"Hey, give it back!"  Jeremiah, the younger twin, was unsuccessfully attempting to get back the ruler he needed for his project from his brother. Jeremy wasn't working on anything significant or promising; he was simply trying to improve his skills and become an engineer every company would want to hire. "No, you take it back yourself!" The trailer was instantly filled with a loud laugh. It might have sounded sinister, but in fact it was simply an innocent giggle at his always serious brother. Jerome didn’t like it when Jeremiah was busy. The older twin was especially envious of the blue sheets with white stripes, sharp pencils, and rulers of all sizes and shapes. Why couldn't Jeremiah give Jerome the attention he so desperately wanted? "What if I die and you are left all alone? Also, you'll cry every day!" While sitting on the table with other sheets, Jerome continued to hold the ruler too high for Jeremiah to reach. He wasn't going to ruin them; it was all a joke. He didn’t want to upset Jeremiah in any way. Of course, he could laugh at him. Harm or hurt his dear brother? No, never. "You're almost immortal; we both know that…" Jeremy sighed and took his glasses off. Jeremiah realised how tired he was after Jerome has started distracting him. How long has Jeremiah been working today? He began immediately after breakfast. Jeremy drew the curtains back from a small window and looked outside. When he saw the sunset, his expression quickly changed. It was one of those rare occasions when Jeremiah genuinely agreed with Jerome. “Hmm… Well, brother dear, it’s not that simple! Look, your ruler is my hostage now. And what do we do with the hostages, hm?” Jeremiah said nothing in response. Jerome was blinking fast with his red eyelashes touching his cheeks, and the big smile seemed to be imprinted on his face. But, as time went, he began frowning. He knew Jeremy despised losing and was attempting to come up with a solid answer. When Jerome heard a soft sigh from his twin, he felt like a true winner. “What do we do with the hostages, Jerome?” "Wow, you really gave up right now! Okay, so we need a ransom in exchange for the hostages!" Jerome was filled with excitement. Jeremy wasn't surprised; of course, Jerome fell back asleep immediately after lunch and slept like a baby. He woke up about an hour ago. Jeremiah was actually glad it happened this way; his brother was never this silent... Except for the occasional snore. "So… What do you mean by that?" Jeremy picked up his glasses case and took out a soft fabric to clean the lenses. They were already spotless; it was simply an excuse for himself and his eyes to relax. "Hmm, well…" Jerome rubbed his chin. "You're smart; you should answer it yourself!" His lips began twisting into a naughty grin. He did, of course, set the ruler down, but he refused to let go of it; instead, he began smacking it against his palm. It may have seemed threatening, especially coming from someone like Jerome, but he simply became bored with having this long metallic thing in his hand. He needed to use it! Of course, not in the way it was meant to be used. It completely took Jeremy by surprise. All he wanted to do now was punch Jerome in the face. Jeremiah rubbed the bridge of his nose. He needed to tell his twin to end the nonsense and tell him what he wanted. Obviously, it wouldn’t fly with Jerome that easily; he would become angry or upset. Jeremy heard a tiny giggle and looked Jerome directly in the eyes. Jerome was too easy to read; he was overly expressive. Now he resembled a fox. A fox with matches. "Say something; come on. You kno-o-ow what I want. Right, Jeremy?" Jerome got too close to his brother, and their noses almost touched. Another hard slap from the ruler was heard. Jerome’s skin began to turn red, but he thought it would look cool, if not terrifying. “I- I know, yeah…” Jeremiah immediately fell silent and blushed slightly. The closeness was not new to him; stubborn Jerome was always eager to touch his brother and ignored his boundaries. Jeremiah couldn't believe he enjoyed it. It was immoral and inappropriate. When these moments occurred, Jeremiah felt relieved that they were living as outcasts in a little trailer. “So what are you waiting for? My hostage doesn’t have that much time, you know.” Jeremiah was still unsure about it. He was too shy to attempt it. He rarely made the first move, but Jerome's harmless and lighthearted "pressure" forced Jeremy to give up. Their "relationship" shouldn’t be one-sided. It was annoying. Jerome's giggling was annoying. Jeremy frowned, approached his brother, and innocently leaned forward to give him a kiss. Jeremiah instantly blushed and took a slight step back. "That’s what I’m talking about! Proud of ya." Jerome pulled his brother closer, ruffled Jeremy's ginger hair, and completely ruined the "ideal-school-boy" haircut before kissing Jeremiah on the forehead. "Mwah!" "Pfft." Jeremiah began to giggle and flashed a brief glance at Jerome. After a long day, fooling around with the twin was the best way to relax. It was… calming. “Am I getting my hostage back now, Jerome?" “Yep, you deserved it, I guess. Just this once, though! You know, I love to dream! Maybe one day you’ll be my hostage. Mm…” “Okay, okay, dreamer, get off the table. You’re cooking today.” “I thought you didn’t like my noodles!” “If I’ve told you the truth, you would have teased me on purpose with a fork with noodles wrapped around it.” “Hey, you know what? That’s a great idea! Thanks!” “Jerome…” “Okay, okay, I’ll stop… For now.” Jeremiah allowed himself to smile and giggle. He adored his twin. Jerome was… Extremely clinging, to say the least. Jerome made Jeremiah feel wanted.
