One young man, about the age of ten, named David, dreamed of having friends with whom he would spend his free time, play with them, tell them jokes, stories, walk together and much more. Unfortunately, his dream was not destined to come true. And all because he was autistic, just like his father once was. Because of this, many almost did not pay attention to him and did not want to communicate with him. And when hooligans appeared at school, they began to pester the poor fellow and mock him. They laughed at his mental illness, insulted him for being brainless, said all sorts of bad words towards him and teased him in every possible way. The boy was offended by all this. He endured all this for so long that at one point he could not stand it and decided to challenge them in order to answer all their bullying. But he didnโ€™t take into account that the hooligans were a little taller than him, and also outnumbered him, which means they were stronger than him. They easily knocked him to the floor and started kicking him until he started crying in pain, which made them laugh at him even more and call him Crybaby. David went to the school principal to complain about them. However, the director did not help him. The whole point is that those hooligans were brothers and peers, or rather relatives of that same director, and he protected them. Therefore, he did not punish the hooligans. Instead, he punished the young man himself for lying. David tried to protest and insist that he was not lying at all, but complaining, because these nasty hooligans were tired of insulting and pestering him. However, the director did not listen to him, he argued the opposite, so that he would not yell at him, would not snitch and lie that he was not lying to him about those students. The boy did not want to leave it all like that and screamed at the top of his lungs, insulting the director himself, calling him an ass-licker who licks the asses of those hooligans and protects them, instead of normally helping when he simply complained about them. After all, they are older than him, and the big ones should not offend the little ones. However, the director himself yelled back at him and demanded that he shut up. He punished David by making him sit in his office for exactly an hour for such bad behavior and called his mother to school. After exactly an hour of punishment, the mother herself came for her son and took him home with her. The boy, through his tears, tried to explain to her what really happened: โ€” Mom, itโ€™s not my fault, I swear! It's all those hooligans. They've already gotten around to pestering me. Well, why did they pester me? Well, just think that Iโ€™m not like all the students at school! I even just tried to complain to the director, and he yelled at me and started lying that I was allegedly lying. โ€” I understand everything, son. But there's nothing you can do about it. This is the harsh real world. There is no justice here. Itโ€™s only in comics, cartoons and films that everything is fair and good always wins. But here itโ€™s always the other way around. We can only come to terms with that fact and move on. โ€” No, mom. I donโ€™t want to come to terms with the fact that these bastards have been pestering me more than once and even beat me up. I want this to finally end now. โ€” Wait wait! You said... Were you beaten? โ€” Yes. I couldnโ€™t stand their mockery and tried to attack them, but they were stronger than me, threw me to the floor and started beating me. I was in so much pain. Mom was immediately angry. โ€” This is already serious. Okay, go home yourself, while I personally deal with the director. โ€” she said and went back to school, and the boy went home himself. Fortunately, he knew the way and the house was not far from here. At least at home he could calm down and relax, if only he would no longer listen to laughter, other students making fun of him and other mockery.

Arriving home, he, not paying attention to his fatherโ€™s questioning glance, quickly went into his room, throwing his backpack near the bed. David himself, once in his room, lay down on the bed and cried. Daddy heard his son crying and went into his room. โ€” What's the matter, David? Who hurt you? โ€” These are all hooligans. โ€” the son answered him. โ€” Hooligans? Where? โ€” Father rolled his eyes. โ€” At school. They've been bothering me for days now. They laugh at me and at the fact that I am mentally retarded, and they also beat me. When I went to complain about them to the director, this asshole began to defend the hooligans, and called me a sneak. โ€” Ugh! David, I told you a hundred times, never say such words! โ€” Daddy answered politely. โ€” I know, but thereโ€™s no other way to put it. Director really is like that and he really called me that. He didnโ€™t even help me, but simply protected them. I defended those who mocked me. The father sat down next to his son on the bed. โ€” But you know. I, too, was mentally retarded, just like you. โ€” Is it true? โ€” David was surprised, stopping crying. โ€” Is it true. I was little. About almost your age. I then lost my mother and began to live with your great-grandfather. His name was Henry Poppington. He treated me very poorly and I grew up under his care, without a mother and without a father. I was a stupid child in the body of an adult who was lost in his dreams and played too much, not realizing that I was playing with fire, and also that I was endangering not only myself, but also my close, loyal and surrounding friends. I then considered myself a superhero and thought that I was invulnerable, like Superman. Itโ€™s true that I didnโ€™t know how to fly. But all I could do was throw balls, jars of wasps, and hit the banditsโ€™ faces with a baton. โ€” I know. My mother has talked more than once about who you were when you met her, before you got married. After which you decided of your own free will to stop wearing the Defendor suit, realizing that it was mortally dangerous. But really. Arthur Poppington himself perfectly remembered all these events, as if they had happened just yesterday. He even remembered that very moment when he almost died in reality once again, but could have died this time and forever. He was lucky then that he decided to ask the commissioner for one of his personal body armor vests, in case he was shot at.

