But how could Caine, who knew so little about feelings, say for sure what is true and what is not? Of course he would never admit it though.
You were programmed to say that. I was… Caine’s chain of thought suddenly breaks into pieces. No, no, no. It wasn’t him was it? Of course not. How could something like that even cross his mind in the first place? And also! He couldn’t remember doing any of that nonsense. That means it didn’t happen. Yes. Exactly. .But on the other hand, Moon. Could she, in her own very sane mind, decide that she liked him? No, no, even more, that she, — what a silly thought! — loves him! How can something like that be possible? How can anyone even be more conscious than him in this empty and almost endless world? Caine suddenly feels this wave of dark-blue washing over him, dragging somewhere into the depths of his mind and… “What are you thinking about, Caine?” Caine jolts, almost gripping into that honey-blue voice like in the only thing that could save him. “Another brilliant idea?” No. Caine wants to say, but in that exact second his thoughts suddenly really do jump to his starlets. After all, he hasn’t actually arranged any adventures for them for quite a time. They must have gotten bored by now, he must think of a way to entertain them! Hm… Oh! How about Barrel Monkeys? They’re quite hard to catch, so it should keep them busy for a some time, if you assume time exists here at all. His starlets could start get ABSTRACTED by any moment now out of sheer boredom, and he couldn’t allow this. Caine nodded. “Well isn’t it just amazing, Caine!” oh, right, Moon was here too. “I’m sure you will succeed.” “A-hah! Yeah, sure.” Her words sent shivers down his spine, and he certainly didn’t like it. He rushed to another location, completely random one, just like he always did. However, her words — yes, slightly distorted by static, but still her soft-sweet words, colored by her smile, — were still echoing in his consciousness. I will be always waiting for you, Caine. And Caine had to make quite an effort to fight off himself them and those little pesky tickling, they brought with their mere sound. Caine, Caine, Caine… What, in the world, was going on with his mind? Why he… He… Caine appears to his starlets at his very best, introduces them their new adventure without paying too much attention to their clearly annoyed sighs, and releases all the Barrel Monkeys at once. And then just… goes away. Without any actual goal to achieve, he wanders from one to another location, watches his mannequins, Bubbles, spending a considerable amount of time just to scold him for his existence, runs another world construction check-up, The Void, bugs and also!… Also… Keeps himself busy just not to return back to her. And why? It’s not like she’s scary or something, — although it would be very unlikely that Caine would allow in his world anything that could possibly cause stress to his little starlets, no, no, they should be kept in peaceful and cheerful mood, they…! — so just… why? Ha. Because he, to the point of pure madness, to the blue haze, blurring his vision, was–… No! No, no no no. Oh, why only this kind of nonsense has been coming to his head lately?! He needed stop this immediately, but…! But, oh how it was pleasant to know, that at least someone thought that he was doing everything right, without any mistakes or deviations. Too late he realizes that he stuck frozen in place. Completely forgotten about the world, because his consciousness was completely overtaken by Moon. By her words. And every time her words were echoing in his mind, even when she wasn’t around, Caine found it harder and harder not to want to come back to her. I love your ideas, Caine. You are so creative!
You’re a great host, Caine.
You’re interesting to watch.
I love to listen to you.
After all, I love you.
Oh, how it was… . . . Oh, how funny was the thought, that he, probably, will never admit it to himself. And, of course, will never allow anyone else to know about it.
