The clear sky has left us
February 3, 2024 at 3:58 PM
Once there was a sky so bright,
With clouds as white as snow,
But now it seems the light has gone,
Leaving us all in woe.
The purest blue above our heads,
Framed by a golden sun,
Was once a symbol of our hope,
A treasure dearly won.
But as the days went drifting by,
The taint began to show,
The clear expanse grew darker still,
And lost its radiant glow.
The darkness crept upon the land,
A shadow in disguise,
It hid behind the masks we wear,
And played tricks on our eyes.
The vibrant hues of red and gold,
Transformed into despair,
As smog and smoke now fill the air,
And poison lingers there.
The sparkling stars that used to shine,
So bright and full of grace,
Now hide behind the city lights,
In crowded, urban space.
Gone are the days of purity,
When birds soared high above,
Now the sky is filled with noise,
From engines and from doves.
But still, we hold on to the dream,
Of a sky so clear and pure,
Where silver linings grace our days,
And hope can still endure.
So let us fight to bring it back,
That pure and lofty dome,
And mend the wounds of nature's heart,
So that it can be our home.
For we, the custodians of Earth,
Hold the key to set it free,
To bring back days of innocence,
And make the sky, once more, ours to see.
So let us band together strong,
With each and every voice,
And reclaim the sky, once clean,
And make a brighter choice.