Memories

Even that night at the airport, when Arthur, dressed as Defendor, finally crossed paths with Radovan Kristik himself, armed with a pistol, he did not show fear. โ€” Finally!... Fly! โ€” said Radovan, seeing in front of him a mummer in a helmet and a mask of makeup over his eyes. He points a gun at him, but Arthur is not afraid and boldly says: โ€” Guns for cowards! Despite his words, the bandit leader still shoots at him. It hits him straight in the chest and, logically, he should have received a mortal wound and fallen. Fortunately, he had a bulletproof vest hidden under his clothes. He himself pretended to have received a mortal wound and fell on his back. Then he closed his eyes and pretended to be dead. Radovan didnโ€™t believe him at first and came closer to examine and make sure: Did he really kill him or not? Having looked around and made sure that no one was nearby yet, he came closer and bent down and decided to check the pulse. Suddenly, the Protector sharply opens his eyes and knocks the pistol from his hand with his right palm. Thus, he disarmed him, and then hits him in the mouth with his left fist. The fat man steps back, clutching his mouth, because it almost knocked out his teeth. The defender manages to get up, take out his baton and hits him on the head, knocking the leader to the floor. The hero proudly stands over the villain, stepping on his stomach, thereby putting a little pressure on him and making it even more painful. The villain groaned in pain and could not push him away. The defender looked menacingly at Kristik and said: โ€” You lost, Captain Industry.โ€ โ€” What? โ€” Radovan did not understand. โ€” You killed my mother. Her name was Faye. โ€” he finished. โ€” And you?... Have you come to take revenge on me for her? โ€” he asked. Arthur was silent for a long time, but then answered: โ€” Yes. Radovan immediately realized everything, decided to surrender to him and gave up. โ€” May God forgive me. Okay, finish me off. I deserved a quick death. โ€” Do not even hope! You'll be behind bars because I'm a superhero. I don't kill people, I just catch them and put them where they belong. At this very moment, the police arrive and arrest Radovan along with his surviving gang, who still survived, despite a bunch of stings from wasps and falling due to balls. Katerina Debrofkowitz herself also comes running, worried about him all this time, hugs her superhero and makes him a promise that she will give up drugs and find a real job, becoming a writer, just as Lois Lane Arthur then confessed his love to her. After that, the next day he made his honest promise that this time he would definitely never wear that suit again, and after some time he and Kat got married and began to live together.

End of Memories

Arthur was immediately distracted from these warm memories by the thought that his son was being bullied by those same bullies and by the director who defended the bullies themselves, and did not try to help his son. He was so angry that he decided to go and deal with it himself. Going into the closet, he again takes out his old and favorite suit, takes a black T-shirt, sticks the English letter โ€œDโ€ on its chest from silver tape, puts on a helmet without a video camera, takes a baton in his hands and, having dressed, he goes out into the street in this form. Katerina Poppington complained to the principal himself at that time at school and scolded him in every possible way for not even scolding those hooligans for beating him. The director, after listening to her cries, began to show off, like: Lord! This sneak has infected you with it too! How could you even believe this liar and braggart? This is a stupid child! โ€” Choose your expressions, nit! This is my child and your nasty students have no right to mock him and beat him. I swear that if you don't scold or punish the bullies now, and apologize to my son for brazenly defending them and hurting my son for nothing, you will mortally regret it. We will take revenge on you for your disobedience. With these words, Kat leaves the office, and the director imitates her and mockingly says to himself: โ€” Oh-oh-oh! I'm afraid, I'm afraid! Stupid woman! At this moment, a brick falls into the office through the window and Defendor himself climbs into the office through the broken window. He looked menacingly at the director and asked: โ€” What are you saying about my wife, you asshole? โ€” My God! Are you crazy to barge in on me like that? โ€” the director was indignant. The defender hits him with a baton between the legs and in the face. Then he leans over him and looks at him menacingly. โ€” Let this serve as a lesson to you. If you insult my wife, son or me one more time, punish my son for nothing or allow someone to offend him, I will return to you here in the same way as I came to you now, I will strangle you and drown your corpse in the lake with stones in a bag. You understood me? I'm not joking at all. Then the director got scared of his threats and had to surrender. He agreed, apologized to him and promises to personally talk to the bullies, that he will punish them and ask his son David for forgiveness. Defendor himself left the directorโ€™s office at that time. All the students were surprised when they saw him in the suit. They really thought it was some kind of superhero walking around their school. Even those same hooligans, when they saw him, came up and asked for an autograph. But Arthur did not give them autographs. Instead, he hit one in the face, pinning him to the wall, knocked the second to the floor and hit him in the stomach, and grabbed the third by the throat and began to choke him. True, he later let me go. Then he also intimidated the three of them: โ€” If you three freaks dare to mock my son or beat him one more time, I will come back here and kill you all. Got it? They nodded their heads. They were really afraid of him and didn't want to anger him. After Defendor left their school and went to his home.

The next day

David Poppington did not want to return to school and once again endure bullying, ridicule and beatings. However, his father went with him and assured him that this time everything would be fine. When they got there, everyone saw David and his father, who this time was not wearing a suit, and were a little surprised. They recognized the guy in the suit and helmet, but even without the suit, they were still afraid of him, thinking that he would also attack them if they dared to mock his son. Having said goodbye to the boy and kissed his forehead goodbye, daddy went home. David was left alone for now and at one moment he was surrounded by all the students. It seemed that now they would mock him for the umpteenth time and the boy was already desperate. But no. To his surprise, that's not how it happened. All the students simply decided to talk to him, say hello, get to know each other, introduce themselves by name, tell him their stories and so on. They even apologized to him for laughing at him, secretly insulting him in their thoughts and making fun of him, and making fun of him. They also apologized for never communicating with him and wanting to be friends. But now they have corrected themselves and personally wanted to make friends with him. Even those three hooligans who mocked him and beat him yesterday personally asked for his forgiveness almost a million times and even literally kissed his feet. Even the director himself came out and apologized to David and promised that he would never call him a sneak again, but would listen to him carefully if he decided to complain about someone, if someone dared to offend him again. David Poppington was a little shocked and at the same time he was even glad. Finally, justice triumphed and he finally achieved that everyone loved and respected him, and did not mock him, despite the fact that he was not like everyone else. And he seems to have guessed a little, thanks to whom it all happened. โ€” "Thank you dad."
