But our country is progressive, so the townspeople have long been used to them and called them affectionately: comrades with disabilities. The "comrades" could not always boast of special intelligence, and often they could not even say their own name, but our sympathetic and not malevolent population began to invent their own names for them. For example, Arkady Alexandrovich climbs out of the bushes. But our city administration did not waste time in vain, most of the comrades with disabilities were assigned to work in factories, why should they crawl along the streets, trade parasitism? So our Pyotr Grigoryevich was attached to the factory as a locksmith. But unlike other comrades with disabilities, Pyotr Grigoryevich was distinguished by a particularly high intelligence and physical data, all arms and legs were in place and height was under three meters, but he could not boast of special verbosity. Our people taught him sign language, and although he was blind among other things (due to the lack of eyes, as well as the entire head as a whole), he was perfectly guided by hearing and tactile sensations. Blindness did not in the least interfere with his work as a locksmith. And unlike all the other "comrades", the Pyramid-headed man was even given a passport of a full-fledged citizen of the USSR and a good apartment in Stalinka (with ceilings suitable for him) However, not all decisions of Alexey Genadevich, the head of our city administration, were so successful. In addition to the "comrades", who were very advantageously distributed to factories for everyone, dubious-looking citizens appeared on the streets of the city, who at night very frightened the townspeople, abruptly starting to move in the light of a kerosene lamp. For a long time, Soviet scientists could not understand what their problem was, but they agreed that it was better to just catch them and put them away from prying eyes. And since the Tikhogorsky polyclinic did not have enough staff, they were ordered to be sent there, it was a rather experimental decision, but the new nurses still caught on. Although at first it was difficult for the staff to work with them, but then our Alexey Genadievich personally explained that in order for the girls to do something on them, it's enough just to shine a flashlight. And Pyotr Grigoryevich, in the evenings after his shift, heading home, often passed by the hospital windows, eavesdropping on the whispers of the nurses. They whispered softly to each other about all sorts of things, about cute visitors and about the light of a flashlight. Peter did not see what they looked like, their faces (which, by the way, did not stand out in any special way), did not see the light of a flashlight, he only heard their voices, sonorous names and the creaking of bones. And he liked to eavesdrop on what the nurses were whispering about after a long day at work. But even on weekends, in the evenings, he went out for a walk past the clinic to eavesdrop on their conversations, they were always waiting for him there.
